Parallel Productions' debut project is West End Switched Off. West End Switched Off is a brand new, exciting series of concerts and recordings that arrange musical theatre into acoustic, 'Live Lounge' style covers, collaborating with a wealth of talented musicians and performers. The first album features Ashleigh Gray (Wicked, Cool Rider), Adrian Hansel (Hairspray), Ian Stroughair (20th anniversary tour of Rent), Katie Hall (Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera) Dale Evans (Ghost, Miss Saigon, From Here To Eternity), Simon Bailey (I Can't Sing, The Phantom of the Opera) and many more.

Jodie's voice control is just incredible. It shows even more as to how talented she is, along with her ability to take on the training she has had too.

Carl Anderson (RIP) and I were having a glass of wine and he asked me if I knew anyone who might be able to do justice to the song and maybe play his part. I had a few suggetions and if I'd heard Jodie back then I would have mentioned her name. She is great.

I have listened to numerous versions of Heaven on Their minds and Jodie Steele's,version has,so much conviction and passion behind it
Then you never heard the original.
Jaw-dropping, no matter how many times I see this... Vocally, this is imho the best rendition of Heaven On Their Minds. Though concert acting leaves something to be desired, I believe Jodie will truly shine if she stars as Judas in an actual production of JCS.
This is my favorite version of my favorite song EVER and I’ve watched this so many times. Thank you so much Jodie you are a queen!

there's a genderbent version on spotify now and it's really good!
Her version is really similar to Tim Minchin's. They use a lot of the same vocal melodies for the high bits.
His version makes me cringe, hers gave me chills
I am a huge fan of the original play and musical and have seen the movie a hundred times and the original cast Neeley and Carl Anderson as judas together on stage like 6 times...untouchable until now....this is an INCREDIBLE passionate performance and delivery... reading some of the petty comments ( one negative in my view is too much on this one) and about this and that ...it is about passions listen with your heart and soul and not from from shallow or smug point of view... she blows it away...Carl Anderson will always be the best...but then the question is who is better Michelangelo or Leonardo...but when I came across this by accident I was floored and listened to it ten times straight not a moment she doesnt nail it dead on....with her razor sharp vocals and pace and most of all heart...these are the kind of treats in life that make it so rich ...

the song sounds 'dangerous' and convinces Judas is full of doubt and will DO sth. at least for me
It's definitely a different interpretation. The usual Judas is already a little unhinged and is having a breakdown in the opening number, but this Judas sounds like she knows what she's doing.
Of course she is not acting properly. The character is in a state of deep pain and anguish

To everyone who says she's not acting it right or doing too many riffs, this is a cabaret setting where the plot doesn't matter as much as the song. Also, this is literally my favorite version of this song!!!! I'm not a fan of the "ruff" Judases because I think the whole point of JCS is to try to make you see it from judas's perspective. So her voice is perfect because I flips the whole jesus vs. judas upside down. Fabulous job!!!
Actually, I think she did an excellent job. I think she fits the role perfectly. If I closed my eyes I can here a bit of anxiety in her voice, as though she’s really trying to get through to Jesus.
I think the rough voice makes Judas more relatable, in contrast to the crisp and clean "godly" notes of Jesus. Jesus only really falls into a rougher sound when he has doubts at Gethsemane, and that's when he's most relatable to the audience.
I think she has an amazing voice, I'd never argue against it, but I don't think a clean sound equates to audience relatability.

I want to see most musical theatre gender bent, but JCS is at the top of my list! Ever since I was cast as Female Judas in an amateur punk rock production that fell apart before it hit the stage... Damn, it was fun to try to put together though! We had a boy cast as Mary Magdalene too, partly because of his awesome falsetto, and partly because we just really wanted to queer things up. ;)
