SotN: Galamoth the hard way.

- I am aware that there are easier ways to kill him.
When I filmed this, I hadn't checked online to see any of the tricks to quick kill Galamoth. This is how I used to fight him 10 years ago: vastly underpowered and under-equipped to take on what is undoubtedly the toughest boss in the game. If I upload a playthrough of this game, I'll kill him more efficiently then.
There was no use of turbo controllers here. I know it probably looks that way, but I have fast fingers. You can tell that my hand starts to get tired after using the heart refresh. :P
ON A RELATED NOTE: I had started to upload my Super Metroid speed run a long while ago, before I got involved with AerialBlast's ROM hacks. Nobody seemed too interested in it, though. I'm thinking of removing it. If you want me to reupload it, let me know.
Am so glad this video exists. I remember people debating if it was even possible without stunlocking him or using an absorb equipment.
Of course it is possible, but you will need good level, decent weapons and also items.
do people seriously consider to this boss to be hard? i dont even use potions when fighting him he ridiculously easy like everything in this game, i love the game but it is way too easy
@@memberofchat2825 He's pretty easy to stunlock if you hit his head, and the Beryl Circlet (which even the tutorial videos you can buy at the shop use) nullifies one of his moves, but yes, he's considered tough. He also comes at a point where you could have several ultimate weapons including the Alucard Shield Rod combo, so if you had one of those, he's also toast.
@@bobosmith101 i just used the osafuna katana which you can find in the upside down waterfall (i think)
@@memberofchat2825 Interesting, that's all? Neat to see.
That rapid dagger throwing is almost like an item crash actually.
Reminds me of the thousand blades from portrait of ruin
This is basically it but better
What me and my siblings used to do was harder than this. We had no manual for this game back then so we didnt know about any spells or tricks, so we would equip a weapon with a fast attacking animation and kneel next to galamoth and slice up his legs. If we ran out of food and medicine to heal with then it was game over lol.
agreed in back when it came out..evry time u played it you found sumthing new.. now u can just google :/ ppl shud try to figure it out thats the fun off it... theres hints and tips all over...
@aung un'rama wtf are u talking about u can buy spells at the library u dumb shit
@@goldalchemy63 No, you buy instructions for using the spell, if you start a new game and already know how to do it, you can use the spell without buying it from the old man (you need to have the necessary MP to use it, of course)
@@BrunoRX78 i didnt played it on console i only have it on my mobile so doing spells with key commands is impossible
@@goldalchemy63
I'm playing through it on mobile currently, it's possible to obtain the spells without buyin them by inputting the sequence for casting.
It's just annoying difficult, but saves you money from buying from librarian, and you get them earlier.
that mini demon doing much of the work contributing 15 point of damage the whole game
The curse of being tall: Enemies must attack your ankles.
Dude! Thank you so much! I was hitting my head against the wall dying to this guy over and over. I didn't realize you could bait the lightning attack like that to stand between his legs and punish him. This video was a life saver, thanks man.
Well ever heard of the Alucard shield+shield rod combo? Pretty much cheeses the game.
You Tube Did that today. Got slaughtered when I first met him, that Alucard Shield combo really destroys him.
It’s amazing how much you can break enemies even without it though. Only started playing the game last week and it’s been a blast, with some minor annoyances.
Just spam the Crissaegrimm dude
Equip Beryl Circlet (found in Reverse Entrance).
The Beryl Circlet Heals HP by lightning damage
Use the Yasutsuna. Has more chance of critical attack, and it's also faster than the Crissaegrim.
Alucard's Soul Steal is like the Castlevania's equivalent to Sabin's Blitz command
So good
Lol at Alucard having to throw the food on a dirty bloody floor to eat it.
Technically its ceiling so I'm not sure if it counts
Oh shit its been 7 years
impressive. you memorized galamoth's movements
im glad i wasnt the only one who thought that the mist was a good idea
1:12
Galamoth: OH MY GOD, MY LEG! MY PRECIOUS LEG!!
Actually he has 10,000 HP

I agree. This is the toughest boss in SOtN; I had the crissaegrim sword when I fought him and I was out of healing items when I won the fight.
The esiest way is using fairie card, she can resurrect you up to 3 times when you die.
