  • Here are seven traits of a dark empath, the most dangerous personality type. Can you be an empathic psychopath? Do compassionate narcissists exist? According to studies, some people may have certain Psychopathic, Machiavellian, or Narcissistic traits who also exhibit dark empathy. So, yes, it is possible to possess a blend of empathic traits and dark triad traits. Dark empaths certainly exist and may account for as much as one-fifth of the general population - however, additional research on a broader scale is needed before such conclusions can be drawn.
This personality type describes people who appear cold but are also kind and compassionate. However, these individuals experience what’s called cognitive empathy. Meaning, while they can understand someone's emotional state very well, instead of bonding with them as ordinary empaths do, they usually exploit it. Basically, emotional manipulation comes naturally to these folks. And that spells trouble!
A dark empath can even be more dangerous than a typical dark triad type, because the dark empath may pull you in closer and inflict more harm as a result. Of course, this doesn’t mean that every dark empath will harm others emotionally - but they can.

We're not narcissistic. The video was wrong about that. We tend to not like the spotlight, we don't wanna be the top guy but we have to be relevant. Neutral you might say. Narcissism and pride aren't really on the list. Empath's deal and dwell with emotions we just study them even if it means hurting people. Sometimes we tend to hurt people and manipulate people emotionally just to make them realize certain things they should change about themselves, we're not selfish. Its like having nukes (people's problems and emotional trauma's) for safe keeping just in case we need to use them to destroy them of just uplift them and help them. We only involve ourselves in people's problems in pursuit of understanding or feeling's of empathy. But the downside is the empathy doesn't last long. I remember one time my ex girlfriend cried over me saving her from suicide because her dad killed himself and she started crying in public Infront of me and I felt absolutely nothing. Instead I had to hug her which is not my strong suit. Public affection and spotlighting isn't what we like. Everyone around who saw I was caring for her was like "aww he's such a good guy" but deep down I was like couldn't this chick wait for some other time to cry. We find weakness in public affection especially around people we that we manipulate or that know us. We are secretive we don't like the spotlight because having the spotlight mean's people knowing you're next move. Empaths are spotlight people not dark empath's. The less of ourselves we show the more advantage we have on the field.

@@i_am_glitch307 I understand people's emotions perfectly. When I was a regular empath, it was easy for people to pull my strings using emotional energy because I slowed myself to be vulnerable for the sake of allowing other people to be vulnerable around me and not be judged. Though many years of trauma and false incarceration and narcissistic relationships, abuse, etc, I remained able to understand other people's emotions and care about them, however I only care so long as I care about those people now and because I understand emotions to such a heightened degree amd have peeked interest into the psychology of human beings, both my own and that of other people, I'm a narcissists worst nightmare because I chew their ego and spit it out whilst remaining perfectly open and vulnerable and perfectly content with myself. So I continue to allow myself to be open and it's like mosquitos to the bug zapper and I take pleasure out of decimating abusive people and out of defending their victims from them. I mourn the person I used to be and I don't wish it upon any good hearted person, but there is no me anymore, at least not in the same way.

You can be a dark Empath and use your powers for good. It’s all about balance. It’s not necessarily a bad thing if you “know thyself” and work to better yourself on an emotional level. My dark traits only come out when they are needed, and I know they are present in my personality. I know how to keep them in check. For example; just because someone is a master at hand to hand combat doesn’t mean they are going to go around beating random people up. I love people and want the best for all and don’t enjoy manipulating. It’s a tool for good when dealing with truly selfish, problematic and evil people.

Dark empathy feels like a constant battle with one’s self. The empathic side wants to be nice and kind and feel for people. But the other side wants to use the information for personal gain. I tried it hardcore only once and it scared the shit out of me how easy it was. I won’t lie it comes to surface every once in awhile (not majorly) and it helps with certain situations. But I try to use the dark side for good whenever I can. I remember a horrible co worker who was hurting people and it pissed me off. So I used my skills to get close find out information all as I smiled and seemed to be on there side until the time came where I got all the info I needed and told my boss how he was treating people and what he secretly thought. It can be used for good but you have to be extremely careful with it.

