@@Brookssteff a) why do you think it released in 1996?? It released in 2016 and they even said that. b) why do you think robustness is positively tied to age? It is actually the other way around, the older and outdated and more complex a piece of software becomes, the more bugs creep in.

I overcame a heroin addiction, got married after that (IRL) got divorced years later, and this game has seen me through some of the darkest periods of my life. I bought this game on PC, PS4, Switch, Android, and Fire Tablet. across all platforms I have close to 5000 hours in this game. it is my all time favorite game and I started gaming in 1993 with Wolfenstein 3D. I've played everything from Silent Hill, Doom, Duke Nukem, SIMFarm (this one really got me into farming RPG'S) ....my favorite game was GTA San Andreas for maaaany years until I found this gem. @@superretro3907 True, but if he didn't have the talent to do all those things, Stardew Valley would've never happened.
isnt coding the same as programming?
@@egg-iu3fe It's different. Coding means that you write lines of codes into a certain programming language. Programming means that you use those lines of codes and other stuff to program instructions into something.
Basically, coding is just one of the parts of programming.
@@egg-iu3fe If you can code, that doesn't mean that you can program. So that's why I separated them. It's like Math and Physics, you require Math for Physics, but you don't require Physics for Math.

That part about an escape from depression/ anxiety really hit home. Downloaded this a few weeks ago and it's been such a cosy little retreat since and honestly the first 'hobby' I have genuinely enjoyed and wanted to actually do in a while
And weirdly getting that feeling of wanting to do something back has translated into a little bit of real world motivation, and helped me start doing things I used to enjoy like baking and knitting again. Most of the time the reason people aren't able to make money is NOT laziness. downloaded it last night and now this was recommended... i'm even more excited to play it! what a genuine person.
He's amazing. I just can't believe the coincidence that he's from where I live right now. Such a great guy. I racked up over 1k hours in SV before I found out he was from around here.
I could cry. This game has brought me so much happiness and has been a huge stress-reliever for me. It’s the first time I’ve been able to escape to something better in a long time.

"As a kid, when you first played... video games."
Is it just me or I think he was going to say Harvest Moon.
haha, you are not alone I thought the very same thing.
@@thebungisound810 lol I thought the same thing.
yea totally lol
Totally!! :D
Same. I thought he was gonna say it too but caught himself last minute.
This game is absolutely amazing and possibly my most favourite game ever! Eric is such a nice guy and does nice things for the SDV community:
-Listening to others
-taking feedback and criticism very well
-worked extremely hard with such humility
-putting our needs ahead of his own
What an awesome guy. It would be an honour to meet him or just have him reply to me.☺️☺️☺️
thank you so much eric for all these beautiful hours - this game will always have a spot in my heart
I got this game way back in 2017 when it wasn't the big popular game it is now. Years later, I'm still playing it and love it as much as I did when I first got it. I'm so glad that the price has stayed the same despite all that's been added to it over the years. When I bought it, I couldn't spend much/run big games on my old computer. This just means that many other people like me could enjoy it all the same at $15. Eric is such a great and supportive game developer, we need more like him.
are you saying the man, the myth, the legend of one of the best farming and life sims on the market, lives NEAR ME, all this time. bruh
I got into this game during the pandemic. In a time where I was really struggling with my anxiety, this game was a huge relief and brought a lot of joy back to my day to day life.
This interview was good, so calm and peaceful.
Stardew valley is a masterpiece and has character, much of that likely because it's one developer had 100% creative control.
i used to play harvest moon a lot and i just recently discovered this game. Im a 32 y/o dude who works night shift in a hospital & this game helps me a lot to cope w/ stress & anxiety. It definitely kills time fast too which is an advantage when u have a lot of downtime at work lol
This story legit makes me cry. So inspiring. Thank you ConcernedApe!
What a legend, an inspiration to ALL developers! Much love from Brazil, many people I know play stardew valley here