@@wimpieyuwono2550 just use shield rod + alucard shield if you want to do it the easy way lol
don't even need the crissaegrim
Even without knowing anything about that Game you should have notice that 1 DMG from that Throwing Knifes leads to carpal tunnel syndrome before hes Dead xD
Awesome. I never even thought to use the mist to dodge in boss battles in this game.
This is the creative way to fight him!
Wait, he’s a super boss!? Jesus Christ! I managed to beat him, but I remember thinking how unusually tough this guy was!
Yeah he's optional, that's why he is so tanky and strong
Iirc, I was lucky enough on my first playthrough to get an item that absorb lightening damage so his most dangerous attacks basically does nothing but heal me
"Lucky enough" my ass. It's the Beryl Circlet that does that and you have a SPECIFIC set of requirements you have to meet to open that room.
@@cybercifrado lmfao😆😆😆 oh yeah i remember that room
@@cybercifrado I always wondered, how was I even supposed to know these requirements?? There is no way someone got the item without guides
@@lima88726 i got it withouth i guide isn't in the secret room where you need the devil familiar to press a button? i always use that familiar so i didn't miss that item but i didn't use it because it would have made an already pretty easy game even easier
Unlike dracula galamoth gives you more of a challenge that's why respect galamoth more than dracula.
to be honest fighting Galamoth with even the Alucard sword is pretty tough. but since he's meant to be the biggest challenge in the game I really never really want to fight him any other way. having to use all my healing items and equipment to barely get a win is pretty satisfying
Galamoth is my favorite Castlevania villain. They need to bring him back!
Nice reflexes. That fast reaction mist-form made this possible.
Alucard: That Good Old Galamoth! You've got bigger but you still no match to my bloodline.
Galamoth: Kid Dracula? You have grown up. But this time I will triumph.
Alucard: Taking Advantage of my father's absence again, huh?
Galamoth: Once your father is revived...I will devour him.
Alucard: You can barely stand against me. You stand no chance against him.
Galamoth: We shall see about that, son of the dragon.
(After the fight)
Galamoth: N...No...Not again!
Alucard: That makes 2 or 3 victories for me? I can't remember. Anyway, farewell again!
Galamoth: GUHAAAAAAARGH!
probably my favorite Boss
in SOTN
Nice! Love how you were very creative no beryl circlet nor the dark resistant circlet
It helps if you have the Beryl Circlet equiped which allows you to absorb the lighting. Also if you find Alucard sheild, the real one, in the inverted underground cavern, you can use it's special ability when you have the mablung sword equiped or just use the sheild rod. This is for if you don't have the crissigrim.
Caralho esse chefe é mais difícil que o Dracula
Eu tô travado nele
E é mesmo
Eu lembro que matei ele assim msm, usei as faquinhas , chorando kkk
Mesmo com a melhor espada, demora um pouco pra ele cair
... cheap tricks? You mean "throwing projectiles one at a time that only do 1 damage"? Oh, so cheap.
Actually I killer him in a very similar fashion that yours, long before checking what people were doing online. Everything is the same except that my knife throwing was done on his face which deals a lot more damage, on the top left (not top right) of the screen on that platform. He does hit you with a charge attack that I dodged by double jump. At some point, without expecting it, a little bug happened and he couldn't move / attack, that's where I could throw all my knives without being interrupted. I didn't have no heart refresh at that moment, so once my knives were depleted, I had to come down and fuck up his ankles just like you did, while avoiding to touch him with mist. Couldn't believe it when he finally died, as I had no idea how much HP he had...
Reminds of the band cheap trick

@@OreoTheWolf
Oof, but I'm glad you came back to clear that up ^^
Epic battle! lol I think I couldn't endure that much, physically and mentally.
All I did was backdash when he stuck his wand out to do hit lightning attack, change into a bat, and fly over his wand in front of his face. Then I would change back to regular form and hit the crap out of him with the alucard sword. I repeated that until he was dead. One thing to note is the spacing is pretty important because you don't want him to back you into a corner.
I didn't even think to use mist form. That would probably have allowed me to kill him even faster.