My mother was a Grade A Narcissist, with a PhD in the Dr. Jeckel and Mr. Hyde syndrome, and as a child, I learned her traits, BUT I am an Empath with a Dark Side, for sure. When I need a particular job done, I call it being "user friendly", like the old techie term. I have Demons, whom I have just learned how to cage in the last 10 years. I'm in my 40's and also having PTSD, CPTSD, OCD, ADHD, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, etc., caging those Demons was like trying to be my own magician! Being the brunt of my mother's evil doings as a Narcissist, did teach me Quite a lot and the Dark Side I HAVE to keep in check. It is exhausting, to say the least. IF I Ever engage my "user friendly" tactics, and get my way, I DO flip it and express my gratitude genuinely. It calls for persistence and knowing HOW to grab the other person by the "feels" just at the right moment. Hook, line, sinker. I am then genuinely grateful and show it without going overboard. Sometimes, if it is an act of Great kindness from the Other person, my gratitude overflows, and I Will start crying and hug them, repeating "Thank you!" We are superiorly complex people. Great to have in your corner, just Don't piss us off.....and we will be there, probably forever.... 🤗🤗❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥💕💕

You call it dark empathy, I call it a survival trait. I had a few in my life growing up that made sure I had a conscience and in that I've always tried to be a good person but I also use it as a defense. It bothers people and I can see it in their facial expressions, body movements and how the verbally react when I read them and know what theyre thinking or going to say or do before they do either. When it comes to using it as a means of getting ahead in life, i've always been aware that I could but dont do it as it would normally result in someone elses loss and generally end up hurting myself in some way by not doing so. You call it the worst personality but honestly you just have only met those like my cousin that use it for bad things and are not good people, some of us are actually really good people. I generally try to stay neutral in life, not effecting others choices as it would change the outcome of the result of the choice they have made. That being said, I only write this so you know that there are some of us that are really good people and then there are those that are the complete opposite of us. Dont judge us before you get to know us. Also, I have no friends as it seems they always feel like i'm up to something because I have an understanding of things most would find wickedly crazy and im quiet and helpful and like to see others happy, successful and in a good place in life where as I tend to not care about mine because im aware of things like for example as stated above where as my cousin and people like them have lots of friends, are very likeable and people tend to crowd around them, until that 5 seconds where they use what they have and that person gets hurt or screwed as you might say. When I see everyone flocking around a person like that or see people going in one direction, I make a point to avoid and go in the opposite direction. Hope this helps with your research ✌

From what I'm reading, you're describing yourself as someone who's selfless, yet still take your time for a quick judgment. Overall, you're a very intuitive person who prefers not being the center of attention, but simply watch quietly in the sidelines. This behavior marks you as an introvert.
Still, the fact you're able to read others carefully, yet efficiently like this, is something that you take advantage of in certain situations. You also describe yourself as someone who, when you're trying to take advantage of something for your favor, make sure you're not affecting the person in a harmful way in most of the time (which might ultimately affect yourself too). With this, I can clarify that you're simply an empath. Not all empaths are completely selfless, some care about themselves enough to not get pushed around by people. Unless, of course, you're leaving out some other details about yourself. A true manipulator never fully reveals their true nature.

In a quest to understand myself. A lot of this makes sense to me when reflexing on my experience. The Military enhanced my ability to bring out a darker side of me for sure. After war I was able to objectify very easy. Switching from light to dark in a split second knowing or unknowing. The Military calls it going numb and labels it as PTSD. I disagree. I feel like it was from childhood trauma and learning to cope with my environment to feel safe in an unstable home. I just didn't have full access to switching it off or on until I was in war. Which ultimately made me a perfect soldier from a military perspective. However, my dark side started to rule my life choices and left a devastating wake of relationship turmoil. Im now homeless with a better sense of who I want to be from Jesus. I'm hoping to learn to control the dark side so that it can be used for the betterment of others. Since thier are qualities that are worth keeping. I hope this helps someone.

