Absolutely love this stuff. It's hard to go back to other WB pomades after using this. Great pomade for people who have wavy or curly hair like myself. Straightens out your hair no problem and makes it very easy to achieve the style you're looking for.
The Pomp Been using Layrite for a while now and it works the best for me, great review. Im actually happy that I watched this because I was thinking about trying the Suavecito but you mentioned you wished you tried the Layrite before ever messing with Suavecito and made it pretty clear Layrite is the better product. So I'll take your word for it and I wont downgrade haha, thanks dude!
+kwade220 Alas toe each their own but the regular yellow-canned Layrite I found overrated over two years aog and I switched the buying Suavecito (original, not the firm hold) in bulk. Much better and a more masculine scent as well too. Alas to each their own, though as we all have differing hair types now! :D
My girlfriend bought me two jars of this stuff for Christmas and it's easily become my go-to pomade. I'm actually thinking about buying the 32oz jar, hah
I'm on my second 32oz jar... Definitely worth it. I got em off Amazon but the second one was supposed to be super hold but deluxe came in... Not really complaining doh lol
Christopher Alfonso- Wash your hair with a generous amount of conditioner, towel dry to damp, then use layrite Super hold. I have thick wavy hair and this worked. Good luck!
Definitely not pointless! I was using layrite for 4 years then I stopped. I gotta say I was using it wrong the whole time. A coworker always had this awesome psychobilly hairdo and I always felt stupid asking him how he did his hair. so much for being ignorant. great vid. totally helps. now I can pull out my 4 cans I've been sitting on for the last 5 years.
Hey the pomp, I have thick, wavy, kinda curly and frizzy hair. Which pomade do you think would be able to tame the waviness and curliness to make it straight and slicked back kinda like your pomp? The layrite deluxe, super hold or imperial barber classic pomade? Or any other water based pomade? Not really looking forward to petroleum based as I'm afraid it cannot wash out easily. Thanks!
Layrite is suppppperrr good the layrite super hold is good too youll find yourself using less layrite is a good water base tho especially for curly hair
I actually have really thick, coarse hair and I've also tried Layrite deluxe but it doesn't cooperate with my hair Would you recommend a thicker pomade like Slick Devil or something else because Slick Devil is always sold out
Mr Pomp ...Do you need to use any other product with this e.g or a mousse or anything.. Ive seen some tips on internet et that advise using extra product with water based pomade ? thanks simon
EdilarinProducts I hate layrite, because it gets hard and your hair sticks together in little clusters.. better use a good oil based heavy + medium mix it up for better results. And you can survive a rain cloud
Ricardo8388 layrite super shine doesn't get hard.... it styles just like an oil based but washes out in 1 wash, the only negative is the smell, but the smell can easily be overpowered with some hairspray or strong smelling shampoo
EdilarinProducts It doesnt get hard? well I must have spend way to much money on a fake yellow yellyish gel like substance in a layruite container with a vanilla smell. and btw super shine isnt that the brown kind? this video is about the normal yellow one
+BJ Penn No worries: With a modern day Water-Soluble one as their called or other styling names such as Gel-Pomade or Unorthodox Pomade which is what these lines are, Gel-Pomade or Water-Soluble, however you choose to name the styling item/product, its fine. They rise out with one rinse and they go fine enough with the whole Rockabilly/Neo Rockabilly sub-culture lifestyle that many like me lead & choose. Just one thing: If you're like me and dislike super grease and you have traditionally fine, Caucasian hair that is more thicker and needs work, then yeah the oil-based petroleum pomades (such as Murray's Superior, Royal Crown Pomade, Royal Crown Hair Dressing, NuNile which is also a Murray's product line item ect) won't really do shit for you. I slowly tried them all over a two year period and I had to buy new novelty pin up/Marilyn Monroe bedding comforter as well as to re-buy two modern day country-western cowboy shirts (long sleeve) from Amazon. So yeah they ruin things plus time around four plus washes (!) to get out. I disliked how if it got on things it ruined them or nearly did, such as t ruined a past comforter/sheet set of mine. Ugh.Honestly you can have a nice "build up" and not have to reuse as much for almost three days in a row, but yeah I disliked the honest petroleum based pomades as I'm a single wash a day guy. Found 'em overrated myself but alas to each their own! Best of luck in finding a new item as well too! But I believe while the hair less thing is an old wise tale I _DO_ know for most ethnicities that using real oil based pomades all the time isn't good in the long run. Alas to each their own, though. I certainly was broke out a lot with pimples when I used oil based ones but I cleared up in under two weeks once I stopped. Water-Soluble or Gel-Pomades as I call 'em are nearly 90% better & I prefer them myself.
How long does it take until this pomade dries out? I like restyling my hair throughout the day but I cannot spend tons of money on super high end products (I don't have the money, neither do I have enough to keep trying out different cheap products). I do not want to keep throwing away pomades that let me down. I am looking for a pomade that doesn't dry or at least takes hours to dry, no to low shine (natural look as much as possible), strong hold (I am asian and my hair is very thick and difficult to work with), doesn't matter if it is hard to wash out either, fifteen dollars and under, I know I am being very picky but any help would be great! Thanks!
