Tried this and fractured my ass bone and the board shot out from under me with the speed of a thousand Cheetahs.......I'll be back in a month and a half:(
Man Omar your one of the greatest of greats and still doing it. I’m 51 got back into it after 15 years. Finally got a 3rd knee surgery and Im not going balls out but I’m having so much fun. They didn’t have all these beautifuly manicured skate parks when I was a teenager. I grew up skating with whatever was natural or whatever I built ! Jump ramps were my favorite! ( Kickers ) I miss putting garbage cans up in front of a kicker and Ollie over them with maybe a little tail grab 1 ft at at the apex of my Ollie. Felt sooo good. I always loved transitions but LONG ISLAND NY was not giving us anything back then. All the money went to fight crack ,HIV and gang wars. I miss those days because I feel like you understand us out in California specially, the guys that lost pipeline up land and all those great places I never got to skate..so into the street we went ! With guys like Omar leading the charge. Young guys today have no idea how much people like Omar Hassan changed skating . if you are young, look up your Skate history these guys are still around and some of them are still getting at it like Omar ! I’m 51 and I skate. Although with a pad or two more. lol. But I’m out there in the bowls in ATLANTA ! Peace n Love to all my skate brothers and sisters .
Finding this video 7 years late but right on time. I learned how to roll in frontside about 7 years ago but never backside. Then I took a 6 year hiatus from skating. Slowly trying to get it all back now. My knees hate me. Thanks for the sick tutorial Mr. Hassan. Always loved watching you skate.
Most of the roll-in slams that I've seen come from going too slow or leaning over the front to look into the bowl too much, with no speed. If you push slow and stop at the lip while leaning forward, I guarantee you are seconds away from a trip to the ER. This is a very hard slam (I know from doing it many times) it sucks. So pay attention to what he is saying, it's right on.
But I do it kinda weird and sketchy, I go sorta slow and allow the board between the trucks to hit the coping then because im leaning so far forwards my back trucks just ride over the coping
I actually only like to do straight roll ins or "acid drops". To me they're the easiest. For me, it's literally the same as rolling off a curb, just with transition.
Recently I've faced my fear and did plenty of roll-ins in a small bowl, I would say around 200. Then one time I hung up with the back truck once, since then I've never done it again lol
Thanks I have work on my back foot placement, using the ball of my foot, dang, when I was 12 I had my flow on.Now I'm having to rewrite my self, thanks,a drop is a killer way to get speed going into a bowl, but I forgot u can't beat the roll in because well your already moving, dah, thanks this old skater is learning all over again, half the stuff I already used to be able to do with out any trouble, now I'm thank full u guys have the basic demos....because at 54 I don't think I would try some of the things that I don't have wired....cool piece out.
I'm 62 and I'm glad to hear there is another peer that's not giving in. I said fuck it and put in half pipes here on my land in so. Mexico. I'm padded up and skating solo, surfing most every morning. I'm glad you're not broken. Keep it up.
I’m years late but for anyone wondering which one you should learn first just go for it I suggest starting with a kicker and learning to roll in on that first. I started with acid drops and I will admit they are scarier but that’s how I learned. If you’re having difficulty learning those, just practice some fakie rocks so when you come back in regular it feels normal. Then if the coping is right you can roll in slowly like a transition from a fakie rock and just lift the back truck up a bit so you don’t clip. Eventually you’ll get more speed and it’ll feel natural
i learned my backside roll-ins by rolling up and doing a switch rock to fakie with no speed then learned the actual rol lin (this helps on medium sized ramps) and i learned frontside rollin ins from skating volcanoes and hip transfers.
I used to roll in all the time when I was skating in my 20s now just thinking about it, im like ..... how the hell did i do like it was no big deal...haha
it's cool to see an actual "acid drop" in a video, everyone always think a cave man is an acid drop. I never learned roll in, only acid drop, but we incorrectly called acid dropping rolling in.
Start with a rounded top to get motion first as there's less chance of hanging up, just go straight in as there's less chance of slipping out. Then try it on a 3'-4' first and work your way up. Lastly, it's better to fall forward and tumble then backwards and crack your head
you are missing a lot. Frontside is when the obstacle is in front of you, while backside is when the obstacle behind you. Like a ledge or in this case, the transition/coping. When you roll in your obstacle is the coping/ transition.
That was what he was saying... think of it like this, if you were turning the same way coming out of the ramp, which way would be facing outwards from the ramp. So say if youre turning so your chest goes in front of you, that will be frontside, but youre turning INTO the bowl so its behind you. Weird, i know
I also thinks it's weird to call it backside when your frontside is turned in the direction of the obstacle. I mean it's the same with fs 50-50s or boardslides, why would it be different on a roll-in then?
Front-side roll in especially - scary as Hell. Must have 100% commitment, and either you measure it exactly right and make it, or you slam and injure yourself seriously. I think Omar is kind of setting a bad example as instructor by not using protective gear (could at least have a helmet!).
Omar’s the freakin real Iron man. What a legend of skating. Cheers Omar Atlanta area !
You have to have all your bros yelling "ROLL INNN!!"
Truth
Is there a how to get more confidence video?
Skate more, do more things when cruising.
Justin Knight Thanks Hommie, I was being sarcastic.
Omar Hassan Rules!
Start small then work your way up....
Just got for it fuck it. Lol
6pac do the job !
Tried this and fractured my ass bone and the board shot out from under me with the speed of a thousand Cheetahs.......I'll be back in a month and a half:(
Poor guy
chloe Mckee maybe he’s rich
Fractured your ass bone lol
Same except I didn’t get injured cuz I’m mr strong bones
Hey, did u ever rolled in after that??
Man Omar your one of the greatest of greats and still doing it.