It all comes down to processing i believe. Everything that caused a trauma in your past feeds the Dark side of you.
Childhood trauma creates a very Dark side. Most likely you never had the tools to process them properly. We develop fear based emotional reactions from unprocessed traumatic experiences.
one must process it correctly then put it on the shelf. When that memory is revisited it won't have the same emotional reaction attached to it because it's been dealt with.
The Military put you in a position/situations where your dark side could take control and thrive. In war you need to become a demon to fight a demon. Coming back from that wouldn't be easy.
When we entertain the dark too much it we spend less time in the light. That means we start problem solving more with one then the other. Both have polar opposite vibrational frequencies which determine what we attract in life.
Master and process your pain and then you can help others process theirs.

It is. This is clickbait drivel pseudo-psychology targeting the gullible and adolescent. It's a big market, apparently.
What is described here is Narcissistic Personality Disorder - except that bit about working successfully in a group dynamic, that never happens. That only appears during the initial manipulation phase, they only "work together" as an act long enough to fool you to get themselves in.
NPD's don't "feel" others' emotions, but they recognize them. This is not empathy, not at all. It's more like a predator that can "smell" fear in their prey. They see others' emotions just like they see a doorknob, simply a thing to twist and turn in order to get to where they want to go, nothing more.

I have friends who have called me an Angel, because I love helping people. I explain to them that I was raised by a narcissist and learned them well. I have a high level of empathy for people and animals…. Even aggressive ones curl up to me like puppies, but having been raised by a narcissist I know how to manipulate on a level that even narcissist become afraid of. Their games are child’s play compared to what I have become capable of but choose not to do. It scares the hell out of me sometimes and I’ll not intentionally hurt a person unless it is absolutely necessary. I am an introvert, not an extrovert. When it comes to my friends I stand between them and the people who would hurt them.
My ex wife’s father was a narcissist, he threatened to shoot me once. I smiled at him and asked him he had ever danced with the devil. He told me no. I continued to smile and told him now would be a bad time to try. Years later before he passed he thanked me for waking him up because towards the end he actively tried to make amends for the things he had done knowing that it wouldn’t work. My ex wife had become strong and confident. It was at that point I knew my ex didn’t need me to protect her anymore, so I filed for divorce and helped her through a few other thing while she started down her path. She and I are still good friends and she asks me to help some of her friends she has made since the divorce but that struggle has taken a lot out of me and I just want to be left alone now.

From my experience, everyone has the potential to have a dark side, especially when kindness and basic levels of care are lacking in a persons life. But specifically for Empaths, it is typically those stuck in a state of immaturity and unhealed wounds that may behave in such a way. Similar analogy, they are kind of like a wolf with their leg caught in a bear trap. Although it may be a sad thing to see, if you get to close, attempting to help, they will likely bite, most probably because of pain, misunderstanding, or fear, possibly not even meaning to hurt anyone. Of course, there may be other factors as well. I highly recommend that especially Empaths need to take care of themselves physically/nutritionally/hormonally. In my opinion, this should be a starting point when healing, the foundation to build upon, because when your body is out of alignment, there may be uncontrollable events, mood swings, even misunderstandings, etc.

It just depends on what your intentions are. I certainly know how to hurt people but I just want the people around me to grow and flourish. When I have very negative emotions I tend to just block any of that from affecting others. When I’m really struggling I might make wrong choices sometimes. I always apologise afterwards and try to correct myself afterwards though. I guess there should be a big distinction between a good person in a difficult place and a fundamentally bad person.