Been playing this for about a week now. After dying twice to Galamoth I found a super easy way to kill him. Equip the ghost familiar and fly up to the mid ledge on the right side of the screen. Galamoth walks right up to your face and gets stun locked with you slicing at his face and the ghost attacking him. it took me forever, but eventually he died.
Didnt work. I’m playing on Xbox. How do I get him to come to my face
Woah. Those knife throwing skills...
I fought him the hard way and right as i was about to die for the 20th time my little demon familiar got one last hit on him with the thunder spear and killed him and completely saved my ass lol ive never been so happy and proud of that familiar.
Who the hell is this guy? Death was nothing but this optional boss make me use everything in my inventory only to have a risky opportunity
I defeated him using the Obsidian Sword, healing potion and Mana Prisma. I waited for him to do that lightning attack on the floor by his foot using the Mist Form, so when it was over, I would return to human for and struck him with the sword as many times as possible. When the mana was over to use Mist, I used Mana Prist. When I got accidentally hit, I used healing potion. After around 8 minutes, he was down =)
I JUST RECENTLY downloaded this game. Kinda a "Bucket List" game I always wanted to play. Last night I got stuck on this guy. I tried several methods, and I had not yet gotten the circlet to reverse electricity. I did learn about the mist causing no damage. So finally, I noticed if he lowers the rod and uses electricity, it will knock you back between his legs. Then, you'll be behind them. I was fortunate enough to be able to mist up to the ledge at the right time to where I could hit him in the head. Every time his head is hit, you could spam it because he would stop. So I just kept spamming it for about 3 and a half minutes. I was very lucky.
1 damage galamoth kill is the most manly thing ever
Basically, you will need to hit him 9999 times.
Oh that's a tough bastard there. Which resists lightning more? The lightning mail or the alucard mail?
I could've gotten killed a hundred times, trying to defeat that huge boss. That takes a LOT of hits to get rid of him!
You guys wont believe me but 10 years ago my memory card broke and most of my games are RPGs (I have Breath of FIre 3 and FF8 and Grandia) Lacking in cash I have to wait 2 days to buy a new memory card. SInce this is the only game that can be finished quicker than those, I tried to play this without saving (actually me and my brothers finished this like 3x but didnt reach Inverted castle.) SO I tried to finish inverted castle w/o saves FOR THE FIRST TIME.
Best weapon against Galamoth (Shield Rod + Alucard Shield)
You can find alucard shield only after win against Galamoth
Nope that's wrong. Doesnt the guy here has it in inventory already? @@xGhiged
Gotta disagree. Crissaegrim and Soul Steal.
@@xGhiged you start the game with it
@@xXdarkdekuXx that's the Alucart Shield which is a dud when used with the Shield Rod.
Ways of beating Galamoth;
Soon as it lightning rains do gravity jump to get behind its back and hit its legs.
If you have alucard sword or osafune you can spam its special attack to be invincible while dealing good dmg. By the time you arrive Galamoth you should have enough mp
Alucard Shield+Rod and Beryl Circlet Strategies are self explanatory
You can bug it like speedrunners do. While he rises when you first enter room go behind is back to the top surface layer. And hit its head. He keeps bouncing his head back and forth although I m not sure if you need a rapid weapon like crissaegrim
Thanks.... Your startegy worked for me... Using mist is broken against this boss
I don't remember what I did to beat this guy back in the day, but I played it yesterday and it took me a long time. I died twice and the fairy resurrected me. At some point during the fight I accidentily turned into fog and realized I could avoid all damage. I pretty much just kept doing that then attacking the legs with whatever the best sword I had. At some point I did get him stuck over in the right corner and he just sat there while I attacked repeatedly. It took so damn long I started wondering if I wasn't attacking him in the right spot. He eventually did die though.
Its harder to watch trying to do soul steal a lot of times to no avail lol
Fat finger into doing hellfire 80% of the time
How are you in mist form for that long? Mine runs out in 1 second....
There is a relic which makes the effect to last as long as you have magic power.
This IS the hard way, but maybe not the hardest. I've tried it naked with all relics turned off and I failed miserably. Using the Beryl Circlet has to be the ultimate cheap move vs Galamoth- stand right underneath his scepter and let his lightning massively heal you. Crissaegrim or Shield Rod + Alucard Shield are both cheap tactics too.
