    Hi again guys,
See the documentary "Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet", and you'll findout how Marty met Jason, and was even a bit jealous how well he played for his age (from there, I believe the Shrapnel label president/producer Mike Varney suggested they create a band together relatively soon after their initial meeting and jamming with each other).
That intro to the piece is basically influenced by Japanese traditional folk music on the Samisen or Koto (which both incorporated on a track or 2 on each of their debut solo albums and the Cacophony track "Ninja") which "Lex" picked-up on with the "hand dancing", and throughout the track :D. Marty speaks fluent Japanese and has always been interested in their music history and Pop Culture. Has been a regular on several Japanese programs and hosted his own shows.
I know the "vocals" of Peter Marino are a required taste, but not only was their shredding on the debut album of Cacophony, "Speed Metal Symphony", its more akin to Tech-Thrash (which at the time there were just a few bands doing that) with a rough vocal style, but enough Mathematical technicality, odd-meter, syncopated/tempo-changes to WOW anyone who's a fan of that type of Metal.
I've listened to SMS and Jason's & Marty's solo albums enough times where I know what notes are coming and emulating them vocally like "Nick" was :D! I hope you guys react to some tracks off the debut, and the 2 solo albums for the uninitiated.
Lex was getting into it all, letting it all soak-in :).
Keep in mind Nick, that "Plucking" tone that reminded you of Mark Knopfler, that technique has been used widely, it reminded me of the Southern Rock band "The Outlaws" on many of their songs, especially their classic "Green Grass and High Tides" (and Carlos Santana on the Santana track "I'm Winning"). I'm sure Marty & Jason have heard a lot of various musics throughout their life to pick-up on that sound that fit perfectly in the track.
Btw - The Drummer on Marty's debut solo and on this album is "Deen Castronovo", who many years later joined "Journey" with their newer singer, and they often had him sing the track "Mother Father" because he also sang just like Steve Perry (also on Yt), while playing drums.
    - Always fun guys!

Very freaking cool you two did a Cacophony reaction. I’m a fan of both artists and, in Marty’s case, MegaDeth. You can definitely hear Jason’s influence in this song. Specifically from the texturing in the heavier parts (reminds me a lot of Perpetual Burns) and in the distorted guitar over the clean part at the end (reminds me a lot of something off the BlackBerry or Raspberry Jams. Keep up the great work!

When you announced "shredding" I wasn't expecting a delicate intro as this. At times the harmonic dual guitars remind a bit of Wishbone Ash who laid the foundation for that in the 1970s. Have you heard of them? Otherwise I might add them to my future requests list (as long as you don't raise prices too much in the future 😜).

      Forgive . . .
I don't think the vocalist was perfect by any means, but the vocals on the MORE aggressive timbre of their debut album worked for me. Especially for Savage, Burn the Ground, Desert Island and my FAVE track "Ninja" (the ending guitar "duel" is like a representation of a Samurai squaring for battle with a Ninja, and the music throughout has influences from Japanese traditional folk music). The problem I have is Marty's "lyrics" are very simple-minded :p. The "songs" on Speed Metal Symphony had enough Mathematical, Odd-meter, tempo changes and craziness to keep me VERY interested. I wish they continued in this direction personally (with a stronger vocalist).
But yes, the 2 debut solo albums are stellar.
Btw - there is live footage here at Yt Cacophony performing some of the "Songs" live, and the vocalist is terrible :(.