The actions, or should I say reactions are dead on. Absolutely truthful. But it’s the motives you have wrong for many of us. I’m sure there are many dark empaths who manipulate for selfish reasons. Many of us manipulate people using what we see in them to give them the ability and confidence to serve Their needs, not our own. When it is for personal gain it’s due to trauma and a lack of examples of how to get what we need emotionally. After all we are drawn to Narcissists as they are the most deeply damaged. How could we not pick up a few tendencies along the way to protect ourselves with?

A dark empath's first mode of interaction isn't to hurt someone, it's a reaction to hurt. We manipulate, but not necessarily lie. A narcissist's main goal is to lie, cheat and steal from you and that was their actual objective all along. A narc will not feel any remorse for destroying someone as it was their intention. The dark empath does not want to destroy anyone but will if the person is evil and truly deserves it.

Now I understand why it's so easy for me to manipulate people relative to a Sociopath! A Sociopath has low regular empath and high cognitive empathy. Because I have abnormally high regular empathy and also abnormally high cognitive empathy, I get real time feedback on whether or not my manipulation is working, or not. The downside is that if I hurt someone's feelings, I also hurt my own feelings.
I like to manipulate people into being happy and productive. I encourage them to develop relationships with the people in their life that actually have their best interests in mind. I encourage them to develop their skills and talents. My favorite thing to do is to guide them through the process of reprocessing childhood trauma and being freed from that sort of curse. It makes me feel superior, and they end up being grateful to me indefinitely.
One of my favorite things to do is give emergency physical and psychological diagnosis and Cognitive Behavior Therapy the homeless people I encounter. I treat them as if they were a normal human being, and give them validation that is legitimate, and derived from the things about themselves that they reveal to me. I feed them and give them clothing. I'll let them stay in my hotel room and we will watch movies together and don't kick him out after wards. They go off feeling confident and energized. It's SUCH a power trip, I highly recommend everyone do this 🤕🤗💞

The most important thing to watch for is the dark aspect, darkness comes from being completely self oriented because only those who care only about themselves can commit crimes without guilt or remorse. I would suggest keeping away from anyone dark. However just because someone is egocentric doesn’t mean that they can’t be charming, empathetic or extremely talented. We are all a mixed bag.

