What can you find with a UV light?

Here is a tour of my office in the dark. I'm using a tiny ultraviolet light. There are some materials that fluoresce. It's really cool.

Many gemstones and crystals glow different colors depending on the stone while using UV light. This can help you in knowing whether you have a fake stone or crystal, etc. One example is when using a UV light cubic zirconia will not fluoresce versus a diamond. And usually the purer the diamond is when you would get more of a blue light while using the UV light and diamonds that are less pure will give off green, white, yellow, purple, green, and red colors. Other minerals and stones can glow one color or a rainbow of colors. UV lights are known to be used in the mining industry for these reasons.

Its called a blacklight. I used to have one, shine that pea shooter on a velvet painting, THAT will really "glow in the dark".
