    What a unique channel. As an audiophile, I should find it corny and non-sensical (which I do, sort of), but I like it! I even like the piano in the background. And you may have convinced me to actually buy these since they seem to fit exactly what I want out of an IEM. Plus, it’s nice to be different when taking on this hobby and creating a channel for it. Subscribed! 👍

    I actually like the background music as I was listening to this video wearing my new B3's. I totally agree with your take on the sensitivity of amps. I first plugged them into my Schiit Stack and was like something is weird with the interaction between mid-range vocals and the upper harmonics. They actually sound much better plugged into my BTR5 dongle. I am going to play with some impedance connectors to narrow down the correct level. Also, with tips I ended up with the Moondrop Spring tips instead of my usual go to KBear 07s. You nailed it when you indicated the bore size is small. The sound tubes come right up to the edge of the bore and can be easily be blocked by many commonly used tips destroying any chances for a decent coherent sound signature. Overall, they are a great pair of IEMs. Crystal clear and can produce a thumpy bass when required. Your mileage may vary as this is one of the most subjective hobbies on the planet, but I am extremely happy with my purchase.

    • @catadegen
      @catadegen  Год назад +1

      Given that I am not an expert in mixing/mastering by any means, i think this should do the job well enough for cross referencing, from speakers>headphones>earphones, once you get used to its sound signature.
      Also, It's really hard to compare iems to full-sized headphones... The only comparison i can do is with hd6xx. Let alone soundstage, size of imagining (cuz its obviously better on headphones), while i think 6xx has indisputable advantages on midrange/natural timbre, the bass and sparkling details on B3 can give better insight into the elements that a song contain.

    Hello,
    I have been using premium true wireless earbuds (Sennheiser, B&O, Unique Melody etc.) for a few years but I would like to go one step further and buy a dac dongle for my iPhone and some wired earbuds. I'm looking for a crystal clear sound with dry and powerful bass (but not "artifacts" or overwhelming), incisive highs and above all very high volume, since I mostly listen to house/techno/minimal music/rock/pop (no classical at all). Documenting myself on RUclips I would have thought of this set: Luxury Precision W4/W4 EX (I would also like to understand the difference between the two, from the listening point of view that I have described and to know if they are "plug and play") and Moondrop Blessing 3 (I since these iems use a 3.5 mm jack and I wanted to understand the difference with the balanced 4.4 mm one and if it can be used with these iems) Do you think it's a good choice?! Do you have any other tips for me?! I am truly a beginner in the field and would gladly take advantage of your advice! I await a kind reply. Thank's in advance.
    Best,
    Paolo Cermelli
    P.S. I appreciate yr RUclips videos and yr impartial approach!!!

      @catadegen  Год назад

      Hello there,
      Since I don't have LP W4 or anything related from the company on hand, my apologies for not being to compare or give any comment on the dongle. In case you're using TWS earphones for years and trying to switch to wired earphones, I'd sincerely suggest you to start from something like 7HZ Salnotes Zero or Truthear Hola, to have a taste on what a standard entry audiophile grade earphones has to offer nowadays. It's not a budget oriented advice, but rather to build a sound profile about what to expect on more expensive iems later on. Also, i found the balance between dongle and earphones' a little bit off. Always start from the thing that makes the most difference for sound (aka earphones themselves). If i were you, i'd split the budget of LPW4 (482usd), into a more affordable but still commendable dac (something like moonriver 2 for 190usd,,, but 2ti is coming tho, so watch out), then just spam the remaining 300 usd into another earphones, since it's almost impossible to have one earphone to do every genre perfectly. Last but not least, the difference between 3.5mm and balanced 4.4mm, while theoretically if 3.5mm provide enough power for the iems, 4.4mm won't matter much. In reality, you'd probably notice the difference in terms of sound stage and separation (usually bigger ss and better separation in balanced mode, but less regular imaging and presentation). So its a give or take. ALSO, as long as your earphones has detachable cable and connectors, you usually can run it balanced (as long as you have the balanced cable, e.g. 4.4mm/2.5mm/xlr etc.)
      Good luck on your wired iem journey :)
      Best,
      Cata

    Just curious how the stack up against the kato cause i enjoy the katos alot but wanted an upgrade. Would these be worth it?

    • @catadegen
      @catadegen  Год назад

      They are not comparable in my book, and thus not forming a direct upgrade path. Kato features natural, impactful & lush(kinda) single DD sound with good technicalities; B3 features a hybrid setup that kinda emphasize on ease to listen with very fast bass response and capable BAs (slightly higher technicalities), however some may consider note weight being too light or sound is too thin as result.
      So, are they worth it? In my own situation, yes, because with spring tips on, this is just an easy going set that comfortably sit on my ears, doing everything without much disturbance.
      But if you are looking for an upgrade from Kato, this won't cut it, and you may even dislike it because of it's "lighter" approach to sound in general. Just make sure to demo it before buying it.

    • @catadegen
      @catadegen  11 месяцев назад

      I'd take this over blessing 2 dusk, because of the revamp of bass (to the quality side, not quantity). It is "good" for everything with the correct eartips, games included of coz. BUT, its not that kind of usual tuning that will grab your attention when you listen it for the first time (at least i didn't), but it kinda grows on me, to the point that I think, i can use this on everything and have an accurate sense of how things should sound. My conclusion remains the same tho, its a very specific, truly monitor like sound and one should not blind for it before demoing.

  • @QRR-
    @QRR- Год назад

    Interesting take, my experience with my audio interface is that it has quite high output impedance of 66ohms. And it feeds less than 0.75Vrms to 32ohm headphones/IEMs, the less the impedance the less the voltage too. Almost everything I feed it sounds prominently inferior to my apple dongle (the difference on Hexa is the worst particularly could be its hybrid design apart from unmatching impedance).
    Sadly I don't have high impedance headphones to test that the difference would be smaller, in which the interface can have higher output power and voltage. Or it could be that DAC on the interface is so bad. 😆

      While B3 is better in technical performance, Kato features a warmer/ALMOST lush approach to midrange that is so satisfying in music listening. Most importantly, hybrid vs single dd, they are not in the same category imo, because someone really don't like the BA timbre (or some may find it superior due to generally better technical performance).

      I own and like every bit of KATO as well. Tbh, the difference between KATO and B3 is essentially single dd vs hybrid, which is hard to call upon a direct upgrade. Weight wise, I feel like b3 is a lil bit lighter, maybe it’s a ratio thing?… cuz its bigger, but not heavy at all…(sry, I’m travelling with b3 atm, don’t have KATO on hand for direct comparison ;/).
