    Hey it hurts but 5 things us Chargers fans need to remember: 1. This was a known rebuild year where we overachieved
    2. Harbaugh did his job in year 1, establish the culture
    3. We knew the receiving core was below average, the whole point of this year was to find any gem, we did in Mcconkey
    4. We knew the defense needed improvement and in a single offseason and very little cap room, the defense improved by a lot and looks great going forward
    5. This offseason we have more money and an established culture, this will be the worst team Harbaugh has.
    Bolt Up!!
    We will be alright we Overachieved this year

    Watching Herbert yesterday was like watching a rookie who had no idea what to do. Greg Romans play calling was absolutely horrible, and was like he was putting calls blind out of a hat. No scheme at all! I don’t know why they didn’t keep the same players and plays for this game that we were so successful with the last few weeks! No identity today on offense, and was disgusting to watch!

    • @shane8252
      @shane8252 2 дня назад +1

      The play calling wasn't that Bad.
      Herbert just doesn't understand how to run an Offense. Especially in big games.
      He had 0 1st downs with his Legs.
      Also on 1st and 10, with underneath route open. He threw an interception to OJ, who was bracketed, on a deep post-corner route.

    • @WntrSoldr69
      @WntrSoldr69 День назад

      @@shane8252yea no underneath routes where even on that play lol. there was 3 eligible receivers. bootleg to the right. a delayed deep over corner from Q, the same exact route from Ladd (bad WR spacing in that call) and the 3rd receiver running a wheel. so you have 3 verticals concepts. and the QJ was open for a split second. Lassiter stumbled. the saftey had inside leverage playing Ladd. but when you’re throwing 45 yards crossbody and don’t have time to set your feet. the ball hangs in the air longer than it needs to and then Lassiter has time to catch up on the route. horrible play design and nothing you said was right lmfao

    • @shane8252
      @shane8252 День назад +1

      @@WntrSoldr69 You don't seem to know ball, because you called that play completely wrong.
      Watch the all 22 (27:20). It's Cover 1 w/ press man on QJ (x) and Ladd (slot), and off man on DD (z).
      QJ and Ladd run the Same Route (Post-Corner) on opposite sides. Which is a standard concept vs cover 1. The Safety HAS to choose a Corner to defend.
      QJ breaks to the Corner 1st, which makes Lassiter Flip his hips towards QJ. When Lassiter commits, Ladd then Breaks off his Route.
      DD was the "Rush" route. He was lined up as the Z, against off-man coverage. He runs a simple 7 yard out. At worst, It should've been 2 and 3.
      It was a great play design vs Cover 1. With Herbert rolling to his right, QJ should've NEVER been an option. Unless there was a clear busted assignment.
      Ladd was clearly the deep Read AND Won his route! With an anticipatory throw to the Right Corner, it could've been an explosive play.
      However on 1st down, if you don't like (or understand) the look. Then throw UNDEREATH the coverage (DD on the Out), and stay ahead of the chains.
      Unfortunately, Herbert often struggles at processing and rarely throws with anticipation.

    When you consider where we were at the end of last season, what was accomplished this season is nothing short of incredible.
    The defense was one of the worst units last season, and now they are one of the best. The offense was obviously short handed, and has had to scratch and claw their way to score enough points to win 11 games. The interior of the o-line was bad, the running game was better but not where it needs to be in order to effectively implement Harbaugh’s system, the receivers were mostly a disappointment, other than Ladd, and there really wasn’t much help from the tight ends either.
    The season was better than I expected, and I’m very excited to see how they go about finding the best talent to fortify the team moving forward!

    This game knocked my socks off. What happened on Defense had eye-popping plays and effort. What happened on Offense? I remember the Chargers hired an analyst at the very beginning. I don't know how he's used but, did he and Roman study this Texans team at all? (don't know how familiar Roman is with the Texans) I worry about the possibility of cumulative effects of past bad coaching, repeated changes in coaching, bad sacks and now, skimpy receiver talent, creating a continual subtle trauma that shows on the field for Herbert. The best part of getting to know the Chargers team is watching young men succeed, so, this is sad for me.

