    Given the tenor's great linguistic ability I would have been shocked had he sung this song in German as the titles to this clip suggest.

      I used to have a lot of LPs which included one by Gedda in which he sang this song. The words came with the disc. As I recall they were “Jeg elsker deg”. I always assumed it was in Norwegian since Greig was a Norwegian himself. It would have been illogical to use any of the other Scandinavian language. He did after all receive a salary from the Norwegian government to write music “for Norway”.
