i want to thank you, your videos inspired me to chase my dream of being a ceramic artist. So I found a very talented potter to teach me and now I'm a student potter!
@@sleachpots so you tube just gave me this notification, 3 years later lol, happy to say I have carried on potting and I learn something new every day, I'm developing my own style and have opened a small studio that I share with other potters in the area that needed a space to work. I also have started a program working with special needs children hand building in clay.
A few years ago I was at a book store in Tel Aviv looking for a craft book, running into Simons book. I opened it and just set down and was staring at it for an our or so. I decided to buy it, quit learning acting and become a potter. Today as I wach this video, fluting my own pots for my first order of 220 pots for a restaurant in town, together with Simon. Thank you for the book!
Simon, this is a very attractive texture. I love the fact that you took it from your father, in which I believe you mentioned that he used the corner of the blade for his fluting...The whole time appreciating your explanation of how, my heart was on- Please don't snap! - Have you ever had one snap on you? Thank you 😊🐝by the way, Great perspective 👍
I love your videos! Very entertaining and informative all in one! Looking forward to many more. Also, tell us more about the neighbor Harry?

Thank you yes my Dad used the corner of the tool and I will demo that very soon and some other fluting designs....coming up.
Perfect look for a pot of that shape!
Sometimes that bit of variation is what sets a human made piece apart
Simon, "fluting" takes a level of control that I don't think I will ever attain, but, you younger folk should give it a try!
You might be surprised ...have a go anyway !
It looks great, but why not do it when it's more wet?
Idid one in miniature but I wanna perfect it next time. Pie or quiche plate. I was a bit late so it was drier than leather hard
... So you and your neighbour together are Harry Potter!
Imelda Clay lol!
Ha ha yes !
Thanks Deetadeeradee 😅
