We have always wanted to try one as well, and this sort of gave us a motivator. It's the sort of thing that one does that they want to share with friends! Thanks so much! Paul
@Brady Fries In my opinion it does not taste different from a chicken egg. That said, "taste" is a person perception. There are some very subtle flavor variations is how I would describe it.
We really enjoyed your video! Got an Ostrich egg today and didn't know what the heck to do with it! haha. Now we have to go watch the rest of your videos!
Well that's fantastic, So glad you enjoyed this. But if you're going to watch the rest of our videos you will be at it a while as there are over 700 of them, LOL! Thanks so much for joining us. Paul
Yeah, absolutely. I think it is something people resort to when they don't have, or can't think of, a common frame of reference that the observer could relate to. For this egg, it tastes like chicken egg, but that perhaps has a seasoning that I can't identify or am not familiar with, so I don't have a frame of reference to compare it to. But hey, it was good. :-)
Thanks Matthew! I have to admit, this is probably one of the most silly things I've done in my life. The thing just looks comical. It's like being in Fred and Wilma Flintstone's kitchen! While I was cracking it open I half expected the hear the theme music from Jurassic Park in the distance. LOL!
If it's has that strong game taste what do you think of using it for a mushroom and cheese omelet? Or perhaps in a quiche? I'll bet it would really be good in a breakfast burrito with steak chunks or of course bacon.
Andrew, it doesn't have a strong taste. Sorry if I didn't make that clear. It tastes a LITTLE different than a chicken egg, but not a lot. That said, I think it would be excellent in any of the dishes you mention, or a frittata as well. But most of all, I want to see what it's like as a deviled egg! :-) Thanks!
Thanks Theo! I am so glad you enjoyed this one! We also had the same wondering about how this would taste, so it was a lot of fun for us to do this one. Thanks again! Paul
On the surface that sounds like a very good idea. On the other hand, how many idiots like me are there out there floating around? I can't help but believe that they are very difficult to raise, and even more difficult to tend/care-for. I mean, this is a bird that weighs as much as a small horse, can run as fast as a big horse, eats like a big pig, and has the reputation of having the disposition of a pit-viper. The more I think about it, $95 sounds lie a steal!
Oh thank you Derek. I am so glad you got to see this, and that you enjoyed it. Sorry about the delay, but things happened. Thanks for sticking with us! Paul
Thanks Narong! Good to hear from you! I am glad we got to do this. I'm not sure if we will ever get the chance again, so that made it all the more special.
Well, they taste "good". A little different from a chicken egg, but I have no way of explaining how they are different. Flavors are one of those things that are typically very difficult to explain. Yes, this would make a HUGE omelet! Or about 8 regular sized ones. :-) What I am really dying to try is a "deviled" ostrich egg! That would be divine. Going to have to save up for that thought. Thanks!!
Egg-cellent comment. :-) This episode got me really, egg-cited. And so on and so on. Yep, it is just a huge as I imagined it. We were not disappointed. Thanks Jeff!
That would be great. I never thought about some folks would have them available locally, because I had to order mine over the internet. It was really fun. But then, of course, I love egg.
Zia, thanks for the concern. Unfortunately, I am still quite sick from the radiation. I was warned in advance that even though radiation was over that the effects would continue to grow worse for a week, or two, and then perhaps I would start to feel better. So, right now we are in the stage of it getting worse each day rather than better. We just returned from seeing the doctor, and I have a new medicine that is suppose to stop the vomiting. Anyway, I am just way too sick to be doing much of anything right now. We will get back to making videos when we can. Thanks again. Paul
It does indeed look like a regular egg, only much larger of course. It certainly is also costly, but it was super fun to have this experience even at the expense.
Actually about a month after this was videoed I was diagnosed with sinus cancer that resulted in my having to have a maxillectomy that took part of my face. So, shove your comment up your ass.
My apologies. I should’ve kept my mouth shut. You seem like such a nice guy and I thought you were just breathing really heavily. The content of the video was really good though. I hope you can forgive my ignorant comment.
Yes, I accept your apology. Thank you. Perhaps this can be one of those important life lessons. Things are not necessarily always as they appear, or sound. It took courage to respond and admit a mistake, and I respect that.
Fantastic I love scrambled eggs! From the chicken 🍳 🐔 😁 But this ostrich egg is really huge! for two Person, 🥚 Have you eaten all the eggs? Or a little bit is left? by the way.. the music at the end, is very good!!! Greetings 😁😁😁 Ettore
I think we ate less than half, and had to put the rest away. Just way too big for two people! We can warm up the leftovers. Hey thanks for the feedback on the new ending! Glad you like it. It was time for a refresh on the ending. Greetings from USA, and have a great weekend! Paul
Thank you for clarifying. I genuinely didn't understand. The eggs are incredibly expensive, and were it not for having always wanting to try one, and having the opportunity to make a video about it, I probably never would have tried this due to the expense.
I love how humble and happy he seems all the time
You are very kind. I am generally pretty happy most of the time. Thanks so much!
I'm supposed to be doing homework, and now I want an ostrich egg
Hope they have a farm in MD
LOL! I seem to recall that these came from somewhere in the southwest, but I don't recall exactly where I ordered them from.
im in MD as well
Love that apron. I used to go fishing at the lake in Wye Mill.
That is perhaps my favorite apron! I miss going to Wye Mill since we moved, but will certainly stop to shop on our next visit to the area!
@@Realunitedstates Well cheers. Great video btw. I went down an ostrich egg rabbit hole and landed here
wow that's a huge egg, and looks tasty, I've always wanted to try Ostrich egg

