The year is 2020 and I am just now finding this video for the first time! As a long time Cibo Matto fan, I loved the versions of these songs. It was much different from the original or from what they did when I saw them live in concert. Wish there was more Cibo Matto in my life!
Cibo Matto, always awesome!...DJ, what happened? How can you ask what they have been up to in the past 10 years...its Miho Hatori! just do a simple google search before...solo album, gorillaz, bossa nova...I really like Miho and Yuka's response!
I first encountered this wonderful band back in '99 at Lilith Fair and was immediately and irrevocably charmed. I purchased Viva and Stereo right there and then with the meager funds I had available. I still have those CDs; I think they're in a box somewhere. Somehow I missed this set, even being a CM and KEXP fan. What a wonderful wake-up treat for this dreary 2020 morning.
So lucky I’m 64 and knew them right off but I would love more years and the sort of molding ;-) they could provide for a four year old when your brain is open like a sponge !Lucky you
That interviewer had NO IDEA who she was interviewing and has obviously never heard of Cibo Matto - that was odd - I loved Miho's response - awful interview, but the performances were great - I am so in love with the drummer - -
That was a terrible interview. The host couldn't be bothered to do 10 minutes of research on Wikipedia? She should have known each member had done lots of solo work and collaborations and various other projects, and she should have known what the new album was about. Instead of asking generic questions, she should have catered her questions to the band's persona and be more specific. Also, she had no sense of humor at all, and was completely unresponsive to any kind of edgy/subversive humor. Miho and Yuka could probably smell a boring stiff from a mile away, so they immediately gave awesome and hilarious answers.
You're a bit too demanding with this host, in my opinion. The moment that was following her question was a bit awkward, for sure, but the responses were brilliant. If they were not asked this way, her responses would have been dull and not interesting. Instead, what have we got? They answered "we were in jail" or "reading the bibles, religious stuff, buddhist words" and Yuka Honda saying : "we learnt to cook...with the smallest equipments". Those artists are not poppy and merchandized, they just search, and that's what make them precious and valuable to me. (sorry if my syntax is incorrect, i'm not an english native speaker). Peace bro'
@@EchosGraphiques It's honestly a pretty rough interview and Morgan is known in this country for doing these types of interviews (where she even has given wrong information she got off wikipedia). It's terribly rude, cringeworthy and awkward.
Hilariously awkward interview and terribly handled, what a brilliant response though. Maybe Morgan should have done a bit of Wikipedia research the night before!
"so i think the question on everyone's mind is, what have you been up to since the last album came out? In the last 10-11 years have you been working on anything?"
OMG how can you have Miho Hatori in the studio and don't know anything about her solo carreer and so it's the same for Yuka... I guess some people don't know about wikipedia
Morgan has no Idea who she is interveiwing.... has no Idea what these ladies have been doing for 15 years.. the solo projects and other bands and endeavors
@@waltonsimons12you’re probably right… I couldn’t come up with a name. She’s an idiot though, and cringe to boot. Sorry for the delayed response. 5 years… eesh. 😂
I love the way they were fucking with the interviewer. 🤣💕 Where the hell have all of these people been, who have never heard of Cibo Matto lol. They have been around for a long time!
Been a while, that's for sure. Hah, I recall, long before RUclips, heck long before we all had internet it seems, you had to rely on cool US TV shows to find new and cool music. I still get goosebumps when I hear Sugar Water
You are correct sir. Her name is Yuko Araki, aka Mi-gu, and she's been Cornelius's drummer for many years (on and off maybe?). And Cornelius is another GREAT band.
I think the questions where quite simple and obvious, for people that make awkward music you need to make more complex questions maybe, well what do I know about it =)
No, simply if you are interviewing an artist of that level you should AT LEAST look up beforehand what they did in their career in the last ten years on wikipedia, that question was extremely awkward and rude and Miho was crearly taken aback.
im 94 years young and i love cibo matto - best band i want them to play at my funeral who listening in 1893? ME
I've been listing to cibo mato since I was 15 back in 1738. I'm 900 years old tomorrow and I'll never stop listening to them
"Well... We were in jail." these girls are hilarious
SUCH AN UNDERRATED BAND

just wonderful.
Amazing timing, solid band, glad to see they have continued making so good music
how are people hating on this? it's extremely groove-oriented and just awesome!
I love Cibo Matto, but i was about to hate on this because they played nothing from Viva la Woman or Stereo Type A.
drummer = master level
They KILLED IT

Your drum playing is wonderful.
Do you play ? Drums are pretty average. Female drummers are always good to see though !! The rest of the band is just as wonderful 😅
Stereotype A is one of the best, eclectic albums of all time. (IMO) 😎🫶🏽
This is my favorite version of 10th Floor Ghost Girl.
shut the fuck up no one cares
gosh yuka is so beautiful when she smiles
im just in awe of how beautiful emerald tuesday sounds

Not sure hipster is the right word. I feel like a real hipster would already know everything about Cibo Matto. 🙂