+Jon Gallivan Most waterbased/water soluble products that fall under the "gel" or "orthodox" category will dry up. You're leaning towards the unorthodox waterbased products, which have a bit of hydrogenated castor oil in them to prevent your hair from drying up and giving it the ability to style throughout the day. Some products I can think of are: Odoud's WB, Flagship pomades, clay pomades...basically a lot of what's on the shop. They won't fall into your $15 budget, but they're on there for a reason. If you have thick hair and it's difficult to work with (wavy or curly) like mine, you might be best off with Blackship (strong) or Odouds (med-strong).
Harrison Truong Thanks I checked out all those products you mentioned. Now I am pretty much sold on the Odoud's pomade except... the shine. In the reviews I saw, they say it has a slight shine and that is definitely what it appears like. but that's under neath artificial lighting. If I was outside underneath sunlight would you say this product still retains a somewhat natural look without too much shine? Right now I am using Old Spice spiffy Pomade. I know it isn't the best thing to compare to something higher end such as Odoud's but I am trying to acheive the same look as the Old Spice but without it drying on me. Also thanks for the quick and informative answer! I really do appreciate it!
+Jon Gallivan Yeah, there's a tiny amount of shine. Although it's considered a waterbased product, it does have quite a bit of oil in it, which I'm assuming gives it the shine. A light application won't give you tons of shine, but the more you use, the more shine it'll have due to a slight buildup. At this point, I think the best solution for you, if you're going for a strong-hold with no shine, or something along the lines of a natural-style, is to use a clay, or clay-like product (i.e., Uppercut Deluxe, Flagship Black Ship). Clays provide more grip, leading to that natural look with good styling capabilities. One downside, for my unruly hair at least, is because the product itself isn't heavy, there tends to be a need for more restyling due to strays popping up throughout the day. It's less slick. And the other annoying thing is with thick hair, and the amount of grip these products have, you're going to have a fun time applying it...
Mr. Pomp, how do you manage to apply the pomade so easily? My hair's length is close to yours, but when I try it feels like it's about to rip my hair off and applying to wet hair doesn't help manage nor achieve the desired results. Any tips? I have this same pomade.
MrCesarM XD Definitely not. The pomade stays very soft and fairly pliable. It's great for a natural look. Your hair can still move a bit and not plastic and rigid. It's a creamy pomade that never hardens or stiffens. Sometimes I get a stray superman hair that falls down my forehead, which is fine, but I can just run my hand back through my hair and it's back in place and my hand stays clean. Their super hold is great too and doesn't get crunchy either, but it definitely holds in place better and gets a tad stiff. It's noticeably thicker and much more of a wax. The down side of the super hold wax though is that in the heat or sun, it falls apart immediately and becomes like the pomade.
clone 2k I used to like the super hold when my hair was shorter and needed something very strong. Now my hair is nice and long (down to the tip of my nose), and doesn't need anything crazy strong. I prefer the super shine and original now, usually the super shine. The super hold can get very rigid when it dries which I did not like. It was almost plastic feeling.
diljo13 I don't understand though , because everyone I know except you, have used it and has said it is very crunchy. I've used it myself and it really does harden up, not as much as a gel but it hardens much more than pomade should. It's not that good
Suavecito pomade smells like Axe hair styling products which i was disappointed in. but over all its an okay product. I think layrite beats it. has a better hold.
+djeondj Hmm I thought that Suavecito was cheaper & superior from most third party sellers on Amazon. I also thought that is smells greatly masculine and smelled _NOTHING_ like an Axe styling item/product, but alas to each their own. I remember trying Layrite 'round three years back and being too disappointed. The yellow-canned one made my hair _FAR_ too scrunchy while Suavecito (original, not the Firm Hold) is perfect for my Neo Rockabilly needs. Alas to each their own, though!
+Sheik Muhammad Nabil Suavecito pomade. Not the Firm Hold. Love the original Suavecito. You can get three tins from a third party seller on Amazon for around one of the overrated Layrite. I by Suavecito regularly. I love its scent as well too, its very masculine like a nice cologne scent as The Pomp noted in a past review and uniquely strong. Never liked Layrite's gel-like problems or its feminine scent. Alas many like it and to each their own! Their red one, the Layrite super shine is solid but I last tried it over three years ago but for water-soluble pomades I use Suavecito as it reactivates well if I wanna restyle and it gives me great height. Alas to each their own as per always! :D
+MrFireDragon he actually sorta does. If he had shorter hair and a slight mustache then he would look just like him. I assume you are calling him racist because you thought this guy was saying he looked like him because he is Asian which makes you the more racist one.
I bought suevacito because I seen your good review you now you said layrate pomade batter than suevacito ? hummm....... groaarrrrrrrrr..I have to save money to buy it then

