Did anybody know that the choreography and pacing is slightly different? Kenzie has a small extra part near the middle that Maddie doesn’t have and it threw off the timing 🫠 This one was genuinely difficult - Maddie’s was stronger as a whole because the choreography was made for her and she’s been doing this choreography for a year before she performed it on the show (as Somewhere over the Rainbow) so she had the steps perfected. Lyrical was also one of her best styles. Kenzie did great and had stronger control at some points likely since she was older and specialized in acro, and I liked her somber facial expressions near the end. At I loved the “Maddie face” from both of them at the end! Hate that Abby made this week so toxic for Kenzie, and wish we got to see the full version of Little Angel, which was actually made for her.
I agree! Poor Kenzie was definitely set up to fail, the choreography was made for Maddie, but Kenzie did the best that she could 💕💕 also tysm for making this video I appreciate it!
Ooh surprised you liked Kenzie's switch leap better since that was Maddie's signature, but both of them did that move really well. Overall Maddie's version was better IMO but Kenzie did her best and some of her emotion was really nice. Great vid! ❤
I actually preferred Kenzie’s leap in this particular solo! Feet and alignment weren’t as great, but the height and flexibility were super impressive and I felt her transition into it was more fluid. Interestingly, Maddie didn’t have her switch leap in her version, it was a tour jeté! (That I wish we saw more from her, it looked great!) Agreed, Maddie’s was stronger but I do have a lot of respect for Kenzie’s! And thank you ☺️
I think kenzies solo is better as the song is about hiding depression and Mackenzie did that looking like she was about to burst into tears but Maddie looked like she was depressed and makenzie was more flexible in this solo than Maddie
I think Kenzie was better than with emotion, as Maddie had just a smile and a “Maddie Face” occasionally, while Kenzie was smiling when she was facing the audience, but when she wasn’t, she looked sad, and I think that captured what the dance was looking for. I also never really enjoyed Kenzie’s Switch Leaps, as she rarely hit a full split in them, and I didn’t like Maddie’s either, as she didn’t really hit a full split either. I actually do like Kenzie’s Cry a bit better, and I think if she wasn’t compared and put pressure on, that this would be a really great solo from her, a change and it’s been proven that she’s good at lyrical from Little Angel and Dreamer. That’s my opinion, great vid as always!

even though making Kenzie do this solo was horrible, I really have grown to respect it so much more! she did amazing given the constant comparison (as the younger sibling I know) and has now become one of my favorite Kenzie solos :)
I strongly agree. Since Kenzie did cry, it would have been amazing Maddie stepping out of her comfort zone and try one of Kenzie's solo. She was good at acro but never showcased it.
@jerreexoxoxo31404 I agree. The only acro element she had on group dances was an aerial (either side or front aerial). She rarely did back handspring, walkovers, and she did a round off back tuck only one time on an ALDC showcase

Mackenzies back attitude was absolutely better. Maddie didn’t get her leg high enough in the earlier seasons so it was so sloppy, while Mackenzies was high and pretty clean imo

Love the breakdown! Both of them had really strong acro, it’s honestly a shame that Maddie wasn’t given more acro on her on the show. I also loved Maddie’s musicality and Kenzie’s flow is underrated. I’d say both are fairly versatile, though I’d always thought Maddie was a tad more since her lyrical and everything were cleaner
