Fun fact,overtale isn't actually the name of the au,is humantale,i made some searches and discover that overtale is an au where all monsters made to the surface and frisk gave their soul to asriel in order to live,so asriel is the new ambassador
Yep. Although I get the confusion between AUs, considering there are AUs like Fellswap and Swapfell. Overtale's case also isn't helped by it being one of the more obscure AUs with not much information on it.
The first time I heard of this au, it was called swaptale instead of underswap.

listen i mean no offence at all when i say this but frisk and chara don't have a canon gender there gender is left up to the player that's why there's no direct gendering in the game toby fox made frisk and chara so anyone could put themselves in there shoes so anyone could embody those characters and anyone can relate to them if your specific versions of frisk and chara are non-binary cool but they don't have a canon gender so the original characters from the game can be any gender the person wants them to be for the sake of immersiveness in the story so if you don't want us to misgender your specify versions of the characters that's fine but there is no misgendering the originals cause there gender is left up to interpretation for me my versions of the characters are female because i identify with that more if your versions are non-binary i respect it but just know that the original versions of the characters don't have a canon gender have a good day and sorry if any of this seems rude in any way i don't intend for it to be

Thanks to Toby, we can choose freely what gender Frisk and Chara are. As someone said that already. What I have seen in the start, is "please respect our already small community with small respect" (and that is not your choice to make for people) or whatever it was in the start (too lazy to check it out). This situation could be considered as intrudive (forcful, imposeful and etc), because you - YOU forced down the implication of those 2 being gender neutral, while also openly stated that you are also such a being (so, if not for Frisk and Chara being canonical characters, it would be a self-insert situation, too-). Though, I don't really care about such thing.
Now. Another thing - the vessel that we are playing as is not innocent, either. Maybe it got corrupted by LV or such, it still had it's moments of free will. And during genocide this free will was scaring monsters or some kind of provocation. Yes, there was the moment with Mettaton, of course "At least, you won't destroy the humanity" by reading it's face, or from feeling of our attack. When we are using act, the thing that would happen is thought through by our vessel, the only moment when we are free enough to give our OWN opinion is Mettaton EX quiz, the moment when we are typing the best quiality thing or something about him. Anyways, our vessel is creepy at snowdin, when it's just going through turned off puzzles and brings Papyrus's spirit down constantly (that is mostly our vessel). During the snowstorm (the moment when Papyrus would start the fight), the vessel just goes to him and he is ready to give us a hug, we can just see, that he is not the one who started the "fight". Though, maybe it's just so we could kill him? Or spare him. But again, the vessel started this fight (there is something similar with Asgore, but no choice for us this time). During the confrontation with monster kid, the vessel itself started to act creepy, going closer and closer, scaring him off. Can't remember anything from hotland, if there were such moments. The new home - the vessel itself scared Flowey. It never had any reasons to do so. Judgement hall. It took the step forward, when it was warned not to do it. The expression on it's face changed every now and then, if we throw away the theory that Sans can remember resets and is just THAT good at reading expressions, that he understands how many times we died. When we spare him and he kills us - he sees, that "we" are angry (the vessel is). Again, we can't show our emotions on the vessel, itself only can do that. So, the vessel is creepy, pushy and angsty (plus, the vessel itself thinks up the act choices, we can just choose between them, so if there are "insult" option, you need to blame the vessel for creating it and it's opened up version when you click it, while we are guilty for choosing it) during genocide, even takes control from us sometimes. While yes, we are guilty for killing monsters, the vessel is not that innocent either (and even the basic biology or something about social life agrees, that kids are way more cruel than adults).

@RylishZaliou12 He literally mentions chara right before he says "She" and "Her" if he was still talking about toriel he would've said toriels name instead of chara's.
@RylishZaliou12 Seems you need to go back and learn some more english bud, If someone just uses "She" or "Her" without informing you who they're talking about, you don't know who they are talking about due to lack of context, Which in most cases when someone talks about another, they usually include a sentence that states their name. so in this example flowey should be talking about chara. as he states chara's name before referring to them as she, if he were talking about toriel he would say toriel instead of chara.