you basically emptied the whole can for one use.

My girlfriend bought me two jars of this stuff for Christmas and it's easily become my go-to pomade. I'm actually thinking about buying the 32oz jar, hah
If you know it's what you want and fits your needs...shit...I'd just go for the jug too.
I'm on my second 32oz jar... Definitely worth it. I got em off Amazon but the second one was supposed to be super hold but deluxe came in... Not really complaining doh lol
You can buy this at Tilly's! And maybe some near by barbers. (I took a 30 min drive to get some).
Which water-based pomade has the most neutral odor, nearly odorless? I've got some CREW pomade in my hair right now and it smells like a hair salon.
Has matte finish. Had to add the Layrite Super shine as a topper to get some shine in the hair....
It is really great you do these product reviews.
Great video! I have thick curly hair, will this work for me ? If not any recommendations? Thanks
I like layrite but I love suavecito I use a mixture of suavecito And brylcreem I love it !
i have thick coarse hair (half samoan). what's the best water based pomade that's thick like an oil base that you'd recommend for my hair?
Anthony Robots uppercut deluxe
I've been watching your videos a while and they're really high quality, but just a instrumental in the back would do a lot of good
Hey the pomp, I have thick, wavy, kinda curly and frizzy hair. Which pomade do you think would be able to tame the waviness and curliness to make it straight and slicked back kinda like your pomp? How do create your pomp when it starts to fast wordward
if I wanna stay away from water based ,but I have thick wavy hair, eat type should I use? because I hate the hardening gel feel
The Pomp, I'm wondering if you can please do a review of the classic Dixie Peach Pomade?
I actually have really thick, coarse hair and I've also tried Layrite deluxe but it doesn't cooperate with my hair
Would you recommend a thicker pomade like Slick Devil or something else because Slick Devil is always sold out
Mr Pomp ...Do you need to use any other product with this e.g or a mousse or anything.. Ive seen some tips on internet et that advise using extra product with water based pomade ? thanks simon
This is what I use. Also available in a huge 32oz tub for $80, which should last over a year.
it won't last for a year unless you have super short hair
EdilarinProducts I hate layrite, because it gets hard and your hair sticks together in little clusters.. better use a good oil based heavy + medium mix it up for better results. And you can survive a rain cloud
Ricardo8388 layrite super shine doesn't get hard.... it styles just like an oil based but washes out in 1 wash, the only negative is the smell, but the smell can easily be overpowered with some hairspray or strong smelling shampoo

Ricardo8388 no the brown is super hold, super shine is the yellow one. It scoops out like a cream and it stays restylable during the whole day.
i love that hair flip at the beginning
Does constant use of pomades cause hair loss? 5:30 The Pomp
the hair is all stuck together and a crack formed that's why you can see the scalp its not from hair loss

cool grease Z / fiber grease
***** thanks man cool grease z is exactly what I have been looking for. Hopefully it works well with my hair.
which is the best the lockharts professional water based or layrite original???
try the uppercut deluxe pomade, awesome waterbased stuff!
Will be reviewing that product probably next next weekend.
+The Pomp do the layrites harden up like gel
+Slick Dick yes all water base does
+Nick Johnson No they most certainly do not 😂😂
+Zach Lemme clarify this for the both of you. Yes, all orthodox water-base pomades do dry up, however unorthodox water-based pomades dont dry up.
what shampoos and/or conditioner do you use?
neutrogena triple moisture conditioner works great and tea tree shampoo
Is this stronger than cool grease red?
Mr. Pomp, how do you manage to apply the pomade so easily? My hair's length is close to yours, but when I try it feels like it's about to rip my hair off and applying to wet hair doesn't help manage nor achieve the desired results. Any tips?
I have this same pomade.
asian hair?
He has thin pencil straight hair. You might have thick or wavy hair.
the best stuff about layrite, is you can run your hand through your hair without greasing up your hand
diljo13 Does it get crunchy during the day?

layrite deluxe pomade, or layrite super hold pomade?
Why is your part angled so high?
Why did he scold viewers in the intro? Came off as sad.
Does the hair get hard when it dries?
u betcha
How long did it last?
did he towel dry or blow dry his hair?
Suavecito pomade smells like Axe hair styling products which i was disappointed in. but over all its an okay product. I think layrite beats it. has a better hold.