Thank you. You are very kind. I try to remain upbeat about everything to the extent possible.
wooooooow looks so good!
It was. Thanks!
I just love how you are so calm of cooking this egg.
Thank you, I was probably somewhat more nervous than I showed, but I had to concentrate on what I was doing.
I enjoyed this video immensely 👍👍
I'm so glad to hear that! I enjoyed making this video quite a lot.
Great love watching you! I think the word you were looking was rich lol xxx
Thank you.
I plan to buy one next year. I would fry it as I would love to dip bread in that yolk.
I think you'll enjoy it. The taste is very familiar and very nearly the same as chicken egg.
I think it's cool he is still replying to comments.
Well, thank you. The point of the comment stream is interaction, so I try to use that to the extent possible.
Thank you for showing us!
My pleasure! Thank you for joining us! This was fun to do. Paul
Gamey is a vague term I agree, Sweet, sour, bitter, smokey, grainy, milky are good terms.
Yeah, absolutely. I think it is something people resort to when they don't have, or can't think of, a common frame of reference that the observer could relate to. Excellent video i will be ordering one of these. Thanks for posting keep up the great work
Thank you so much! It was certainly something fun to try, and it tasted great.
wow!
that one egg looks like it could feed 4 good eaters!
Easily! Possibly more. :-)
Matt Stonie xd
He is cool
Is the yolk firm?
The yolk is, to my way of thinking, the same consistency as that of a chicken egg. The only significant difference is the volume.
Wow! Unreal!
Thanks Matthew! I have to admit, this is probably one of the most silly things I've done in my life. The thing just looks comical. It's like being in Fred and Wilma Flintstone's kitchen! While I was cracking it open I half expected the hear the theme music from Jurassic Park in the distance. LOL!
Dude one day... Sunny side down in a huge skillet left a little runny in the middle. I have a new mission in life.
Well, I think you'll find them very tasty no matter how you prepare them. I enjoyed the taste. Thanks.
I look forward to the video and the tool used to flip it.
Love the way you said dear. Sweet
Thanks.
Your wife is very good with the camera! She gets very good angles and shots
Thank you that is very nice of you to say. I think she does a wonderful job, but then I am partial. She takes what she does very seriously.
I got hungry suddenly!!! Keep up the good work man :)
Thank you so much! I am trying to keep making new video. Glad you enjoyed this one! Paul
Wow! I have no words! LOL
I understand. What can really be said about this, LOL! Well, it was fun. Thanks!
RealUnitedStatesVlog Haha, I just don't think I own a bowl big enough to support and ostrich egg!
Yeah, you do have to have all of the equipment to deal with it. :-)
I love this video that egg looks massive and tasty 😀.
Thank you! It was perfectly tasty! More than a little pricey, but tasted good.
If it's has that strong game taste what do you think of using it for a mushroom and cheese omelet? Or perhaps in a quiche? I'll bet it would really be good in a breakfast burrito with steak chunks or of course bacon.

