With the latest update they added 4 new amps: Mesa Dual and LoneStar, Friedman and Matchless C30. They all sound pretty good. It also solves the IR issue (v1.2.3). I use it as a preamp for the Mesa 50/50 tube poweramp. Killer.
@@TheJMan1K I use a Laney IRT Pulse to warm up the tone if I need too... Its a good recording device , but its very sensitive to which guitar you use I must add.
I just recently heard a demo of the new 250. I thought that it sounded great. It appears to have a very small footprint which I like, but the pedal appeared to be a bit small. Regardless, very impressive sound. Enjoyed your coverage of the 200.
I still need to do a firmware update for the new amps but hands down THE biggest thing with this piece of gear is good IR's. Once you find some good IR's that you dig she comes alive. The stock IR line up leaves a lot to be desired.
If Mooer makes a slightly bigger brother to this unit with both effects and the amp match feature from the Preamp Live, I would buy it day one. The current amps sound great though. Maybe even get rid of a few micro pedals... but probably not.
you have to use it in front of a clean channel of amp ..then a line out to a separate audio interface...doesnt matter about this IR and that IR..in your recordings it will still sound shrill and ice picky.Try it
Sounds pretty good but a couple of concerns would be how durable is that little expression pedal and how do you navigate through the settings in a live performance?
I bought one...and yes...it has that nasty digital shrill top end. I thought the speaker simulation was of but it wasn't...But good value for the money! You can't go wrong with JC clean.. compressor/tri-chorus/stereo delay/reverb...
Lots of cheap stuff have good sound already. D question is the response time and how much fiddling u need on stage to get the optimal sound. And has it got stomp box mode?
It is a good piece of kit...but you cant just go directly into your daw the presets and patches sound ice picky and shrill. For recording you have to put it in front of the clean channel of your amp THEN a line out to a separate audio interface for pro results
Thank You for a Great review. I needed an opinion from an expert about how it sounds, not how to turn a knob or push a button. Enjoyed your playing too!
I'd have this over an atomic any day - had the amplifire box and it sounded atrocious, but the line 6 hx stomp seems to be the show stealer in this end of the modelling realm if you just spend an extra 100 quid it would be so worth it (or whatever currency!) Great vid as usual mate
Hi leon... I m a ge200 owner pretty satisfied.. I could afford an ax8 but i m intersted mainly if not only in the mesa boogie amp models.. Is there night and day difference between this units in that specific sound? I dont care extra features only the sound. Thanks
@@BassGods Hi Ray, "IR" = Impulse Response. It´s kinda cabinet simulation in wave-format. You´ll have to buy some IRs from Justin York, or Ownhammer, to name two of my personal favourites and load some of these into your GE200, to use them instead of the built-in cab-sim! The difference is huge and it´s worth every penny!
Hey there thanks for the great video ! helped a lot ! I have this processor, but I am not satisfied with the sound quality .. Maybe I do something wrong but my setup is Guitar > Mooer ge200 > blackstar id core 10 v2 stero amp .. I asked to one of the pro guitar players, and she told me to use preamp before the amp is that correct ? and in case I need to get a preamp how should be the set up ? because sound quality is not satisfying at all .. it is not like in the description videos .. thank you !
Sell you Blackstar and get an FRFR speaker, that's the perfect match for a modeler. Another way is lo plug the output of the pedalboeard into the fx loop of your amp (in case it has one)
Nice review Leon seems ok if you're not able to afford a fractal yet.....another option for live would be a cheap tube amp like used Peavey 30 (1 x 12 combo circa $300) w a Drive & Delay pedal $100 and for home/recording you can buy an interface for $50 download a DAW for whatever computer you have and be chugging sensational plugins and IR's within the hour.....I think IR's are still facing a "useability" barrier that will either be solved by these cheaper units allowing onboarding of IR's or AxeFx taking over the world.
when you update the firmware on the Radar it also erases all presets... that's not cool. The Mooer pedals seem to sound different depending on which youtuber you listen too. I purchased the "Day Tripper" and was TERRIBLY disappointed in it. I am going to try to sell it on Reverb. I know that some guys really liked it but to my ears it sounded nothing close to the real thing. I've been using my Radar with a load box and my collection of tube amps which sounds very good to me. I really have not found an affordable "ampless" solution yet. The Ax and Kemper seem really cool but way more than I want to spend at this point.
No way m8! Is that a black Fender resonator guitar I spy with my little eye? If it is, we have the same guitar. And we went for the same Pedal too it seems. lol Maybe we need to be friends now or something, I am not toatally sure.
any fans of Iron Maiden should check out "Eugenepix"'s channel- he did custom IRS and presets for the first 7 Maiden albums and FOTD and Brave New World, and they sound INSANELY CLOSE
My mom used to say "If you go to a restaurant and they serve you stale bread to go with your entre, they are cheaping-out, and who knows where else they are cutting corners?" I bought a mooer "Slow Gear". I loved it, but the switch was so fukking LOUD! I threw it away. If they can't get that elementary aspect correct in this day and age, they are too CHEAP. I will never buy another mooer product.
Too fake, harsh, digital, synthetic sound ... Kemper, Fractal and Helix have way better, more natural, organic sound. I know, it’s not correct, compare an 300€ device with 2000€ device ... but I ´m sure, that also old Vox Valvetronix Tonelab ST has way better sound, that this box.
Leon Todd good idea ... for better understanding of difference between sound of both processors, you should check this video - ruclips.net/video/LbnBiAcdbIA/видео.html
Don't judge this device till you try it, I've gotten some killer tones for all genres. It shines when you use low tuned 7 or 8 string guitars, I can dial in any tone from any album in metal
all good devices, but I think the magic of the Mooer is using custom IRs. There's a dude on here who does every Iron Maiden tone from the Dickinson era albums and it sounds spot on, all on a Mooer GE200. It's like the Yamaha DX7 phenomenon. People make fun of the the chessy 80s synth sound that was overused with those synths, but that's because people were always just using the presets without taking time with the thing.

Big fan of the micro pre's and the Recto, 5150 and USA Gold sound awesome IMO
Does it sounds good going through a tube poweramp? Or should I save my money and find a used Boss GT-1000?

i have both the 50/50 and a real Dual Recto- Mooer is coming in the mail, I'll have to hook up and compare!

@@artvandelay2111 Now THAT is interesting! Though perhaps too big of a brother for what I would use it for.
That looks insane!
Apparently it has the "tone capture" from the Mooer Pre-Amp Live onboard as well ...... !!
Hotone will soon launch their Ampero, which is pretty much this with an extra footswitch.
Sounds excellent. Great playing, very versatile.
whats your gear on this video man?? why my ge200 don't sound like that when i record?!?! is why i use the mooer ge200 like interface?

Do you also consider the Boss Gt-1000 a "big boy modeler" like you consider the Helix, Kemper...
