    I appreciate your vids like this, because when I run into reefer calls at school, I like to have an insight on your troubleshooting skills. I know your pimpin' out the DL429, and when asked, I tell folks for $200, she's the best piece out there!

    Ice on a freezer evap always turns into a big job , especially when the drain blocks up ..... Would be cool to watch you do an oil change on a compressor one day ☺

    • @NorCal-refrigeration
      @NorCal-refrigeration  8 лет назад +2

      Go to heavy diesel channel lots of oil changes there. Good stuff

    I've been ignoring an ice buildup on the floor of of a large WI freezer at the track, but its starting to resemble an ice skating rink in there. Copper drain line split somewhere...time to get the coat and gloves, there is a LOT of product in there!

    Hi Dave.first i must say that i started watching your videos about six months ago in ac class... three months later i got my first job in refrigeration.. and today i had a drain line heater kick my ass during a service call. Keep putting out videos. You are inspiring a whole new wave of techs!
    Quick question though, map gas wont damage any of the housing for the evap coil or the coil itself? Seems WAY more productive than using a pump sprayer filled with hot water

    • @NorCal-refrigeration
      @NorCal-refrigeration  5 лет назад +1

      Refrigeration Technology you have to be real careful using map gas it will melt everything and you need good ventilation too. Be careful 👍

      Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C in other words ill just stick to my hot water pump. Not trying to be in hot water with the boss. Respect for the reply

    One thing I've seen in the past, is to make a metal tab (usually from aluminum sheet metal or a strip of copper) that wraps around the drain pan heater and sticks down into the drain nipple to transfer the heat from the drain pan heater into the pan nipple to keep it clear.

    Hey Dave any tricks for like when you are replacing a txv or old compressor to get out any trapped Freon on out so you don’t the killer gas ? I did purge with nitrogen and did a vacuum what’s the best way thx

    My experience is that cable ties, especially the white ones, tend to stiffen up and crack after a few years. You might have been better off using some copper wire to hold it up. However, done is done, and that should certianly last a few years.

    That crappy drain freezing up was more likely due to air being sucked in through the open connection than from heat transfer.
    Also, that Dunham-Bush ECLS-65 evap was designed as a draw-through coil, not a blow-through. I'll bet dollars to donuts the installer screwed up and had to change the fan blade.

      Yep. The whole box was used and the panels are shot. It's on the slate for replacement next June

    What kind of ohms are you looking for on that drain pan heater?

    .9Amps seems a little to low to me. That is around 200watts. Nice vid.

    • @NorCal-refrigeration
      @NorCal-refrigeration  8 лет назад +1

      It's in line with total amps when combined with the other heater in the coil. Total amps 7.5. I'm around 8. The heater could be weak it's old as the hills.
