    I too was thinking "No, don't dip with navy...speckle with it, or spot place the color!" But the colorway did turn out very beautiful. Thank you for taking us through your creative process. 🌞

      I think what helped me was knowing I could create something similar to the blue/green/teal after step 2 again in the future. That helped me keep going.

      I’d go with a simple, repeating pattern like the Fresh Leaves Shawl by Christina Hadderingh (Ravelry). It’s written for a finer yarn but you can easily adapt it for this gorgeous, just-for-you DK yarn. For additional yarn, I’d pick up either the bright green or a slightly muted red/burgundy-ish hue.
      I’m so happy for you. These are my colors, too. I plan do sponsor a Dye Pot Weekly but have to talk to Rebecca about yarn choices since I’m allergic to wool.

    Uniqueness to the yarn, is the best descriptive for hand dyed fibers. This is definitely now one of my top 3. Thank you Rebecca. 🥰🧶🐪🦙🐐🐑🧶🥰

    I was just thinking I am amazed at your ability to make color and design changes while still being articulate and instructional, and at that moment at around 20. you said how hard it is to make the decisions. We are tuned in. I love the result so far and green and navy is a fave of mine so thanx.

    from Gerry- This is stunning. For Sarah, any color would look good but for myself I would add the navy/purple blue I see every now and then and perhaps some real navy. Let the lighter colors pop on their own without adding more. Enjoy! Blessings to you both.

      I found the answer - synthrapol is described as a fabric detergent helping to wash out excess dye. I thought this was the function of the vinegar or citric acid crystals added to the dye bath. Dharma Trading lists it as a detergent, Jacquard products describes it as a prewash and after wash... and as a wetting agent for fabric dyes.

    I know the yarn was amazing before the navy, but the final colorway is just SO complex! Sometimes navy can overpower the other colors, but in this case it really transformed them into something even more special than it was before. I really like your "dyeing 3x" videos with different resist techniques, the effects give such unique and amazing results.

    Thank you for your video. Amazing. I have been looking for videos on resist dyeing and yours actually goes through the process step by step. I have four dye samples to try and now I have a bit more confidence. Still do not understand how the ties keep the fiber from taking up more dye, but as long as it works, I’m okay with not understanding. I have some key lime green, bright hot pink, mountain aqua, and raven to try.

    • @ChemKnitsTutorials
      @ChemKnitsTutorials  2 года назад

      If the ties are tight enough then they prevent liquid from soaking into those sections. Good luck!

    Would this be how you might suggest to make an "oil slick" type of colorway, in which you want bright, pure colors contrasting with dark colors? My other thoughts would be to a. do a dark gray with these resists and then alginated dyes to make the rainbow bits or b. alginated dyes for all colors, then a gray overdye to unite the colors.
    Looking forward to your thoughts :)

    • @ChemKnitsTutorials
      @ChemKnitsTutorials  4 года назад +1

      I think that this could work great for an oil slick type look - Especially with varying the dark shades that you layer on top.