Where do u get that at?
it also smells really good
What brand tee shirt is that?
Wild bald spot appears at 5:52
suavecito or layrite ?
+Sheik Muhammad Nabil layrite
+Sheik Muhammad Nabil Suavecito pomade. Not the Firm Hold. Love the original Suavecito. You can get three tins from a third party seller on Amazon for around one of the overrated Layrite. Layrite hands down!
i only use wb on windy days
Smells just like playdoh
Does this work on curly hair?
Get Layrite Super Hold for curly or thick hair
Esneakers don't use Layrite for thick hair use suavecito for slick back or comb over layrite is really bad wth thick hair
you should review high life
he looks like glenn from TWD
That's racist
how?
+MrFireDragon he actually sorta does. If he had shorter hair and a slight mustache then he would look just like him. I assume you are calling him racist because you thought this guy was saying he looked like him because he is Asian which makes you the more racist one.
Politically correct kants.
Kai Chu I don't really get that at all.
05:53
I bought suevacito because I seen your good review you now you said layrate pomade batter than suevacito ? hummm....... groaarrrrrrrrr..I have to save money to buy it then
U need to start pulling your pomp forward

LOL hella straight forward intro
The only pomade i use... EVER
Schmiere please
i find the comment at the beginning funny. My review is try it yourself I'm not gunna review it
holy shit Glenn!!
tang ina that hair looks good
i love this stuff.
It's funny how he calls himself the pomp yet he doesn't even do a proper pomp
At least his is better than yours. Stop criticizing others and do I your self.
+TheBossIsMyName hahahaha how could you know??
I know!! it's like the shittiest thing like jus a big blob with no definition, not rounded and high on the top! uh that always bothers me..
There is no "proper pomp". There are just different variations of pompadours. Some high, some low, some full, some with partings.
I Loved this pomade hold my hair nice all day long Loved it
great!!
Yo is that your girlfriend? She’s fine. Way to go
Best pomade!
if he cuts his hair it will look better
05:51-05:53 😕
what happen duringbthat time
+Fatal teamz it looks like he has a bald spot, which makes me worried to try pomades
+BJ Penn oh yeah now i see it
it's just a crack in the hair and its slicked together so you only see the scalp
Sorry I commented before watching the vid.
I ordered Murray on amazon
why cant you do suavecito. is it cause you cant afford it?
-.-
+Kala gomes you should really get your head out of your ass and look on his channel. he has 3 different videos for suavecito and all 3 are older than your comment by 1 month if not more so dont come at me with "he just recently made those reviews" you lazy fuck
Suavecito is cheaper than Layrite so you're pretty stupid for this
Layrite cost more fool lmao
Seriously your hair looked way better at the beginning of this video.
Fast forward*
So you refuse to review suavesito yet you reference it like 50 times, your explanation for doing so made absolutely no sense, like much of your video. You start of by saying they are similar and end with saying they are completely different. You come of as having no credibility...
I agree. Plus, he calls himself the pomp but doesn't even have a pomp.
He did a revie won
Suavecito original is better.
This stuff looks Grease-Tastic
Hair looks cool, but the style doesn't suit u. Just my opinion.
Count how many time she says Like .
57 times! Wow
men you really use a lot of product.
I mean his hair is long, so u cant really not use a lot of product.
Slikhaartv is much more better for hairstyles..
Slikhaar reviews waxes, not pomades
Firstly, I like the Profile Picture. Secondly Slikhaar use hair dryer and are into more "Modern" or "Metrosexual" hairstyles where as pure pomade guys are into to comb hairstyles like Pomp, Contrures and slick backs.
That explanation of comparisons made no sense.
Literally like.... Why are you making product review videos lol. In the end he did review those.
saddest youtuber ever.
You can buy this at Tilly's! And maybe some near by barbers. (I took a 30 min drive to get some).
I bought suevacito because I seen your good review you now you said layrate pomade batter than suevacito ? hummm....... groaarrrrrrrrr..I have to save money to buy it then