Felt like a total badass beating him with Richter though. God bless Item Crash.
Osafune katana your invisible during its special attack animation. It was the only way we knew how to beat him before RUclips lol I wonder if anyone else has used that tactic
I heard like a " Diee!" too, lol.
in the clock tower the room where the wall breaks then you have to fight the 2 armor fleas then hes in the loft just keep jumping up and killing him until you get it. I was obsessed to see what everyone had. And was lucky to get that sword. Also the best item in the game is the ring of Varda witch you get from the golden lookin skeletons in the colosium the have a big bone they hit you with. Hes at the vey botton of the colosium by two skeletons and a invisible sword lady. Item is extremly rare
The best way I found to rack up damage on him without any OP weapons/items was to wait for the lightning storm, then super jump through the wand and repeatedly stomp his head. But no part of that is easy. The hitbox is really finicky. You have to stomp in between the horn and the head to not get hit, and if you do get hit, you'll be knocked into the lightning storm which means you'll have to mist the second you touch the ground.
It really is the fastest way to damage him without the best equipment though, if you can pull it off.
Stomp has low dmg. Just make a superjump behind his back and hit its leg until storm is over. Kinda like what this guy did with mist but mist takes too much mp imo.
@@ReasonsAndTiers It's been a while since I last played but is that faster? I remember the head taking more damage.
@@robertanderson9447 Head takes more damage yes it depends on weapon actually but also keep mind if you can make 5 stomps you will be able to hit 10 sword hits. A good weapon not necessarily a broken one like crissaegrim would do better dmg
True gamer...
@ehcastro3 I dont read the walkthrough for bosses so I didnt know that Galamoth is the hardest boss in the game. I dont even know about the shield rod trick back then. I dont remember what weapons I used.
When I was fighting Galamoth I was shocked at the huge damage he does and I keep healing myself using whatever is in my inventory. My brothers and I were on the edge of our beds at 3am. Well I managed to beat him and finish the game.
the crissagrim is the best sword you get it from the flying heads in the inverted libarary. the best swords is kill the flying swordsman he drops to swords one is a flamberge the other is a heaven sword or somthing like that its a throwing sword that comes back very cool. Any way get two of them and equip them both and press both buttons at the same time and it does a special attack witch is super bad ass. the flamberge is rare the heaven sword more rare two takes forever, the best spot is
Fuck that.
holy shit so good reactions, 6:32 was pro o.O
i used to bring a ton of healing potions and mana potions when fighting this guy, before I discovered the lightning regenerate HP item
I was so terrible with Galamoth that I beat the game, then beat Galamoth 20 in-game hours later.
lol @ 1:20 the demon familiar trying to help out *poke poke poke*
yup galamoth's a badass. and you weren't kidding about doing it the HARD way god daMN...but at least it was more interesting than watchin some hot shot rape bosses with the crissagrim and shield rod/Al.shield. in further news, people don't realize the importance and epic properties of this game.
Ive always wondered what Galamoth did once he killed you.
He probably tried to fight Dracula after that since he's originally his enemy...and considering an evil ending he would have surely been destroyed by Vlad.
you've got some excellent reflexes avoiding those hits, but you have a hard time getting soul steal out, ha.
I won this boss almost just like you.
I was trying to get in between his legs, but he kicked me and i started hitting him with the sword.
Basically, he was trying to walk, but i constantly stopped his walking animation just like you, but instead of throwing knives, i hitted him with Alucard's sword. My fingers hurted.... It almost seemed like it wasn't working because he has too much HP.
loooooool this is so dope for some reason
And that, my friend, is why I'm doing a Fist Weapons only playthrough. =p ( I'm not recording it, so don't even bother clicking my channel if you want to watch it. )
The best way to kill Galamoth is to 1. have a Power of Sire and duplicator
2. Alucard Shield with Shield Rod unless you don't have because it's not easy to find these weapons.
3. Go up to the second floor and use Alucard sword/attack him when he goes near you.
Honestly better than what I did when I was 12
@OreoTheWolf
lol? thats a huge part, can save you quiet a few deaths with good equipment. special effects too it takes like 10 seconds to equip something better
I went behind his back and got him bugged trying to kick me while I afk slashed him with 40 damage per slash, it took him a while to die but it was fairly easy for a first try.
