I used to follow the SC2 scene in the early 10's and in Europe they were making dick jokes while in the US they were wearing suits and had to watch their language. It's just such an odd contrast at moments.
Because religion has permeated American society to such a degree that they are offended by “profanity”. Australians and Brits don’t have anywhere near the level of religiosity. Thank goodness.
Tim has another song on the same subject called “come home Cardinal Pell” which is really powerful. 15 minutes is a song commenting on more general values people have adopted in the 21st century
This version: ruclips.net/video/KtYkyB35zkk/видео.html There are two non-animated versions, so just to be sure, this is the one with the best delivery.
I'm not going to ask you to react to this again (cause for me this is the best version) but he did sing this *not only* in a bigger concert but in a big arena with a full sized orchestra playing with him. It was absolutely majestic.
That performance is fantastic and the orchestra saying "Fooka" makes it very funny, though I'm glad they did this version. Tim's eyes in this actually conveys the anger he feels on the topic. The orchestra version is funny..this one is hard hitting.
@@jemxsthe contrast between the content and language in the song and the “poshness “ of the SSO make the orchestra version so hilarious . Both make an amazing impact.
I'm an atheist, but it's refreshing to see people of faith recognizing that there's a big difference between organized religion and an individual's practicing of their beliefs. I've met a lot of Christians I could debate with and have fun with, the people I take exception to are those who are members of an organized cult and use that as a weapon of oppression, attempting to inflict their religious views on all of society. People who have true faith in their heart shouldn't need a church (nice though many of them are), they shouldn't need to oppress others to feel secure in their beliefs or feel any need to force other free Humans to conform to their will. IMO, that's not Christianity, that's a desire for authoritarian control under the guise of faith.
A man who uses his knowledge and music to rip away the fabric of injustice. I so appreciate Tim Minchin. P.S Swearing can be a art in any form of entertainment. CrankyGranny Western Australia
Come Home Cardinal Pell is another good one on this subject. Tim wrote the song for charity to raise money for victims of the church to travel to attend a hearing on abuse in the Catholic church at which Cardinal Pell was supposed to testify but didn't want to return to Australia.
Your reviews are sooo great it’s hard to believe! Kudos. Very insightful. You add a lot of value to the songs/videos. Congrats for being way above the average reaction channel.
Aussie here, swearing is punctuation to us, we’re like Scottish folk and lower class Brit’s. We are blunt and to the point lol, especially when we’re pissed off. The Catholic Church has more than earned our ire.
Well you noticed how meny times you heard the F-bomb it's the exact reason for the song. He had a conversation with a comedian friend that he wants to do a song that has the most F word's in one song ...... this is the end product.
This was a follow up to his earlier "Come Home", on the same theme, and the Pope's dismal failure of moral character around that set of circumstances were the reason for this justified outrage. Come Home is well worth listening to.
I get what you mean about the small room, but it is an experience to see him do it with the entire Sydney Symphony Orchestra behind him when he says, "What is he SSO?" and the entire Orchestra responds in unison. Love your reaction here. But that's not news. I always do.
Another great and considered reaction. Another Tim song that saved my sanity as a fist time new mother of a squalling new born undiagnosed lactose intolerant baby! The song is Lullaby! 😂😂❤
I hope y'all keep doing more Tim songs. There's definitely some more good conversation songs like The Good Book & White Wine in the sun - and even his more "comedy heavy" songs like If I Didn't Have You & Confessions I think still prompt some fun conversation. Dark Side & Rock and roll Nerd are great songs plus are way more about Tim himself and give a better picture of him as an artist. Regardless love it, thanks for the content!
Speaking of the power of Tim to talk about the reality of the situation, I am actual Irish altar server who saw my fellow servers "preferenced" by priests' attentions and do better because of them.
As others have said, Australians ... um ... swear ... a lot. I'm an oddity because I really don't - although I was recently so angry about something on Twitter that I let loose, and then posted Tim's "if you don't like the language" line. Anyway, in terms of swearing, I recommend this from an American comedian who has found his home in Australia. ruclips.net/video/YYQ0_9Ha4Gw/видео.html
Would love to see you guys react to some of his pure comedy songs. No less edgy, but I'd love to see you focus on how funny this guy can be in videos like Storm and Lullaby.
This is not actually a funny song but a deeply profound song I think you guys would LOVE. Please react to "Pure Comedy" by Father John Misty. It's deep AF.
I absolutely love your critiques! Would you please give your reactions to Madison Ryan and Clark Beckham--Tennessee Whiskey. It deserves your opinion. Thank you!
I also have to add to the multiple recommendations for White Wine in The Sun, and then my personal favorite of his, Dark Side - specifically this version ruclips.net/video/3xQmJ_vxHB4/видео.html
I don't get why people think this song is controversial or why it's an indication that Tim is being a villain here. He's calling out one of the most powerful institutions in the world for protecting thousands of child molestors, which they absolutely did, and Tim Minchin is the controversial thing about this video? Dude, the controversial thing is THE CATHOLIC CHURCH COVERING FOR PEDOPHILES, not the guy saying that they're evil bastards for it. He's right and unfortunately some people still need to hear it.
If you listen to some of his other stuff you'll learn that he most definitely does not "agree with people that have a spiritual oversight", he's just saying that he's not singing about that in this song.
“The Pope protected priests when they were getting fiddly” Tim’s song about Cardinal Pell was also a cracker of a song…….these truths……. and the deaths by suicide of thousands of people abused as children by powerful men in religious institutions……long live the whistle blower…….. ruclips.net/video/EtHOmforqxk/видео.html Tim gets those truths out of Pandora’s box…..and says it like it is…… Also away from this topic Tim’s insane talent, brilliant mind, incredible musicianship and beautiful and touching lyrics are on another level. He also is an incredible songwriter here is The Absence Of You….for his wife ruclips.net/video/48bfKs5p4Ik/видео.html. “I’ll take Lonely Tonight “ is so beautiful and heartbreaking.
You guys really need to do…THE WHO! First hand to play all parts and instruments as leads. No harmony stuff like the Beatles. They are the originators!! Quadrophenia
It’s about impact. Getting people offended, then making them think. Its brilliant.
Americans are so sensitive about swearing. Fbombs are like punctuation for Aussies and us Brits lol

