    Excellent information! Honest and nowledgeable service techs like you are rare find. I'm sure your customer would have paid $1500-$2000 if a so-called knowledgeable AC tech fixed the problem by replacing the compressor, dryer unit (with the low pressure switch), expansion valve. The customer would have had his AC back and be happy not knowing he got screwed.

  • @1pcmedic

    My 2001 Tahoe was doing the same thing, it was the low pressure switch which would electrically go open on hot days. At high speeds on the highway the engine compartment was cooled but at low speeds 15mph it would cut out. If I opened the hood when parked it would work again when the heat load was less.........$15.00 back in business, still working fine.

    • @quinnthabarber
      @quinnthabarber 4 года назад

      Mine is doing the same thing. Its driving me crazy in this heat

    • @1pcmedic
      @1pcmedic 4 года назад +1

      @@quinnthabarber Take the connector off the low pressure switch and put a paper clip in the connector to complete the 2 pin circuit. If it works fine then the low pressure sensor is bad, going open due to heat. Just make SURE you are jumping the right sensor.........All this sensor does is stop the compressor from running if the freon pressure was extremely low or there is a leak in the system that let all the freon out so there is NO PRESSURE. It would only cause damage if you jumped it out and ran the AC compressor for quite a while. But if it was working great one day and not the next jumping it out when you have freon only confirms that the circuit goes OPEN for no reason other than component failure, and cannot cause any damage to the compressor.

    I bought a new Pontiac in 1976 , the a/c would blow warm air twice a week . Took to the dealership they couldn't find a problem . A month later I noticed a arc on the ground wire for the a/c clutch . I cleaned and tightened it . Never had another problem .

    I am having the same issues, works one day, not the next. I have a 2001 Mit Galant. It has what they call a Binary Switch, which doubles as a high and low pressure sensor I guess? Blows ice cold when it works. I just put a brand new sensor on, but its still not working day, working the next. Any other thoughts?

  • @HR-rt9nh
    @HR-rt9nh 5 лет назад

    Very interesting i will look into it as my 2000 silverado has similar problem... it works great ice cold air... but if i leave on the heat for a few minutes chances are good the cold wont come back on for a few days (daily driven) sometimes a day sometimes up to a week i wont get cold air out of it. then on its own it works fine.

    I have had the same problem with a 2002 Tahoe and a 1999 Silverado and 2 2002 Silverado.
    I replaced the Low pressure switch and I have even run a jumper to bypass it.
    I have an extra Low pressure switch right now but it will still have the intermittent problem.
    I am going to try putting the o ring on first.
    I would have thought the a/c guys that have never been able to figure them out over the years would have figured that out but who knows.

    • @367cuba1
      @367cuba1 5 лет назад

      @@Peter-os7nk Hey Pete! No it would not work for mine. My low pressure line doesn't have that sensor that is visible as in video shown. My sensor I'm guessing is closer to the compressor. I'm a Jeep girl and I do work on my jeep. I was have issues with my AC not working or it would surprise me and work for a week then go off again. I replace the blower resistor last week and still it nothing today the fan blower arrived I installed it and AC is running cooled. My Jeep is a 2004 Grand Cherokee Lerado 4.0, 6 cylinder. This would be the second time I've replace the fan blower first time was back in 2011. Though I thought it couldn't be that again, it was. I will be changing out more parts in the future, next on my list is compressor or just the clutch, not sure yet. So glad I have a 6 cylinder, sooooo much easier to work on, but if you have clear visual of your low pressure line / sensor. I would give it a go. Best of Luck, Jeep Girl...

    I have a 1989 Lincoln Town Car that has been a nightmare on A/C issues.
    My A/C shuts off on the highway, my fan shuts off when I select floor, & nothing comes out my defrost vent when I select defrost.
    Could my low pressure switch be failing?
    I just changed my check valve & Automatic Temperature Control Switch Servo.
    There was no change.
    Changed my blower motor resistor a couple years ago, so it's not that.
    I'm out of options.
    Do u have any idea what the problem may be?
