It was a shame that Channel 4 in the UK had presenters that couldn't stop talking during the original broadcast, then cutting away before the music finished. Many thanks for releasing this ! ❤❤
Exactly this!! Been a huge JMJ fan for many years and only found out about him performing for the 2024 Paralympics Closing Ceremony a couple of days before..
Was as exited as a little kid, and particularly wanted to see JMJ and the other French electronic music artists and DJs (No David Guetta) taking part...
Channel 4 made a big deal of the Closing Ceremony, but here in the UK we only saw the formal part, followed by JMJ's brilliant first 'mash-up' set and that was it! .The JMJ Facebook groups I'm in ,many posted pics from the finale when he played 'Time Machine' on his laser harp but it seemed like everywhere in the world was watching but the UK, because Channel 4 has swapped over to an in studio chat programme about the Paralympics called Last Leg...
I was absolutely gutted about this because this programme could have been aired after the full Closing Ceremony so I emailed Channel 4 to mention the disappointment of myself and so many other UK JMJ fans..
Their response was lukewarm to say the least, so thankyou so very much for sharing this, it means a lot!!❤❤
@aryastark634 At the time, you needed to have a bit of technical nous to watch the rest of the music show. We managed to get hold of a link with a dodgy feed to France TV2 just in time to see JMJ play the laser harp for Time Machine. Quite why Channel 4 didn't show the full repertoire and then go on to the Last Leg beggars belief. Had the Paralympics been some football tournament they wouldn't have dared to do what they did.
I believe it's kind a 'syndrome' of lots of channels when have a musical act. Here in Brazil happens the same, when we try to watch something and they simply don't stop to talk - and talk nonsense.
We've had quite a few British presenters who have gone really political in the last few years or so - always concentrating on people's struggles in life, particularly before competing in something like the Paralympics. Whilst it is interesting to hear what the athletes have to say and what they've achieved, surely we can have a break from that once in a while ? It can be disheartening.
@@felicemaggie I heard about that from another JMJ fan on one of his several fan Facebook pages..I'm not very tech minded, but this has been well worth the wait!

The cultural significance of JMJ doing the Paralympics shouldn't be underestimated, at the very least from a street cred point of view.

What I love the most is how verstile his discography is, he kept evolving and experimental instead of playing it safe. Oxygene is a fantastic album, but I'm glad he moved on to do other things instead of repeating himself.

Don’t worry, it’s mostly playback. Gone are the analog days of Equinoxe and Rendez-Vous. I love him to death, but he has become a dj of his own music.
@@doubleohdutch2108 A bit true, I guess...I sometimes have my doubts too when it comes to 'live playing'. Mistakes are not allowed! I remember the days of the circle keyboard (Houston, Paris 1990 and so on) with those huge lit keys... I love Jean Michel for always (was able to meet him in person, long way back), but I always was a bit sceptical...the only little minor issue 😀🎹🎧🎹

Back around 2006, I was in college and remember getting startled at a claw machine that played a bit of oxygen, part 4, when ever someone walked past it. At my dorm, we had a drama teacher who had a free copy of the album that was given with a newspaper. No joke, the art scared me, but now I want it on a t-shirt it's so metal. I feel like only Gen X millennials and maybe early gen z is into this music

I love jarre but he still mimes the Laser harp , I have one and they are unpredictable at best of times so i dont blame him, I would do the same at that event. The first notes he plays are genuine then notice that he is out of sync on a lot of the others.. But respect to Jarre, he is the amazing pioneer of music and has changed my life with his work.
But because the 'live' EP was accidentally released earlier in the day, it was obvious that even those first test notes were fake!

I prefer JMJ before year 2000.
Ups and downs.....many times brilliant after 2000...he's here, with us😊
He has moved with the times, some good some not so good but in that is some pure brilliance
He's not stuck in the past, he's constantly experimenting. For example, some shows were made using VR and AR, mainly due to the pandemic. And because it's always experimental, it's not always successful.
Because nostalgia blinds you. JMJ kept evolving anf changing since his first song, always reinventing himself according to technology, experimenting, taking risks, moving forward. Albums like Metamorphoses or Electronica are just as good as his earlier albums, but old boomers like some fans can't keep up with his innovative nature. He won't stop innovating to pander to your nostalgia. All you have now is hating on jim for being more creativr and up to date than any 76 year old.

I expressed my personal preference. Don't mix music taste with blindness caused by nostalgia. I admire his constant striving to evolve, improve himself. But the thing what really matters is final outcome, and that outcome I may like, or not. That applies to any other artist, any music genre or year. I really love a lot of modern music, especially from young artists full of good ideas.
