    Can you add a link in the description to the video where you outline the best settings for *VR with 3060 and 4060 cards (or their equivalents)?* These are the most popular cards and the work in making them operate at their best would be super helpful to a lot of people. Thanks.

    I'm running DCS with Pimax 8kx, 4090, 13600k and 64Go DDR5. Almost same settings as you. I have better results in FPS and quality by increasing pixel density to 1.2 than increasing render quality in PiTool. This gives me almost perfect 75 FPS in Persian Gulf with the mirage near buildings.
    Thanks for the video. You convinced me to upgrade my CPU 😆

    many thanks for the video, I've found it really helpful..I've noticed the ram usage it's always under 24GB almost every time with exeption of the NO EYE TRACKING scenario where (with the F16) you reach about 31Gb usage.. I actuaully have 32gb DDR5 6000Hz corsair, would U consider useless an upgrade to 64 for me considering that I'm thinking bout getting a Crystal in the near future?? PS my system is I7 13700KF + 4090
    THANKS! :)

    Thanks for the Video, enjoy your new rig!
    The problem is not the FPS though, with DLSS it's nearly impossible to spot or identify enemy aircraft in time. With MSAA in VR , everything is shimmering, it is disgusting to look at it, especially to the object in mid range.
    I use DLAA which is something in the middle, still problematic to see ground targets etc. I'm just wondering if it is related to Quest3 and if it is better in Pimax?
    I have 58003xd with 4080s.

    How do you see the fps and gpu and cpu stats in fly with vr?

  • @longbowdt
    @longbowdt 2 месяца назад +1

    Thank you for this informative video. Your PC spec is one I've been interested in. I'll probably wait for the 5xxx GPU to hit the market.
    Currently I'm using an older system, starring the 3080Ti, and a 10850k. Also, the HP Reverb G2. This setup benefitted from setting the WMR to 60Hz. And OpenXr toolkit. And the necessary adjustments to maintain a smooth 30 fps low over London, and Paris. The operative word is "smooth". Any fps lower than that introduces stutters. OP, at what fps do you see stutters on your system?

    • @laubox
      @laubox  2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for your comment! It's hard to say to what extent I notice stutters. Even when playing at 120Hz, a drop to 110Hz can cause stuttering. The best approach is to always match the refresh rate. Eye tracking, however, is revolutionary-even with my older 3080 Ti and i9 9900k, it provided a significant performance boost. Eye tracking is the future of VR performance, although I believe a 5090 could run DCS without it. However, in that case, aiming for 120 FPS with maximum frames would still benefit from eye tracking. If your current performance is acceptable, I think it would be wise to wait and save for the 5xxx series.

      @@laubox I've tried foveated rendering, which DCS supports, but the pixelation at the edges of my viewing are distracting. Maybe that's due to the Reverb's rather narrow sweet spot. I'm not sure.

  • @RTSchramm
    @RTSchramm 2 месяца назад

    You should have included all the other Virtual Desktop settings as besides just using the Godlike setting as these other settings have a significant impact on the performance too. The issue I had with Quest 3 using virtual desktop is it adds three or more seconds of latency in multiplayer which is not good. When using the Meta link cable, you cannot use external battery packs which limits your game play to about an hour.

  • @bilbo_skywalker

    in your experience, is eye tracking with dynamic foveated resolution must-have? reason I'm asking, pimax crystal light that's coming out doesn't have eye tracking, hence it only can support static foveated resolution (in the middle of view), meaning you have to turn your neck to look at something clearly

    • @Keldor314
      @Keldor314 2 месяца назад

      I mean, eye tracking is very nice to have, but the peripheral areas are still going to be at a resolution comparable to first generation VR, so it's not like they're useless (Actually, due to the way DCS renders distant objects, spotting is easier in the low resolution areas). You just won't be able to easily read the instruments when they're not in the focus area. And we naturally turn our heads toward what we're looking at anyway.
      The biggest shortcoming will be when you're looking over your shoulder toward your 6. This is actually troublesome with proper eye tracking too, since this is where you'll find that you're also turning your eyes and want more field of view in general.
      DCS does tend to have some artifacting around the border of the foveated region due to how certain screen space shaders are implemented. This happens with the glare effect from the sun and moon, and with screen space shadows in particular. Basically, the shading doesn't quite match, so you see a faint "outline" of the foveated region under some conditions. I have no idea whether this is more distracting in fixed foveated mode, or in eye tracking mode, where the foveated region moves around with your eyes. In either case, it's not really that disruptive, and if they ever implement a bit of a cross fade, it'll be almost completely invisible.
      Incidentally, it looks like the eye-tracking capture in the video only captured the peripheral region, so it's a representation of what the low resolution area outside of the center of view would look like. Slightly blurry, but not horrible, and the area your head is pointing toward will be much sharper.

The OpenXR Toolkit Overlay is better than nothing but it lacks a lot of info I would like to see.

    If you look at the sea, the framerate is constantly at top limit.
    If you look at the carrier and a fucking ton of moving objects... it drops... Well, that's an interesting fact. Didn't expect that.
    Don't test on Caucasus with a low fid plane.
    Test on South Atlantic north of Ushuala... If you have solid frames there, you have them everywhere.
    Or you adapt your settings on every map before you start...
