Glad to see ya on my waters down here Warren!!! GR8 day out on Melones! Can be slow at times tho! I night fish a bit, and do pretty good up there... ~Chris
Seems to be the normal thing for down there I have only fished it a few times Seems like Rose island area and by the spill way are best Small fish were up shallow 30-40 feet deep Bigger ones were 50 feet down to close to 100’ from the marks we were seeing
Warren, have you ever fished for kokanee at bass lake near Oakhurst? Ive been fishing there about 5 times a year for the past 3 years and cant catch anything except for trout. Wondering if the koke frys they plant are being eaten by the bass and trout.
Bass Lake used to be an excellent kokanee fishery, after the dam reconstruction the kokanee fishing really died for some reason?. According to the kokanee power website roughly 50k fingerlings have been put in almost every year..... The last good year we had for kokanee was 2019. I live here in Oakhurst, I sure miss being able to be catching kokes in 30 minutes........I hear they are catching some 8-10 inch fish, so next year might be ok. We'll see. I highly doubt 50k fish get eaten by bass, so idk?
@@thereason3763 I believe that there is a lot of factors involved With some of these lakes Low water levels and warm water To many predators I’m sure there is some more reason too
Hate to be that guy but….Maybe use a net next time? If you aren’t going to keep the little ones, why are you letting them flounder in the boat while talking for 2 minutes before hucking them over the wayside?

Hey Warren,
I've been to New Melones once and got snunked. Where is the best place to fish for the kokanee at this lake? Thanks for your time!

Damn, guys are reporting catching tons up to 20inches. Go to show you can't believe what you hear only what you see. Fish on Brother.
You could not prove it by us
But there are lots of small ones in there
They never post when they get nothing or only little ones haha

We have put up a video of the only trip we got skunked
You're probably killing those Kokanee that you're releasing.
They are killing the released fish, they should know that.