I love how he showed a demo on the acid drop, tail drop and the roll in but didnt show the ollie in
How about the viking suit
An Ollie in is not a roll in , it's an Ollie lol
My buddy Josh Viles in the Nashville Area can Ollie in like nobody I’ve ever watched before. It’s kinda insane.
@@edwallace3704 but you can Ollie in to a transition

weird, for me I try and lean super far forwards
But I do it kinda weird and sketchy, I go sorta slow and allow the board between the trucks to hit the coping then because im leaning so far forwards my back trucks just ride over the coping
Yeah lol I know its weird, its similar to a rock and roll if you get me
@@cedriclucas3294 it’s basically the same as rolling off a curb, but scarier the first few times. Once you do it regularly it’s fine.
I actually only like to do straight roll ins or "acid drops". To me they're the easiest. For me, it's literally the same as rolling off a curb, just with transition.
I remember meeting your dad at his market in Irvine. Dropping in is a major skill few can ever acheive
I find frontside roll-ins the easiest, backside is slightly scarier for me
do u skate goofy? cause for r it's the same
I skate regs and struggle backside but got frontside down i lock up backside maybe im jus a psusy
So going to try that when it stops raining here. Thanks for the simple and easy explanation Omar...now I hope may roll in goes as smooth. :)
Recently I've faced my fear and did plenty of roll-ins in a small bowl, I would say around 200. Then one time I hung up with the back truck once, since then I've never done it again lol
He makes it look so easy...
The feeling you get is like a backside slash grind. If you can do a backside slash grind then you can do a roll in.

Omar and Cardiel are my favorite skaters of all time 💀🤙🔥

I did this but i hit my head hard
Nice
@@cactus_john3961 😂
this was awesome that guy is such a good teacher
Very good explanations! Omar rocks!
i learned my backside roll-ins by rolling up and doing a switch rock to fakie with no speed then learned the actual rol lin (this helps on medium sized ramps) and i learned frontside rollin ins from skating volcanoes and hip transfers.
The editing behind these vids are so dated but Omar is genuinely good at conveying instruction.
I love dated yt vids ha ha! gonna go watch Yacht Rock
Thanks alot I'm intrigued
I used to roll in all the time when I was skating in my 20s now just thinking about it, im like ..... how the hell did i do like it was no big deal...haha

