I am flying Qantas business class to the Philippines tomorrow so I made a playlist of Qantas business class videos to get me excited and you are on it. I am only nine and I am already studying to be a pilot. Do you think it is too early to start studying?
Been on this flight a couple of times already. I've got relatives in Turin and also Hannover, a short domestic flight from Rome. Crazy that you can access the continent from obscure Perth.
Thanks for the upload. Haven’t flown Qantas for many years so it was interesting to see what they are like now. The lounge at Perth looked great and not overcrowded, a rarity these days. I’m trying to place your accent, there’s a hint of South African, mixed with a bit of Australian. I love trying to guess accents.😁
Thanks Paul! The QF international lounge in Perth is an odd one as it only caters to 3 flights a day but it's probably one of the more lavish business lounges in Aus. I'm from Belgium so yes Dutch has a bit of a SA sounds to it :D
Hi Immanuel. I just discovered your channel today with this video, though I've been watching other travel channels for a few years. I liked your video (also, I "liked" your video today) and have subscribed to the channel. Just a couple suggestions, if you don't mind...the background music in part of this video makes understanding your words more difficult for me, so I'd prefer that you keep it very soft or eliminate it in future videos. Also, if I may get a bit more personal, I think you'd look great without the beard. (I have a beard myself, so I'm not prejudiced!) Anyway, with these small points, I look forward to watching more of your past and future videos, and many thanks for producing them!
Is the Perth to Rome now on the 777 plane which do not have 180 lie-flat bed? Also, I think it stops in Dubai now too, rather than direct from Perth to Rome?
@@FlightHacks Yeah, I think you're right. I got that info when I logged into Qantas' website and did a quote for the cheapest flights. Btw, I usually business class and pre-COVID, I could a flight from Australian to Europe at around $5,000 (especially with FinAir). Now, post COVID, most flights from Australia to Europe on business class is around $7,000 to $8,000. There are no more business class flights that are around $5,000. #smh Can you please shed some light into this? I'd love to hear your point of view on this.
Old school bus to the international terminal which will take around 5-10 mins. It’s shite because QF doesn’t want to move to the international terminal.
Perth Airport is really grading its feet with the upgrade to Terminal 1. I think it’s not going to be done for at least 10 years and, of course, it needs to be done now with Perths growth rate.
I’m about to book the Rome - Sydney flight with just a technical stopover in Perth…. So it’s more than 21 hours seated in economy class. Is it impossible to sleep there at all? I feel like it’s gonna be quite a struggle
@@allak8294 I've done the Qantas 787 economy Perth - London, so on the same plane and a slightly longer flight. It was fine, it's relatively roomy for economy class with a 32 inch seat pitch. Strongly suggest booking a window seat so you are undisturbed, and downing a few reds with dinner. I slept for maybe 6 hours in total?
@@adrianscherma4761 You are lucky if you can get 6hours sleep in economy. On my usual long haul, 11.5 hours, I used to go P.E. but even then I couldn’t manage more than 2/3 hours sleep. Since upgrading to Business I get 6/7 hours - bliss. The food on this Qantas flight looked very average I would have expected better but it’s not a big deal. The Perth lounge looked wonderful, much better than any of the lounges I’ve used in Europe or America.
You'll need to be in business or have One World Sapphire or Emeral status (ie. Qantas Gold or higher). Alternatively, you should be able to use a lounge pass if you have one.
@ 8:08 you say "to wake up in europe the same day" QF 5 leaves Perth of an evening and arrives in Rome the NEXT day! Why do travel vloggers always get the little details wrong?
@@FlightHacks cool! the last time Qantas operated to Rome was in the 90s with QF15/16 from Melbourne via Bangkok then Rome. Was 3 times per week on a 747-300 according to a 1995 timetable. They also served Athens, Paris and Frankfurt. They dropped the continued QF service to Manchester in about 1994 after their partnership with BA and flew Manchester passengers to Heathrow instead. Thats when I flew QF as a kid in 1996 from Manchester to Brisbane via LHR and SIN back via HKG and BKK on a mix of 767-300s from BNE to HKG then to BKK and 744 on the Heathrow leg. The SIN to BNE was on a 747-200. And we had to fly the BA shuttle to Heathrow from Manchester. Still got the posh economy class menu cards they handed out at the time. Very good service back then and plenty of free flowing booze, porcelain dish for the main course and real cutlery knives and forks. I even remember a small real glass for the wine with the meal. The crew gave me a pack of playing cards also.
Depends. To me the end to end experience is what I take into consideration. I think the QF seat is comfortable and in that 1-2-1 configuration we all want in J. One of the only airlines to offer PJ’s - albeit nothing to write home about. The catering isn’t bad, as are the drinks on offer. The bad wrap they’ve had in the last year really isn’t all that much to turn me off flying them.
I don't understand why any airline that does ultra long hall doesn't have a proper business class seat (22 inch wide and 75+ inch of pitch) Swiss air, in my opinion, is the biggest abuser (I am not including Lufthansa because they are in the process of updating their product)
meanwhile, Qantas quietly axes its international hub at Brisbane Airport and plans to transfer many flights over to Jetstar ir scrap them entirely if they are served by other airlines. The demand is too low and who the fuck would wanna go to Brisbane anyway?
You could have walked to the economy class section half way through the flight and mock them how comfortable the business class seat is and what a shame that they have to cram up in the tiny seat for hours at end...
You did not deem it important to display the entire menu on an inaugural flight? Could barely discern after spaghettini the beef choice you had. To say nothing of the inflight snacks and bkfst, the last completely omitted so one is unaware what was catered. Entirely understandable how the images were due to dim lighting. Food is as important as the seat to some of us in luxury travel. Utterly disappointed -- esp. since you next amusingly claim in the blurb that the video took a yr. to edit.
Thank you for your complaint, I've forwarded it to our complaints department. In the meantime, we have pictures of the menu in our written review to supplement this video: flighthacks.com.au/inaugural-qantas-perth-to-rome-business-class/