Seeing Minchin live is still probably among the top 5 greatest things I've ever experienced!
Yes, yes, yes! Thank you, guys, so on point!
"Storm" next, please!
And not the animated version
@@peterdubois65 definitely not the animated version! It misses so much... Tim's humour is enhanced by his expressions.

Cont first. Then Storm.
The song is to point out that you should not be more angry at a word than someone that hid predators.

He's not remotely the villain. He's the court Jester, pointing out what needs to be said without worrying about offending anybody

Fun fact, I believe that this song does actually hold the record for most F bombs in one song
I think it's probably "Fucking in Heaven" by Fatboy Slim.
I believe it's joint with Bo Burnham's "eff"

Bruh what. How can you listen to this song and be like "Tim Minchin is like the Joker"?!
Hey fellas, I love your open honesty and introspection. Love and peace from Australia
Such a jolly, jumpy jaunt of a song. And such a witty and topical message.
He is brilliant when he address the students with worldly advice you will be blown away
“Inflatable You” if you’re looking for something non-religious or non-political.
Keep up the great reactions! Love the honesty.
Storm next please!! The live version, not animated! Absolutely brilliant!!
I love Tim Minchin..he writes songs that make you think.. love from Australia 🇦🇺 8:51

In high school I loved Tim Minchin and Bo Burnham, nice to see you've also reacted on Tim
No, tim is a hero. He would be like deadpool. He will save anyone he can, but hes open to making himself look rediculous.

The fact they are more offended by Tim's language than his message speaks volumes...
For something not religious themed and more personal/introspective from Tim, check out his Rock and Roll Nerd song!

I wouldn't choose this song to show off Tim. It's pretty simple musically. He was seriously angry when he did this one.
Really not sure how you can call someone “a villain” for verbally attacking the perpetrators of child rape 🤔
