    From my experience not charging super fast is huge. If you have to charge super fast it should only be for 20% of capacity of cells. They do need time to recover. The biggest thing that causes Lithium to break down from charging is going to 100% every time you charge especially in hot weather. Keeping cells under 70F air temp and lowering the charge rate per pack/bank. Example I have 4 banks of 14.3kw @ 51.2 volts (funny they say that it's 51.2 since that means I have 15% of battery life left at that voltage). I charge at 200 amps max @56 volts. That means 50 amps per bank/pack battery group. Since my cells are 280ah that charge is around 0.18C per bank. I leave 10% on top and 10% on bottom so the cells never get overworked. Doing this should give me 20 years before I hit 85% left or 15% degraded. So these could last me 40 years. I plan on adding 2 more in 3-5 years and do a comparison. Right now after 2 years there is 0 loss. You see these EV's after 3 years loosing 10-30% of battery life. That is because they take them to 100% and or charge in hot climates at fast charging which doesn't give the lithium recovery time. The pulse charging sounds like a win win. That helps keep the cells cooler and lets the lithium time to recover.

      Thanks for sharing your perspective. I'd push back on the idea that *any* new EV will lose 20%-30% in the first three years. This is not a realistic outcome regardless of the charging regimen. Every EV battery is warrantied for at least 8 years against that kind of degradation. -Producer Tim

    Pulse charging and battery rejuvenation is something John Bedini has been telling us since the mid to late 90s. We can also recover the back EMF (voltage) during the off phase of the duty cycle and charge a capacitor bank to discharge (current) into the batteries, not only increasing the battery life, but its range. We're only scratching the surface.

    That Zeta Energy Lithium Sulfur Batteries looks interesting. Many questions, though. Maybe visit them in an upcoming video for more info. Looks like they are twice the volume of LiON batteries and ~ 1/2 the voltage (2.0V).

      Sulfur batteries can expand quite a bit when accepting a charge. Accommodating that swell does not favors for volume density. That said, the power density by weight is very good. The strengths of each individual battery chemistry will indicate their highest and best use. Product diversity is the bedrock of a healthy marketplace. -Producer Tim

      lyten is still not qualified for automotive because they don't reach 1500 cycles. i think they are in the area of 400...500 cycles. this is a matter of the separator that does not allow sulfur to leave the cathode, only lithium ions. for some military applications like drones this is ok. you just change the battery

    I've been following Ryvid since the days they had just a few prototypes geared differently and Dong was meeting RUclipsrs in parking lots and letting them try it out. To see him succeed on his goals and have the bike in actual consumer's hands is AMAZING. I have the upmost respect for him and wish him the best of success. I hope to own one of his bikes someday.     A couple of take-aways not expected: Blink will provide charger point operator service and some of NEVI funding is grossly misdirected. Earmarking funds to disadvantaged or poor communities is wasteful. These people can’t afford an EV. Typically, these neighborhoods have a higher crime rate where copper cables are stolen for mineral value. Put the chargers where the EVs are located.

      This is a chicken and egg situation. EVs will soon offer the least expensive and most reliable automobile option for American city dwellers. It is already the case for a billion people in China. Charging is a problem where Level2 cannot be installed by renters and we are enthusiastic about urban charging solution. We agree that the efficiency of the associated capital allocation will be very low. -Producer Tim

      A great deal of electricity is utilized at venues, training facilities, and offices. It can be sourced from renewable sources, offsetting emissions from fossil fuel operations. Governments incentivise corporations to operate with carbon neutrality.     Edison motors competition or collaboration? One major scale issue is legality of making a quasi new car without airbags... This will limit scale unless DOT cooperates.

      Nascar Engineer; what did he mean by Next Gen? He kept saying Next Gen but that seemed to mean ICE. Also, he said you can't run it 30 laps at peak power because you would drain the battery. Ouch. So we would need an EV stock car with 500 miles of range going at top speeds? Sorry, I don't follow Nascar so I'm just trying to understand. I do follow EVs.

    This is awesome. As I go through junkyards I said to myself “if there are electric platforms to put some of these old cars on that would be nice”. I can see how this is possible for body on frame, unibody’s seem a bit more challenging. If I’m not off didn’t many OEM used a specific frame/chassis setup for multiple vehicles. I saw a 50’s-60’s Thunder Bird and imagined how nice it would be if converted to an EV. Those older vehicles seem like ideal candidates to me. I would love to see this be an option. Thanks for the info.

    Send this guy to Sandy Munro! Get Chrysler, Ford or GM to convert one of their closing factories into a joint-venture that produces "new custom classics" using new classic-styled body panels right on top of these chasses. Folks mad at the Mach E can get a '69 Mustang with no smoke & no noise. Okay, I know those guys like smoke & noise for some reason, but I love classic styling and value my lungs, guys! If you talk to them, a lot of those old guys realize that pollution is bad and that it would be nice to have a classic they can just jump into and drive off, no worries about carburetors or breakdowns.

    gotta go for the semi-solid state batteries made for large drones. 5C continuous discharge (made for that unlike cylindrical cells), 270+ Wh/kg energy density, depending on the model. you get 1500-2000Wh in a compact package under 8kg. as for the motor, I guess you need to go for an axial flux motor. Seen one that's rated for 4kW continuous (1500rpm), weighing less than 5kg.

      Price is a major consideration these days. Exotic cells and AF motors are not cost competitive with mass market eBike supplies. Koenigsegg and other supercar manufacturers are paving the way. -Producer Tim

      @@MissGoElectricIndustry I would not consider semi solid state batteries excessively expensive. I paid 1700$ shipped incl. customs fees for 3kWh, and given the simplicity of assembly (no spot welding required), it's a game changer imo. performance is far beyond 18650GA cells despite the significantly higher mass and volume energy density. basically as simple as wiring a BMS to the block and making a case for it.

    After seeing this video I realized that this is the shop I want to order my bike from .about a week later I just placed my order on a talaria !!! I feel like these are the company's that push things forward and deserve what they have built Can not wait till my bike gets here I love in mpls MN so I'm guessing it's gonna be a week or 2.