I am definitely a dark empath, and obviously we can't sum up a whole person with a label, but the dark empath to me is a tool I can use when I need it. Allow me to explain.
I have borderline personality disorder, and I had a really hard time connecting with people growing up. Very distant emotionally from my parents (verbal abuse from a young age), so naturally I search for "negative" emotions in the other person, so I can read it immediately and avoid it. I am (to a degree) a people pleaser. I have a persona for everyone. Even crazier, I've just become more conscious of it over the past few years. I'm only 22, but still, it's crazy to realize you're always being someone you're not.
I am as much myself as I can be these days. However, I will notice my mind subconsciously preparing to manipulate someone if I want something, specifically with addiction. I stay away (for the most part) from the hardcore drugs, but like if someone has nicotine, I'll see them, hang with them, talk with them, listen to them, all that just for a nic buzz. I always feel and about it, and try to make them feel better because I can see them questioning if I really like them or if I'm just using their nicotine. And I really believe all humans deserve a basic respect, a respect that they are them and have a totally different experience and perception totally unique to them that I couldn't possibly fully understand. However, when I hit withdrawals, survival instinct kicks in.
I've realized lying to people and chasing things like power and money and sex is all pointless. There's no need to lie. I'm gonna die one day, so is everyone who's seeing this comment, everyone who ever will exist. So why lie when this is temporary? What am I trying to secure? Am I trying to win the game in my head against myself, for pride because I feel that's all I have left? That's an empty fucking existence man. That's no way to live. Be you fully, and use these personality traits for manipulation ONLY when you have to.
Only time I've used it recently was to flame this kid who was taking pictures of me and my friends in the dorms when we would drink or hit our weed pen and was basically a fed for our dorms, and this kid lied about everything, and I told him he should be a photographer... Since he loved taking me and my friends pictures all the time. And watching that smile get wiped off his face made me happy. I called him out in front of like 15 people, and that might sound shitty, but when you think someone is your friend but they've been secretly taking pictures of you and your friends and getting your friends kicked out of college for normal college shit... You might have been angry too. And I do feel bad sometimes, because again, he's a human being. But I wanted him to know he wasn't slick, he's not hot shit and everyone is onto him. I think that's the only time in recent years I can remember using emotional manipulation for bad.
Most people might say "there's no good intention behind manipulation", and I disagree. What do you think your therapist does when they see you're digging deeper into your thoughts? They will ask you another question and manipulate you down that path, they serve as a guide and often times they can't just say "oh you have this problem because of this, etc". Nobody would listen to them. They mastered or at least have gotten very good at the art of manipulation, and they use it for good.
Essentially, the point of this is that while people might have these traits, it doesn't mean they're going to hurt you. I overall think I'm a good person and believe all people are, but everyone is also a fucking monster, including myself. Everyone has dark traits. And I think we should explore them, understand them as much as we can, and integrate them into who we are. Again, they should be used as tools only when you need them or are in a tough situation. It's similar to martial arts that way. Otherwise, you should live an authentic and genuine life. I'm not perfect, and if this comment sounded dark I apologize, I think part of me wanted to be honest and another part of me wanted admiration/acceptance for these traits that aren't typically accepted or praised. Maybe that's juvenile but that's the honest truth.
Like Jordan Peterson says, "You can't be a good person without the capacity for your own darkness. Otherwise you're not the good person you think you are, youre just a coward"
Maybe that was a bit harsh, but there's so many people who act perfect and act like they'd never do anything bad. Everyone finds out about their darkness eventually, its just a matter of time🤷

I genuinely care about the person i choose to empathise with and ask the questions about the individual that nobody ever cares to ask. I help them unpack. But when that same person mistakes that empathy for weakness and moves to denote me or even hurt me. I take that very personally. Out of all the fake, boring people that one meets in their life why shit on a unique person who cared enough to feel your pain with you. At that point I know enough about that person to do some mental damage if i wanted.
There's a Darkness in me that I'm afraid to give control too, I know how dark my mind can go when i'm angry.
The narcissistic part of me will make sure they regret treating my like i was nothing. The empathic side knows exactly how to do that.
But instead i try keep to the light because I do want to be happy in life. There's a constant battle between the light and the dark. To make it worse i'm a gemini .

My ex is a dark empath. One of the biggest things I remember, and he still does this today is dark humor. He loves to see me in pain. I’ll never understand. He creates entire situations with dark humor to get a laugh at my hurt and expense. It has greatly affected me. He manipulates situations with my kids (his kids also btw) to make himself look like a saint. I’m so used to to being made to look bad that I just accept it. He lies, manipulates, and takes pleasure from any pain he cost me. Then likes to portray himself as the hero. I’m certain he’s the dangerous form of a dark empath.
I am emotionally drained. His nice can be very nice, but his bad is extremely bad, and always outweighs his good. He used me to get everything he needed in life, and I always wanted to just help him. His lies have cost me my reputation in a community I brought him into. He’s very convincing, and is a compulsive liar. I’m sure he’s the dangerous form of a dark empath.

My father had all the traits. I hated him! Myself and my brother were his targets. I went to Vietnam and acted like a person that lacked empathy and worse. When I returned home my father's traits became my traits and I didn't realize or understand why I became master's level liar. I became an expert at manipulation that resulted in benefit only to me. I weaseled my way thru an MS degree. I became very successful with employment and excelled in several administration positions. I even went into therapy and I ended up manipulating the therapist into thinking I was cured. I was not. Upon retirement I have been reflecting on my life and I found a life of former members of my teams I reduced to failures, a grossly failed marriage and family that my EX and our children hate me. My personal failures came to light when my younger sister told me I was the spitting image of my father. That shocked me. Now at the age of 68 I find myself thinking about the whys this happened. Sadly, I am stuck in a place I can't dig myself out of. I can't undo my past. That part of my life is permanent. Everyday I try and become better, but my past is so ingrained I can't think of living any other way. Without realizing it I most likely am still a Dark Empathetic Psychopath as I write this admission!

