There was a time when I loved GTA III. That was around 20 years ago when older guys installed it for the school computers, it was an unbelievable technical masterpiece with the open 3d world. And Vice City come out and pulled everything better, so as I thought. As time fled more and more open world games come out, and by the end of the 00's GTA III felt utterly outdated. In the 10's I don't think I ever installed it. But after another few years I wanted to give it another go as an adult, without any childish pink cloud with overexcitement over first tricks. And you know what? I think GTA III was much more than a demo for 3D open world games. The dark gloomy rainy atmosphere is just something else. It's everything GTA IV wanted to be but couldn't. Forget the story and the clunky controls, just hop into a car and turn your radio to Rise FM and drive into the cloudy streets of Liberty City. That is some prime video game experience I assure you. Thank you for this alternative setlist, I'm really not familiar with these kind of electronic music.
Great work, Luigi! Trance Rise is always a key radio station in III, just blends in with the game's atmosphere. This playlist more than does it, truly remarkable.