If only it were that easy.
not hard at all

Well taught!
Thanks Omar !
i learned the frontside roll in first....scary lol
Thanks Omar I got my acid drop and backside roll in frontside is coming soon 👌💯
I did fs few years ago still love skating bowls
Rolling in to bowls/pools is super sketchy for me because it's a lot steeper than regular ramps, is just really scary man like fuck
I personally prefer all my tricks and runups frontside lol, backside just feels scary
Last year I was skating and my back truck got locked and I feel and fractured my wrist, I’m kinda anxious to try it again.
you have to solid manual in and you ll never lock again
sbatty wear pads, they help a ton
Rob Durant like a period pad for my psusy?
would you suggest practising on 2 to 3 foot transitions first?
i find vert easier tbh
@Shane Shane wtf are you on about
how do I switch roll in
Learning it on a mini ramp first would be my best bet
Acid drop with an early grab is the easiest one, melon grab and do just a little jump
If u like bowls like that, go to grove city skate park in ohio
I learned roll ins before drop ins
Helps to be Omar Hassan first! 😲
I tried to roll in and broke my wrist.
Great vid. Omar you are awesome!
You would think the backside roll in would be the roll in which you have your back turned to it? Not the first one. Am I missing something?
you are missing a lot. Frontside is when the obstacle is in front of you, while backside is when the obstacle behind you. Like a ledge or in this case, the transition/coping. When you roll in your obstacle is the coping/ transition.

First time i tried to roll in, i freaked out and pressed down too fast. I ended up catching the coping and flying in
Who filmed this? Show the ramp!
i fractured my elbow trying this
I skate regular not goofy. am I rolling in in frontside or backside
Oddly, i started frontside, next acid drop...and then backside. Backside is the hairiest to me still.
I ate absolute asphalt trying to acid drop and practiced beforehand.
I think the acid drop is less scary... at least for me it feels better
I like to know how big are those wheels..they look small..
And wouldn't it be different with a metal edge..?
BTW The park walls look total STEEP !!
How does it feel rolling I over metal not concrete
i knew he wasnt gonna ollie in
i learned front side roll in first and it seems easier
Hyvät Linjat.
Goood bro
More difficult than I've thought
Idk why these are so scary for me to learn 😂
So damn scary!
More style the rollin than drop ins.
All this time I thought BS was FS and FS is BS
Is one of the secrets to these acrobatics, to have no truck pads and use small wheels, to have as low a board as possible?
Nah you usually want big wheels for stuff like this. Like 54mm and up
i thought the frontside was backside because the fact that you cant see where you going like backside 180
backside roll in still scary as hell
ok i got it now isn't scary anymore
I live right next to West Linn. xD
This is quite good. However he needs to tell people what they need to be able to do on a board before they try this..!
i did this and my truck got stuck so I fell forwards and broke my shoulder
Same
I always get stuck too
Yeah I've clipped and hit my head pretty hard doing the backside one
commit, just keep your weight centred in the middle of the board
Henry Angell ifkr
i can frontside roll in but always lock up back side n do a mini disaster and get a mini heart attack aswell
It’s called drop in
it's called roll in
What's that dude doing at 2:23
my back truck got stuck and i ate it 😪
I keep busting my ass lol
The fuck is a tail drop 😂
for me front side is the easiest and the first I learnt. then acid drops and backside last. backside still freaks me out a bit
yea youre probbaly more likely to hang up on bs lol
Starting at about 1:15 that little kid in the black shirt in the background right sort of. Yea I wanna know if he fucking dropped in lmao
It's not even big, he probably did
I only know how to acid drop
Why does this video not show how many views it got lol weird shit
I did this, got too much speed and fucked myself up!
If you get so much speed before rolling in, you'll get more speed in the bowl
Backside roll in isn't easy
Can you do this on a penny board?
You dont want that
+The UnderBrony I know lots of people that can do this on a penny
+ayylmao like who?
+Ninjabroman9
Like anybody with a good sense of balance and some balls
It's not like they are made of glass, I have done it
ZIGMAN775 whoa

LOL Tail drop bro? It's called a drop in . . .
It's another name for it
Keith K. Omar has been in the pro game for 25+ years he knows what it's called
Omar is one of the OG'S BEST IN THE BUSINESS!! sounds like you have a lot to learn.
They started off as "ELEVATOR" drops....started by MITCH KAUFMANN at KONA SKATEPARK IN 1977
/watch?v=kK88g_KFRXo Thanks Hassan :p jkjk
lies when he tells us backside that's frontside cause you can see it in your frond and back is when your back is facing it
Wrong you imbecile
