I’m excited to see this! I’ll be in Cuenca for 2 or 3 months next spring! Also, you’re getting close to Peru so I want to give you some ideas. Please please do not skip Chachapoyas and the Citadel of Kuelap (ruins Trent, ruuuiinnss). If you drop down via Jaen you’re promised so much beauty and you’ll be closer to Chachapoyas. The coastal drive has Tumbas & Mancora which are beautiful but nothing beats the mountains in the highland areas of Peru. You will not find anything over crowded with cameras and tourist because most people are focused on Macchu Pichu and the southern part of Peru. If you are worried about missing “Peru’s best beach” you can loop back to the coast (assuming you’re heading toward Lima) for surfing in Huanchaco... and more ruins. Chan-Chan and La Huaca del Sol. Peru is amazing although the coast is all desert so I think some overlanders get the impression that its only sand because they miss out on the highlands. Well Thats my two or 3 cents.

If you get sunburned, dont put any creams on it, just make the skin wet every 15 minutes or so, until you go to bed. It will look much better the next day and in many cases you can save your skin from peeling off.

Here in Canada, I've completed my undergrad with the Anishinaabe peoples of the Six Nations; learning their culture, medicines and teachings.
Chaga is a very sacred and powerful medicine that is not to be over-consumed!
It is a natural blood thinner + a natural energy drink- depending on how your body takes it.
Our class was given a brewed overnight Chaga tea by our professor, and a woman from our class started bruising (which is common!)
Not quite sure how strong Four Sigmatic's Chaga tea is, and I am sure they know the medicinal + powerful properties it has, but I am concerned though because I did not see this on their site for the Chaga Elixer. It could be crucial to know for anyone with health related issues.
I hate to be that person, but please be careful on how much you drink of the Chaga tea per day.
One per day or per two days is great!
You guys are always pretty mindful about Indigenous teachings, especially down in Southern America + Mexico!
Try to carry this mindfulness throughout your trial on Four Sigmatic :)

Yeah me too. I've been following a few channels that they've coe friends with and are cool people. The Italians ( here) and the manteys and i forget the other couple because are on a burnt out break and stopped posting.
The Italian make great and very educational videos.
Two of my favorite places that are hopefully on your route through Peru, that I hope you can check out. Vilcabamba, the sacred valley just before you leave Ecuador. Great hiking! And Chachapoyas in NW Peru to see the Kuelap pre-incan ruins. Spectacular and a 3km gondola to get there.

Hello I just want to say something about the ancestral places you are going to find in South America. The real name is “Archeological site” instead of “ruins”. In Spanish ruins means: destruction, bankruptcy, economical lost, decline.
Also in this hemisphere, specially when you are at altitude you have to use a lot of solar cream protection because the ultraviolet radiation is very high, for the global warming. So be careful.

Hi guys, another wonderful adventure, and a slice of life revealed. Beautiful places, wonderful foods, good company. What else could anyone ask for. P.S. put on Sun screen before you over do it. That hat does not protect your face from getting burned. Allie, you need a hat also, but get one that gives you some shade, please. Too much sun at that alititude can damage skin tissue.

If you guys are interested in ruins and you’re planning to go anywhere near south-eastern Paraguay, (you have to go there because of the Iguazu Falls and the Itaipu Dam) there are some very interesting ruins of the Spanish Jesuits from the 1600s. There was a movie made of that history with Robert DeNiro and Jeremy Irons called “The Mission”. Great history of Paraguay. Es my Patria.

Trent love the hat, you wear it well. Glad to see Frank in the video.... he steals my heart, especially since I no longer live with Carl or Jack. Tell Allie, coffee first always! You have to have a few minutes to sit, wake up, and drink coffee. Also, it was the swing that made Allie sick. It happened to me once at a state fair in the swings. As you know my x was a Naval Officer and when I went through it he said many of his classmates couldn't handle the simulation training they had to go through to fly jets. Allie is never going to go on space exploration or fly jets. Glad she is feeling better ... 4 months and counting. Love you

You 2 are having having an amazing time, some time ago I said to my husband can you drive from the States to to Sth America he wasn’t sure, watching you and seeing those countries is amazing. Hubby visited back in the 80’s he wanted to go to South Africa but it had just opening up after all the apartheid stuff it wasn’t easy to get around, so he went to Sth America instead and he had the most amazing time. Maybe one day, we’ll buy a van in the US and do what your doing love independent travelling we have travelled all over Australia this is our home, he’s a Canadian by birth, one day I hope you can visit Australia it’s fantastic, lots of nothing, but that nothing is magic!

Since your in Cuenca, find a store that sells Llama sweaters, their cheap and they feel like your wearing kittens, to me. My sister lives there and every time she comes home she brings me a few sweaters.....if I ask nicely. They cost about $15.00 US.

i always have mixed feelings when i visit ruins. like the ones in mexico city are about 80% restored. it’s great to see them... but also we’re looking at something that’s less than 100 years old.

The hat looks good atop the Trent. :-) Remember, when at altitude, there's less atmosphere between you and the sun -- it's easy to forget until you start to get that slightly broiled feeling. Sunscreen, or at least suntan lotion, and keeping your skin hydrated, can be helpful. Am looking forward to further adventures -- and maybe some more impressive ruins!
Allie, if you haven't, you should check out Itchy Boots channel. For those of us who drive around in a steel box it's very humbling to watch her travels. Her courage is awesome! 👍👍Probably too intimidating for Trent to watch. 🙄