I don't think people get to "choose" when to be a dark empath... I never realized that this is who I am until now. I don't intentionally act this way, it doesn't even cross my mind that I am. But this sums up what I've always know myself to be. I'm not a "good guy" and I'm not a "bad guy". I have a talent of drawing people in and having them open up to me with just a smile. "people gravitate towards you." My old HR use to tell me. Do I care about what they're saying? Not really. Am I an a**hole about it? No. Do I love the power I feel walking into my job or school and everyone wanting to talk to me? Absolutely.

Who are you? How do you know me so well? What are your intentions and what do you want? Haha. Great video. Fair and accurate. I think as a younger child I behaved immaturely to a degree and showed tendencies and gained experience in the manipulative for selfish and exploitive behaviors, but the better side of me always felt a great sense of shame and shallowness that let me know this is not the way. That helping improve others and society broadly is. That said, when I see other bad intending individuals or groups praying on the weakest sheep like packs of wolves...they might likely describe me as someone to be viewed as dangerous...doubt anyone else ever would. And if so, please accept my apologies in advance and promise to improve if brought to my attention. And to those who think I am dangerous...at least you didn't make the mistake of others who underestimated me. Expect mistakes to be capitolised upon swiftly.

So a dark empath is a narcissist & an empath at the same time? I think that's what I am. I was starting to wonder if I was a narcissist except I'm truly compassionate for the underdog. I try to be considerate to others & I expect the same respect in return. It's when ppl start to disrespect me & try to play me for a fool that I'm told I'm as cold as ice. I don't try to make ppl cry. I actually think I'm still being very nice & considerate when I talk to them. I just tell ppl exactly how things are & they start crying. Their crying doesn't even affect me tho. I'll just look at them & ask why they're crying. Usually I tell them they're the ones who did me wrong & they don't have any reason to cry. I've been told that I don't have feelings, that I'm cold, & that I'm passive aggressive. I think dang it's a good thing I hold back because I didn't even think I was being mean. I think I always tell things in a nice way. On very few occasions I can get mean if ppl just can't get it. Bc I'm so nice, some ppl think I'm a pushover till I dish a smidge back then they go from thinking I can't hurt a fly to thinking I'm the meanest person in the world. I tend to be in leadership positions bc I don't like dictators that can't manage right. If they're good leaders, then I totally support them 100%. Ppl have tried to analyze me & can't. Probably bc I'm a dark empath. Last night I was just telling my kid that all these narcissistic guys keep trying to pursue me but they don't know I'm part narcissistic myself. I don't want to hurt their feelings but I'm really not what they think I am. I keep trying to distance myself but they won't leave me alone. I will eventually feel forced into hurting their feelings & will walk away feeling so relieved that I finally got away from them. I don't rejoice in seeing ppl hurt but I feel so good knowing that now they'll finally leave me alone. I just hate when ppl think they know what's best for me better than what I know. It literally makes me feel sick to my stomach. I enjoy talking to ppl but at the end of the day I really love to be left alone. It's hard for ppl to understand that. They think I'm lying. They think I want to snuggle at night with someone close. They say deep down I really want to fall in love. Um no.. if that were possible then maybe I would consider it. In the meantime I wish ppl would please leave me alone. And I don't want someone breathing hot air all over me. I dont like someone holding me so tight at night that I feel uncomfortable & can't move. When they do let me free then I don't want them tossing & turning & snoring or farting in my bed. It's gross & it wakes me up. Ppl think I'm joking but I'm truly trying to be honest.