    I think Jim and Joe Hortiz need to have a deep talk with Greg and Herbert on how they want this offense to look. The inconsistency in the play calling needs to be addressed prior to any offseason moves cuz that will dictate how they wanna operate. If they wanna run what we saw on Saturday, they need to get more HIGH END weapons around Ladd. If they want to run the traditional Greg Roman offense, they need to get a TE1, RB1 with less tread ware and solidify the IOL. They need to address this but I have faith that Jim and Joe will make it right by kickoff of next season! Not stellar end but still a good building block and EXPERIENCE that this team needed.

      @Willtellthetruth Roman didn't know how to use Herbert effectively. Romans recievers with the exception of the rookie don't know where the sticks are in key situations. Routinely short of the first down. And about that running game that don't realy exist. It's not up to me so Roman will return as Harbaugh is religiously loyal. Hope Roman gets the Center and guard he needs to bolster the O-line. We both know another receiver with the moxie of Ladd is a must and hope Q.J. continues to improve. And another running back.
      If Herbert going to grow in that offense he needs to stay healthy and get some support, consist play from the line, backs, recievers and a fucking solid game plan week in and week out from the guy that put together today's game plan for the offense.

Down to use Zion Johnson and QJ in a trade package to move up and get Warren, or if teams bite trade up to get McMillan. WR,TE, Edge,guard, center, RB is what I want us to draft. Listen, I know Herbert didn't have a good game, but it wasn't bad. Obviously the final box score looks terrible.
    Justin Herbert: 14/32, 242 yards, 1 TD, 4 INT...
    We obviously watched the game and have more context though. Two of those interceptions were from drops. In fact, there were, I think, 7 drops in total? If you just take the drops away, you're looking at a 21/32, 300+ yard, 2 TD, 2 INT performance.
    In fact, if you didn't have the early drops, you're in an entirely different game script early, and you might be shutting out the Texans up multiple scores at halftime. At the very least, if you don't have the two INT drops, the Chargers are still comfortably in the game, and Herbert doesn't need to force the final interception.
    Sure, in a better game script, the Chargers probably run more, and Herbert's stats go down, but he's still maintaining that ~66%, 250 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT. Again, that's not an elite performance, but it's not bad, and it would have gotten the job done against this Texans team with how our defense was playing. The only difference was the drops because there are no receivers on this team outside of McConkey, who is a rookie.

    You guys are being a little harsh on Herbert. You said it yourselves, the dropped pass by Disly should have been a touchdown. Then he drops another for a pick six (I think?). Also, that pass to Ladd was a bit high, but if you look at the replay, it did go right between his hands, to be returned for another pick six. Such a bummer, but there’s 21 points for Texas off of turnovers and dropped passes, and add another 3 for another int. Yes, the int on the throw to QJ was q bad throw, but honestly QJ needs to do a better job of contesting that catch, even though we all know that is the weakest part of his game. Finally Alex, this is the playoffs, there is no “coming back to a player next week, today just isn’t his day” option. Herbert has such limited talent to go to, and limited options. QJ, and Disly really had to step up today, and they didn’t. They will build it up and bring in players for a better 2025, certainly talent wise. Overall, a very good year for the talent they had, and the injuries suffered. ⚡️⚡️

      He wasn’t good today and it is what it is. We can’t keep excusing him over and over again. We know it’s not 100% on him, QJ and Dissly were awful, but he did not elevate this team to a win today either, he threw 4 interceptions. Only 1 of those I don’t put on him, but the first one especially was atrocious.

      @ Asante can’t play the run well enough for this defensive scheme. They won’t give him the contract he can get elsewhere. Fox doesn’t play fullback. And Bosa would have to play for an extremely cheap country to justify a roster spot for an injury prone 3rd down specialist.

    Tee Higgins and Trey Smith. I really don’t see why we can’t pay both if we cut Bosa. And then draft more offense early and often, hopefully Warren or Loveland. I want to see Herbert with an elite O line and weapons and I don’t need to think about improving the defense until that happens. Because Minter can make up for a mediocre roster and Roman can’t. It’s as simple as that.
