To do a swap strike you need to use 1 bar of meter and then press b(switch) or x(ps4) af the same time as any assist button. The corresponding character will be switched out if you hit the attack.

The most powerful character (in terms of damage) is Goldar, not Gia. Gia is a zoner with some good keep away moves but her close range options are weak and super punishable.
Now do Gia vs. Kim/Ranger Slayer, because Pink vs Yellow sounds fun
