The cx60 was launched june9 2023, and I got mine last august 2023. It had very few local reviews back then but I still bought the car for what it has and understood what it hasn’t. I didn’t buy it for the daily drive in the city traffic even if the reviews said that fuel consumption was better than the cx5 ( I didn’t believe it). The cx60 I think is best in long drives where you can appreciate the comfort, the fuel efficiency, the driving engagement and engine power. When I drive in the city I turn off the I-stop function to eliminate the transmission hesitancy and I don’t mind the difference in fuel consumption because it is not much difference whether I-stop is on or off in the city. What Caco said about transmission is true but what he failed to say is that when I-stop is off the transmission hesitancy is few and far in between (at least for my experience). The review of the ride quality is true but if you plan to buy this car it should be expected because the engine is powerful and I think it is unsafe to put very soft suspension on such a powerful inline 6 but I think it can be improved with smaller wheels may be 18s. As I have said, I bought mine because of what it has and understood what it has not ( no car is perfect anyway), I am very satisfied with my cx60. My advice for potential buyers is to look at it and test drive it with no prejudgment or bias because it is very easy to compare it to other luxury cars and previous Mazda models, the car is not for everyone but if you think it’s for you then go for it!

Had mine since October. The only thing I don’t like is the consistency of the driver id. It works only 60 percent of the time for me. Ride is a lot harsher than the SK forester which I also own which is really really plush, but you get used to it. Note that when I say harsh , you feel the road. That said, everything is dampened and muted. Some switches are plasticky but it’s not really a big deal. You eventually learn how to take off smoothly with the transmission which is can be jerky initially especially coming from a cvt. I do drive with the iStop feature turned off as it only saves a very very minor amount of fuel but a majority of jerkiness is eliminated right away. In any case, all is forgiven when you overtake most everything in metro Manila at only 2000 rpm. That 6 cylinder is worth it, believe you me. I would have bought a CX-8 but all the goodies you get for around 600k makes the step up a no brainer. This car should easily cost more considering everything that comes with it. It's a gas guzzler in traffic and gets around 4.5 km/L per tank in pure city driving. But then again, if you're fretting about gas prices, you shouldn't be looking at this car and get something smaller with a sub 2.0L engine. Oh yeah, I used to get flagged down on coding days when i first got this but since December my flag downs are down to zero. Having an LTO compliant 'hybrid' green temporary plate helps a lot.

I still feel like the CX-8 is the best value is Mazda's line up - 7-seater, powerful, spacious, and good feature set. That being said, seeing the CX-60 and CX-90 in person, one cannot deny the sort of "majesty" they exude.

I am glad about the honest transmission view, was only worried about the stiff suspension being the main topic from Western Auto Media’s feedback but with the horrendous traffic crawl we need to do here in the Philippines, I think we need a smoother operation of the transmission.

    Very entertaining review.
Test drove the CX-60 inline 6 in New Zealand. I expected a 2024 vehicle at this price point to have a digital rear view mirror, connected services, highway assist to name a few and CX-60 has non of these.
Also, the wireless charger did not have a proper grip with the phone, and the rear passenger entrance is a tight squeeze.
Hope Mazda would fix these in the next iteration.

For the CX-60, I watched other reviews from other countries and they think the diesel is the better option than the gasoline variant. The stiffness of the ride (Mazda may need to a adjust this) and the transmission (I'm not a big fan of dual clutch, i owned one previously and was a disaster and prone to breaking down) are the major comments they have. Here in the philippines our major problem is we have terrible roads which is a problem for stiff suspension cars. This car was made to challenge the bmw X3/ Audi Q3 for a much cheaper price remember that this car is 300k more expensive than a top of the line CRV/ Rav 4 which is still a good but considering this has bigger engine, great interior and great looking car...

  • @bv9735

I agree with everything you said and I trust that Mazda will take all of this feedback onboard and that the next update will be so much better. I waited for so long to purchase a CX-60 Azami PHEV (in Australia) but was very disappointed when I drove the car. I ended up purchasing a CX-5 Akera Turbo which is also a fantastic vehicle. I will happily upgrade to a CX-60 in the next few years once Mazda addresses all of the issues.

Great review, I understand your criticism, as I would expect a Mazda at that price point would be more refined.

6.5Km/L is not bad considering a tricycle ride in BF Homes Parañaque would cost more than a liter of premium gasoline for the same distance so then it would be better travel in that vehicle... what is not better is the difference in cost of buying a tricycle vs. a Mazda 60.... hihihi

Informative. Mazda is my preferred brand to buy in case my family and I decide to go back home for good. This CX60 is a good option considering it is comparable to my current 2018 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid. Honda decided to go CVT or eCVT with their newer cars, and I am not a fan of their new tranny, although I did not recognized the difference when I drove their now defunct Acura ILX, wich is now the new Integra.
This 6 cylinder car is marketed towards people who don't really worry about gas mileage, the electric motor is there to assist the acceleration more than hug the trees, which is the same as my MDX. I just wished Honda will release Passport in the Philippines, which will rival CX60. Only then I will reconsider getting another Honda.

The CX60 certainly looks impressive and has some luxury touches. It drives brilliantly on smooth roads with loads of power. But it has loads of problems. The ride is terrible on non-smooth roads bouncing too much at the rear. Some of the so called safety tech is downright dangerous. There have been several recalls since the launch date. My Inline 6 Diesel now requires a new engine after only 11k miles due to serious overheating. Very disappointed.

In other words, in stop and go traffic, an L300FB is much better 😂

You had better decided for the diesel engine which we prefer in high speed Germany...maybe next time.

Petrol Gasoline variant was the review unit that Mazda Philippines lent him.
But yeah, I think a Diesel MHEV variant review may be on the horizon later this year

I own a Phev from sept. 2022. Shock absorbers changed. I have had a LOT of issues that are still not fixed feb 2024. There is a LOUD noise under acceleration from stand still, gearbox issues, gearbox changed jan 2024 ..now there are even more issues with the gearbox. The cardan shaft has been changed several times due to vibrations ..it did not help. The steering is dangerous as it get stuck. There were problem with the gas measurer and there has been over 15 software update from the factory and a lot of recalls which include cardan shaft, gas measurer, steering wheel, software updates. The other issues are common issues known by Mazda as underlined in CX60 forums. Fantastic and beautifull car, but with so many issues. DONT buy it. I really regret buying mine.