Easily the hardest boss ever.
And annoying
Beryl circlet is the way to go
I remember using the Holbein Dagger a Lesser Demon dropped, but the range was very short, and I died five times before using the Alucard Sword
This one of the worst bosses I ever fought in my life.
The reasons here:
1.The hitbox.
2.You cant fight him the normal way because most of his attacks are almost impossible to dodge.
3.It has 12.000 hp.
4.You do so little damage to him it feels that you do nothing to him.
5.He just keeps moving non stop without a pause so it makes him impossible to hit.
6. He can corner you very easy.
7.You can use the mist to dodge him, yeah. But once you are at the back, his lightning attack is done and can screw you over.
I know most people will say to get good, but this is not even good to begin with. The only way to beat is by using the powerful sword (I forgot the name) and damage boost him in the end. The ds castlevania games have bosses with random pattern. But at least there they have telegraphs in there fight and attacks that can be dodged and their are fun. This is just horrible desinged.
Edit: on the 7th one I was wrong, so sorry
i love fight galamoth in the hard way
I killed this boss the first time with a bug... I flied up behind his head and then I started to smash him with a sword(maybe holysword or somethinglike that), he stayed there taking all the damage and nothing more... it's shame that such a good boss have glitches like that one
i killed him yesterday in a hard way too, like that, but without using itens of hearth (like dagger) because i was holding the clock... that's why i am here today
@OreoTheWolf just how long does it take to kill this boss?
I mean JESUS!! you've been beating on him for a while now and 8 minutes passed
All I used was the Crissaegrim. Nothing more nothing less
Mist up to the top right platform, keep swinging at his head. Any weapon any familiar but the fairy. It's not cheap it's simple.
Damn, I would've tried it the hard way if I knew you could stay longer in the mist form... Been using that just to get through the bars by tapping the button.
Try being Alucart and fighting him, did that about 2 days ago. One hell of a battle.
@piromaniac9999
This guy needs nearly 12 seconds to die while sapping out his health at 255 every 1/2 second with the Alucard shield.
Take a guess.
Easiest way to kill galamoth, let him dohis lightning, mist in between his legs, hack away, repeat. you take no damage, and kill him in less then 2 minutes.
Good job, you have skills man!
I believe he said its hard way because nearly everyone uses the noob Shield Rod + Alucard Shield tactics; BUT, when I'm looking for some fun I avoid using Crissaegrim.
i went to this fight blind. Oh my god... It was HOURS OF DYING ALMOST immediately. Horrifying fight. I won and i don't know even how anymore.
very nicely done
thoghest boss in the game
i made you a cookie for doing this.
but i ate it.
it was yummy
Hard way? I'd say that hard way would mean that you'd have nothing equipped, no curative items, no sub weapon, and no familiars... JESUS CHRIST THAT'D BE HARD... I swear that Galamoth is already the hardest boss in the game...
I personally believe that Galamoth is the best boss in Symphony of the Night because of how many ways you can go about defeating him.
Awesome boss is awesome.
@ehcastro3 Also, when I reached Inverted Castle I thought that since everything is inverted (and the entrance of Inverted Castle is the 'last stage' of the normal castle) I thought the ending area of the game will be in the area where Castlevania's gates are. I didn't know that the last area will be where you get the glasses in the normal castle.
I had a blast back then. Too bad I cannot prove it except y'all take my word that it really happened :)
Thanks for the information!
Crissaegrim: I am gona kick your little ASS
Galamoth:... i am death
Alucard shield and shield rod : We can join us at the party?
Galamoth:SHITTTTT
is more harder than Dracula final form
Next Challenge: Akmodan II the Hard way.
crissaegrim saved my ass for this fight
If this is the hard way, then I must have done it the very hard way. Never did anything but wear lightning armor and avoid those fucking dark- balls.
No shit, everyone knows that. This is what a real gamer does.
@ShadowAimai You could always jump ont he big wall to the far right and hit the bosses head.
I saw a video of a guy doing that and the boss takes far more dmg