I Think The A380 Is The Flagg Ship In Qantas Feet.Great Work
Nah A380 isn't the flag ship. Qantas only has 4 in service. Emirates has over 100 A380 in service thats a flag ship number.
787 is the flag ship because they fly long haul this this ones and Sydney to Johannesburg, Sydney to santiago. Perth to london DIRECTLY
Im pretty sure it is the a380. If it isnt maybe the 737 or 787, as breezy said.
Is the Perth to Rome now on the 777 plane which do not have 180 lie-flat bed? Also, I think it stops in Dubai now too, rather than direct from Perth to Rome?
Qantas doesn't operate any B777, i think you might be confusing the Emirates codeshare flight?

Very nice video, I'm 198cm so definitely will feel a bit of pain when i do J class from Sydney to Joburg on the Qantas Dreamliner soon! 😂
Yeah, that will be a bit cramped! I'm 180 and it's already a bit small. Still leaps above economy though ;)
Self inflicted. Nobody is forced to go to the hellhole that is Joburg...

Yes realised after uploading and hoped you wouldn’t figure it out 😂 my mistake
Nice travel report ❤. How do you get to fly premium classes, is it out of your own pockets, YT sponsors or credit card hacks?
Majority of my travel is funded by frequent flyer miles. The rest, cheap cash fares when I find them. I don’t really do sponsored flights
@@FlightHacks Thanks for your reply, appreciate it.
Business class flight last July. Shame that my special meal ( gluten friendly) didn’t eventuate. Crew somewhat embarrassed.
Oh are they flying back to Rome again? Its been a few years since lol
They will start again soon, figured being a year late with my video was appropriate 😂

better airline out there than Qantas
That’s for sure! But also plenty worse. Connecting Europe/Aus non stop is a big selling point for some people though

Wow long flight 😮 You boarded as single man and arrived as married man after 16 hour flight 😂😂😂
Don’t tell my wife 🤫
What was the jet-lag like?
It's not bad considering you leave at night and wake up in Europe in their AM. That's for business though, I'm not sure how one would feel in economy.
@FlightHacks thanks
Good to know. I will give it a go next month. Great video BTW. Thanks for the upload
Why are you at the domestic terminal if you are flying international😂 😂😂? By the way I love your channel❤❤❤😊😊😊

I’ve had that same beef on the A380 and it was tender and juicy 🤤
Catering must have nuked it on the ground
I guess that’s what happens when you cook, freeze, store on dry ice and then reheat a steak
The dunnies must have been in bad shape by landing in Roma
They were kept spotless. Also red eye flight so most people would sleep through the ordeal 😅
@@FlightHacks that gives me some comfort 😊
