It's gotta be Marie the cafe manager. If he wants a wife he will choose her so that he can experience the full mob experience where he marry a normal person that isn't a royalty or shadow garden.
Aurora aka witch of calamity would be his love interest. It’s a guess yes but think about it, she came out to save his sister and bluffs out his atomic thing. She is love with cid, whereas shadow in that competition says to Aurora while fighting that he’d loved to fight her if she was at her full strength. There are very few people with whom cid is real and direct and that is Rose, Aurora and delta. Everyone else like alpha and all definitely love him but keep their distance as he is their lord. Only Aurora could be in a equal relationship with him
I am not so sure that with the character we'll ever have something akin to love...For Better or worse, while it is difficult to consider Cid a fully psycopathic or sociopathic person, he is definetly a deeply troubled one, suffering at least with a very grave form of "Hero Complex", therefore of a person that seek fame and recognizion for his act of heroism or what he perceive as such. Since however, his complex is not directed to himself directly, but to his persona of "Shadow", he is clearly manly in love with himself first. I think that in a way, the author himself acknoledge that fact when in the volume 6 of the Novel, Cid took the identity of an assasin with the name of "Jack the Ripper", Who however Is dressed as a Joker. For all that do not know, there was a classic episode of Batman DC, in which he managed to be kidnapped by Harely Quinn, but he was able to free himself (sort of) by manipulating her psycologically into admitting that the Joker will only love himself, since he is obsessed by his own persona. Also about the Aurora character, I am not so sure if Cid consider her truly a love interest or just a worthy rival, thus I'll admit maybe in his mind is basically the same. Of all the other girls of Shadow Garden, I am honestely doubtful that Cid will ever have truly romatic feeling for them, to be truthful, Cid does care of them, but clearly he see them more like "childhood friends" or perhaps as part of his enlarged family, but with such people, the idea of creating romatic feeling can be counter-productive because they are people that you have already spent a long time before, you know therefore already their defects or abilities, it might surprise several but, there are far more people that prefer to create romatic relationship with persons outside your usual circle of friends or as such. The way I see it, at the moment that there only two potential character that Cid might eventually grow to have romantic feeling; Princess Alexia, who despite the various abuses, is the closest girl that Cid is in relationship at the moment and given their sword training might turn into something more and Akane Nishino, which at the end of Volume 6, has become an unwilling member of Shadown Garden due to Beta insistence(who thought she could use Akane to advance the knowledge of their world and especially get praised by Shadow). Thus, for the latter, I'll admit is a great overstep, perhaps if the "Japanese Return Arc" has been structured differently with Cid returning in Japan alone, without Beta, but finding that he has somehow to retrain in the use of Magic to fight the Magical Beast that roam the war-torn Japan and he met Akane, who she is being used as a living weapon by her brother, and in the end, Shadow save her, regaining all his Magical Prowess, but he accidentaly brought her to Midgar when the Dimensional Vortex reopen..... it might have become the start of a romantic relationship, but right now in the novel, seem like that Akane while she realized that Minoru(the original identity of Cid on Earth) is the Black Knight, she hasn't still fully realized that Shadow Garden is lead by him and think that Cid was also kidnapped by the organization(due to Language barrier issue). The Way I see it, either eventually she realize the Truth or Cid found out about Akane and he put her under his direct wing to monitor her about no revealing to the other girls that his "Shadow Knowledge" is an hoax or Akane will defect the organization and shall be manipulate by the Cult to fight against Shadow. A pity, because In my previous hypothesis, the author could have used Akane(perhaps by having Cid bringing her to the Lawless District under Yukime care to adapt to the Midgar Kingdom), perhaps as a sort of love-jealously directed character by the Seven Shadows, creating all possible comical situations.
Cid made it very clear that he respects Alexia only for her Swordsmanship, nothing else. He loves his Shadow eminence Persona and is completely focused on that. Any serious love interest would require a lot more buildup and that didn't yet happen in any of the newer volumes. A political marriage with either a Alexia, Rose or even a healed Aurora could make sense if the Story develops into that direction. But Cid actually caring about the relationship would require some character development on his side, wich didn't happen in the slightest so far.
@@richardhauer8391 You get my point perfectly...I think that in this department Cid is anything but an "Eminence", unless eventually Cid decided to choice a potential "public wife" for his persona of Shadow to look very cool in his eyes, I doubt that we'll ever see any kinda of similar aspect....perhaps if they introduce a new female character in ES World with turn out she also another isekai person just like Cid and she realized Cid origins due to the connesion with the Moonlight Sonata and so on..... otherwise, I doubt that there will be any person that he will be remotly interested either romantically or personally, Akane could worked in this aspect, but she should have been introduced as another isekai person to effectivly work in this direction. After calmed down by Cid(who despite the surprise, he is actually happy that his "friends/lackery" is in the ES world with him, while Ryosuke is still resentful of Minoru for the entire situation, and especially the fact that now he is a female), Cid confronted Ryosuke about this world and about Diablos cult, thus In a moment of almost comical relief Ryosuke doesn't believe of the existence of the cult or at least not about the aim of resurrect a Demon and think that Cid is making half of that with the usual fantasies, but regardless with little choice is forced to join back with Cid. After Gettan's death and Ryouske happily admitting that he might have seen a paper with the traduction back on Migsutuchi, Cid forced Ryouske to accompany him to Oriana, since Ryosuke had revealed that the situation is growing unstable and two mecernary could grow rich. Fast forward, after a few adventure, one of which Cid is easily figured by Ryosuke to be Shadow while Ryosuke is passed for Zeta by Cid to the few member of Shadow garden that they meet, they reach Oriana captial, but here Cid end up meeting with Epsilon, who recognize Ryosuke to not be Zeta, before she could attack "him", Cid stopped her and made up the story that Ryosuke is in fact "Exa", the surviving member of the "Stylish Slayers", the precusor group of Shadow Garden that was wiped out by the Diablos Cult in a vile ambush and that even Shadow barely was able to escape alive thanks to Exa...(I am not making it up man, I definetely can see such story made up by Cid)...which obviously Epsilon fully believe it! So while they managed to enter the castle and "Exa" even performed a persoanlized version of "The Bat" of Strauss by piano, Cid loved it so much, that he even renamed "the Black bat and the White cat" and of course, in the battle of Ragnarok he performed the work himself using magic, forcing also Ryosuke to dance with him, "Because is theatric" to which Ryosuke reply with a like "Frak, we already died once and it's the end of the world, let's go with a bang"...(I think we all get the double meaning) so end of the fandom, Ragnarok is defeated, Oriana is saved, the people, Clara and Rose save and all the Captail see the moment when Shadow and Exa dance, only to accidentaly kiss each other in the final moments of the dance....I wish it was canon, I'll pay to see the face of Beta and Epsilon in that moment!
