Brings back amazing memories. I was a 17yr old italian kid from Socal stationed in Korea in the IS Army in 1984 living with the bruthas. They turned me on to Gogo sound, Mr Brown and Trouble Funk. Been a fan ever since. I'll never forget these guys going out getting custom made wind suits with "Happy Feet" on the back and long live DC. Almost bought one myself lol! Great stuff, can't sit down when listening to these gems.

Chuck and his group gave NPR Tiny Desk and the people who were in attendance that day, almost 30 minutes of pure hard work, brilliance, and go-go groove, while most of the performances on NPR rarely go beyond 15. Yes Chuck!
I remember when I moved from Cali to DC in 1994... this was the first GO-GO song I heard "Don't mean a thing! " (2nd was the water dance).... lost my mind!!! 2019 still in DC and still have not found my mind it's lost in GO-GO!
i can still hear him say ( WIND ME UP CHUCK ) and it brings a joyful tear to my eye to see that one of our most inevatable icons is not with us but he's in our hearts and minds and he will always and forever be loved WE MISS YOU AND LOVE YOU CHUCK !
Pharrell knew what he was doin when he sampled that for Nelly's "Hot In Here". Chuck Brown don't be gettin all his credit he deserved and still deserves tho.
There was NOTHING like seeing Chuck LIVE in concert. I saw him live at least 3 times a year for over 20 YEARS and everytime I saw it was better than the last.
Imagine feeling the need to give this video a thumbs down. Just imagine that for a sec. Glad I'm not feeling that bad. I dare anyone to sit still watching this.... anyone. RIP, Chuck!

Chuck cranked to his last days! He is the James Brown of GoGo, hardest working man that never gave a bad show. RIP Chuck, thanks for making a young teen's weekends special in DC back in the day. We cranked all night.
Amazing! Thanks Chuck & crew. What a voice and what a beat! And thanks NPR. I am a huge fan of both. I happened to live in DC for a few years in the 90's, but I knew Chuck Brown's music from many, many years prior. I was born in the south in the 60's and am one of the fortunate few from my generation and location that was blessed to live in both black and white communities. Go Go Chuck. You the man. Long live the Blues, Soul, Jazz, Funk, Go Go and Chuck Brown. I love you brother.
I'm from Georgia and Chuck you were loved here RIP to a musical genius and definitely on my Mount Rushmore! The father of a genre..not many can say that.

I still marvel at Chuck's stamina, drive, and flat-out kickass authority. I once Chuck perform a free show in NYC, in 2009. On an overcast, cool, rainy evening, he made us all dance up into a sweat. The man had chops and sly humor, with more power, more energy than most of those a quarter of his age. Chuck may belong to DC, but we understood him in my hometown too. Keep the Go-Go going with the heavenly choir, CJ.