... Or perhaps a sous-vide and make the planets largest dippie-egg. :)
Awesome channel thank you for making that , I always wondered if it was similar to the chicken’s.
Thanks Theo! I am so glad you enjoyed this one! We also had the same wondering about how this would taste, so it was a lot of fun for us to do this one. Thanks again! Paul
$95 for an ostrich egg?
I need to set up an ostrich farm lol

GREAT VIDEO BUDDY.......

Yay! The Ostrich Egg Is Here!!!
Oh thank you Derek. I am so glad you got to see this, and that you enjoyed it. Sorry about the delay, but things happened. Thanks for sticking with us! Paul
24 chicken eggs right there
Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. Quite a lot to deal with all at once, but good.
15 actually
Lovely omelette
Thank you. It turned out surprisingly well, considering I had never attempted this before and didn't have a second chance. LOL!
Let's make breakfast burritos
That would indeed make one big bunch of breakfast burritos. LOL!
@@Realunitedstates big n tasty put some hot sauce or salsa in it
Weird but cool 😎
Yeah, admittedly it was pretty weird, but it was a lot of fun, and it tasted more or less exactly the same as a chicken egg. Thanks!
It must be equivalent to 20 chicken eggs it seems.
I don't recal tha exact equivalency but yeah it's something like that.
I hope you get well soon😄I'll pray for you
Thank you. I am doing much better now.
so glad to hear
Delicious :)
:-) Yes it was. Although way too big for just two people! Great to hear from you Mostafa! Greetings!

Absolutely! A bit pricey, but an experience I will never forget.

Great Egg, Great episode! :D
Thanks Narong! Good to hear from you! I am glad we got to do this. I'm not sure if we will ever get the chance again, so that made it all the more special.
I wish i could try one, but i think a lot of it would go to waste
Yeah, you need both a big appetite and someone to share it with.
@@Realunitedstates True
Ostrich eggs are delicious?, I am jealous lol A very big omelette can be made from Ostrich egg.

I want one
Go for it! I had a lot of fun doing this, and the memory lasts a lifetime.
One egg, 10 omelets
Yeah, sort of. Depending on how hungry you are on that day.
I love this but I should be working right now
Well, I am glad you love this. LOL! Thanks so much!
Can u put on a video of your ostrich please
Unfortunately I don't have an ostrich. We purchased the egg from a farm that raises ostrich,
It's so BIG
Yeah, it really is quite surprising as it comes out of the shell, and you suddenly realize just how big it truly is.
That's what she said
Egg-citing video ! :P That's a big egg !!
Egg-cellent comment. :-) This episode got me really, egg-cited. And so on and so on. Yep, it is just a huge as I imagined it. We were not disappointed. Thanks Jeff!

I don't blame you, they're delicious. They're a bit pricey, but certainly an experience in life I'm glad I got to experience.

2 dozen chicken eggs from what I read
Yeah, I believe that is what I read also, and it seems about correct.
Have you done emu eggs?
No, but we did do a rhea egg, which is a similar large bird.
Who is this guy and is he’s and Beverly for real?
cogito ergo sum. I mean, I feel real enough.
If only that butcher knife had a sharper edge...
I'm only kidding;) that was a fun watch.
