For your next one you should do 1 of these 3:
    1. Doki Doki Morning
    2. Awadama Fever
    3. Catch Me If You Can with Kami band intro

Great & thanks again from Japan有難う💛。As Rajeev Menon suggested below please react to "BABYMETAL-KARATE (live UK Download 2016)". That is the best version of Karate at open-air festival although BM performed this song at festivals in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in 2018, too

Nice reaction. All these years later I still get chills when Su starts singing. That melody line is really cool. Now that you reacted to the MV and heard the song you can check out all the live versions. You'll find that when Su starts to sing it's still really cool. The way she sings that melody line like she's letting you know something is about to go down. All that and Yui and Moa still bring the Kawaii while being adorably dangerous. Gotta have some fun while doing karate. Enjoy your journey through the Babymetal galaxy of music.

That pre-chorus is so clean and piercing like laser beam, kinda reminded me of Amy Lee but stings your ears a little bit harder in a good way

That melodic line you mentioned, that's the power of the harmonic minor scale right there. And it contrasts so well with the major mode chorus.

The thing with BabyMetal is that you can't said wich one is your favorite BM song until you listen the hole catalog, it always change and you never know, you can say is your favorite temporarily thou. Thanks for your reaction, although I do love the official MV you need to watch this one live, specially live at Download 2016. Kitsune up! 🦊🤘

Let me add to the chorus. Karate LIVE at Sonisphere Download Festival in the UK 2016.
    Make sure 2016.
It is fine to watch a studio version f a BabyMetal song but to be thoroughly understood and enjoyed you must follow it by the best LIVE version. Ex. Megitsune.

I know that a lot of fans enjoy the live version more, but this is one of the very few Babymetal songs where I actually prefer to listen to the studio version. When they perform it live, there's some great audience interaction, though, and it's a great chance for Su-metal to show off her belting at the end there.
Personally, I like that the song doesn't go hard again at the end and opts for a more muted conclusion; the lyrics aren't triumphant, but more about persistence through difficulty and personal obstacles. A big ending would have sounded too triumphant. Instead it's softer and kind of somber, which fits the song's themes better.

Agreed! This is one of the only songs I think the MV is better just because to me the visuals of them fighting themselves it gives is just so good.

  • @silly_programme5061
    @silly_programme5061 2 года назад +17

Another great reaction man! Impressed that you noticed the difference between the first and second verses - they're actually just switching which instrumental part backs which part of the verse. In the first verse, you've got those legato lead-ish runs behind the 'seiya soiya' part from Yui and Moa, while the syncopated staccato djenty stuff backs Su's pre-chorus vocal line, while on the second verse it's the other way around.
I agree with you that this song has some flaws; it's not my favorite of theirs, but it's still a pretty good song. Headbanger is indeed the best though ;)
As for what you should check out next, that depends on whether you're willing to work around copyright blocks by obscuring the video you're watching in post. If you are, check out the Babymetal Reactor Resource channel and watch YAVA! live at Big Fox Festival. If not, perhaps the Uki Uki Midnight PV from Rockmaykan 2012 or Akatsuki live at Budokan Black Night.

Great reaction again - and favourite songs are a personal choice (but I'm with you, 'Headbanger' is right up among my top favourites).
'Karate' was the lead single for their second album. It is about fighting adversity, when life knocks you down and everything seems too hard so you're hurt and crying, its about standing up and fighting on, helping each other through the hard times. They used karate to illustrate this as it is a Japanese martial art and reflects their culture - as with a lot of their songs it is also about always moving forwards.
In the video the figures in white were the girls all along and they were conjuring up their own inner demons to fight against. They beat the first, the second knocked them down but they got up to eventually defeat themselves (did you notice the reflections of each of the girls in their own eyes when the masks shattered and it was revealed as them? Not many people spot that).
They did watch a lot of martial arts movies to get ideas for the choreo as they wanted it to look as authentic as possible. Moa catching the fly was a nod to Mr Miyagi in The Karate Kid. Mr Miyagi may have used chop sticks (and it may have taken him two or three films before he caught one), Moa caught her fly with her eyes closed - first time.
This song and video won 2 awards. "Best Metal Video in MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2016" and "Best Metal Song in 6th Annual Loudwire Music Awards".
So what next ... pick a song, any song 😃

    Good reaction, thanks!
Answering your questions: What kind of metal is this? Easy! It's BABYMETAL. They invented their own genre.
Is the official video better than live version? I'm totally in love with Su's clean live vocals and all my playlists are made of live versions. Does it answer your question? :) This music video is extremely well produced though. "Megitsune" music video is another must watch (I know you already did).
This performance is just BABYMETAL (and the Kami Band) with no effects, no crazy stages, no lasers, no pyro... just metal: "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" (Live at Sonisphere 2014): ruclips.net/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/видео.html

Live Babymetal is Best Babymetal. Now that you've seen the MV, checkout their performance of Karate at Download 2016. Have fun checking out the rest of their stuff. 50+ songs, and none sound the same. As you can probably hear, they mix metal with various other genres... Ska Metal? Checkout Yava with the Kamiband intro.... Trap Metal? BxMxCx.... Latin Metal? Night Night Burn....Prog Metal? Tales of the Destinies.... 🤘🦊🤘

I enjoy all types of music and don't have my identity wrapped up in any of it, and this isn't a knock, but I don't understand why metal insists on classifying and subclassifying everything. It honestly makes no sense to me. I never even think of it. The closest I'll get is maybe grouping by mood, but most of the time I'll listen to a song without it saying anything about me, as a person, and then I'll like it or not. Maybe I'm weird in this regard, but I don't think so.
