Great Video! Great info on the different types of models. The only thing I’d think that would complete it is if you match up target species/use to the models.
I started getting into the Avets when I realized it’s better to invest in reels that could do multiple setups just by changing out the rods.
Which allowed me to put more money in better rods to suit the different style of fishing I do. Case in point, MXL Raptor on a 12’ XXH Rod for surf fishing, then taking the same MXL Raptor and pairing it onto a 7’6 XXH for fishing blue water charters.

Thanks for the explanation, been trying to find a vidio on the terms and size and capacity of different types of avet reels and you hit the nail right on.
I know these reels are pricey if you can make vidio on cost w/ suggested line so the consumer can expect cost .
I'm seriously considering in purchasing at least 2-3 reels with proper rods,that's the other ?,type of rod for the right reel,I see you use a heavy rod on most times 20-23 tip .
Yea I have many rods and reels I do not use anymore considering selling off so I can get what I need.

Capt, looking for the right Avet reel for slow pitch jigging down to 500-600 ft or so. I like lever drag but I'm concerned about weight. Jigging all day will take it's toll so which reel would you recommend for spj?
Mxj raptor would be a Good choice right there do you know what y9u would be targeting in that depth

Target fish would be yellow snapper and grouper.

I just can not bring myself to buy a reel for that price unless its huge reel with lots of drag and line capacity. 99% of the time any cast out reel with 20 to 30lbs of drag from land or boat is enough to get the job done.
They can but where I truly have seen the difference is when I didnt catch anything and had to pulling in my surf weights and baits.. a lot of times the hooks dragging in a wel...
@@TeamHardLife every little bits helps, but for now I am sticking to what I got. Did you know you can mag almost any conventional drum style reel? Tons of conversion kits. I am going to do one and I will let you know how it goes. I will send you a vid on fb. Might be something to look into for those HXW raptors

Yes and no... if your power casting for super distance possibly.. however when you thumb you also reduce the amount of distance as well..

Im trying to find a new reel that last a long time how hard is it to learn to bring it back in from a cast
Tony Stone not that hard really! I’m 15 and own 2 Avet Lx MC’s and I’ve learned to dial them in and retrieve the line evenly. It almost lays the line by itself your thumb is there as a guide just in case it does start to over lap. Hope I answered your question!
Yes sir thank you Eric you nailed it.. the line pretty much lays itself.. but towards the outer ends of the spook that's where the thumb pressure will help to keep it level
I’m new to fishing. I see these guys 2 nights ago bringing in big drum. I don’t know how to use these reels but I want learn.

All depends on your size of reel but you want atleast the first 50-100yds to be mono and the rest braid for line capacity cause you never know what other species of fiah will hit..
