Can this cheap timer hardware be converted into a smart rotary control with built-in display?

  • These cheap rotary timers have loads of goodies built-in: rotary encoder, push switch, battery compartment, piezo sounder, LCD or OLED display, and plenty of room for your own circuit board.
This is an incredably cheap way of getting a quality enclosure.
The uses are only limited by your imagination - hack and use for anything that can be controlled by a rotary encoder and a push-switch. You can even build in your own LCD or OLED display.
This rotary-dial timer looks ideal for a wi-fi controller heating thermostat. It should have enough space inside for your most of you project electronics.
Uses for a rotary control and push switch?
    LIMITLESS !

There seems to be plenty of possibilities. Let me know if you hack it!

As I am unable to hack this device myself, I would love to see it being hacked with an OLED as thermostate! In the meantime my daughter is lucky to use it as a tooth brush timer. 😊

@@angelinamerkwuerdig9656 Using an OLED was an option I had considered, using the heating controller/thermostat I built, shown in an earlier video.
