Technical Notes / EV Troll Attack Disclaimers:
"Level 3" is a term very commonly used to describe DC Fast Charging but it is technically incorrect. At the time of publishing there was no official Level 3 standard agreed upon by IEC or SAE organizations. that said, when you hear it, that is what folks usually mean. Even major automotive hardware manufacturers use the term in marketing and education materials. Much like the word "ain't" was a real English word, we hear it often and understand the meaning. It is a sensible leap which has been normalized but is not official.
The term "Charging Station" is also commonly used to refer to home charging units, but EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) is the most technically accurate way to refer to those. DC Fast Charging stations are more properly referred to as dispensers when referencing just one cable. the station would be the entire site including cabinets and dispensers. As above, even the major networks and OEMS use common vernacular in marketing and educational materials rather than official jargon. We are adding this here to keep trolls away from you the reader and from us, too.
