It's pretty good tbf, I say with an entirely unbiased opinion...
‘It’s not about doing everything perfectly, it’s about doing the important things consistently.’ 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 Thank you Fergus.
Thanks for watching!
I ran my first 18 miler today in preparation for my first 50K. My hat’s off to marathoners and ultra runners. It’s tough work. I could have quit, but discipline kept me going.
Great stuff well done - best of luck with the rest of your training!
Welcome to tendinitis brother !!
Bro you are very underrated!!
As someone who consistently sets massive (arguably too big.....) challenges for myself, I needed to hear this. Small wins lead to big changes. Thanks for all you do Fergus.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching 🫡
I go through phases of discipline and no motivation every couple months or so. Not so much training, Im consistent with that because I've just done it so long (15 uears at this point) but diet, reading, tidying up, cleaning, being productive at work, seem to all go hand in hand. It'll go like - skip reading one night, watch a couple youtube videos during the day when i should be working, leave the washing for tomorrow, go to bed too late etc. Then one day i might read a chapter before bed, which makes me feel better, and makes me sleep better, which makes me want to work harder at work the next day, which motivates me to clean when i get home, so the next night i go to bed early and read 2 or 3 chapters before bed, etc. Then eventually ill fall out of good habits again for a little while.
Oh wow... this is me to a T, but I've never pinpointed that the slide starts with missing a beneficial habit... thank you!
The slippery slope effect can happen quickly for sure! I think the flip side of this is not to become overly dogmatic to prevent a little spontaneity/flexibility when it serves you well, as long as one can develop the skill to not have that kickstart a cascade like you’ve mentioned! Well done on many years of doing the right things consistently 🤝
Sounds very ADHD to me - I have the same - the positive effect explanation is called stacking. If you respond well to this sort of stuff the best thing I can recommend is having habits you want to build everyday and track them. When you do it ok you stay at the same level at days end, when you do it well you go up a level and when you do it poorly or not at all you go down a level. This eliminates the downside to your nature which is that the wheels fall off, because you start trying to avoid stacking poor performances instead of seeing one metric drop off and giving up the days thereafter. Seemed to solve it for me.
This resonated. Wanted to try my own RUclips channel for years but always made excuses not to and got increasingly angry with myself for not doing it. So I’m doing it. Started small and will build with time same as my fitness and adventures planned. Life is now. It won’t last forever. Take that first step and you might find you like it
I'm considering a career change, and of course I want it all to happen now! This video came at a good time for me, thank you.
Best of luck!
This was a beautifully simple and simultaneously profound video. Thank you, Fergus!
Appreciate it my man thanks for watching!
My favorite video I’ve seen on this channel. Thank you for this, very valuable!
@@2649 ah great to hear! Glad you got something from it - thanks for watching 🤝
I'm training for a 8 hour trail run and just did 27 miles/5 hours in the rain. The way I see it is if you don't train when the conditions are against you if it goes wrong on race day your onto a loser.
Holy shit, the honesty to acknowledge your failed suicide attempt is incredible. Thank you for being an example of vulnerability and transformation! Respect!!
ps: I can't wait to start my strength + 70.3 program! Cheers mate
Fantastic message and honesty, keep up the good work young man.
Brilliant video Fergus. Love the honesty on all levels of what you touched on. I was in the middle of your S&C Marathon plan (October BH weekend in Dublin) but I damaged my meniscus and have surgery this Thursday. I found the plan really really good and was loving the variety it brought. I'm hoping to do the Majorca 70.3 in May so will be buying your plan for sure.
Keep up the good work 💪
Thanks for watching! Ah sorry to hear, but great to know you were enjoying it, hopefully you can pick it up again soon.
Cracking video! Put some things into perspective in my own life. thank you 🙏🏼
Running a half marathon this Sunday and been following the half-hypertrophy plan. Been feeling really good about it and just wanted to say thanks for the motivation and tips on discipline. Your videos have really helped recently! Hope you win your wrestling match with your reason why
Awesome to hear - best of luck! Appreciate it 🤝
Good luck!
@@Kelly_Ben thanks 🙂
I love the rational look on discipline compared to most other "motivational content" which tends to be unrealistic with life situations. Love the content Fergus. Do you have a video on movility/injury prevention for runnning? Shin splints are killing me.
Wonderful way to begin the day. Thanks
Have a good one! Thanks for watching 🤝
Great motivation video. Small steps to big goals. 💪🏽

Thanks for watching sir!
Fergus, you can’t be dropping so many wisdom sh!ts in the first 10 seconds, my brain can only move so fast!
Haha cognitive challenge = discipline... Maybe..?
Brick by brick FTW! 🧱👏🏻
That’s it, reps on reps 🧱
Oh dear, using the liver king guy as an image for ‘going to eat well’ 😂
@@bensnook1 hoping you’ve picked up that irony was intentional 😂
When I first started running over two years ago I struggled to finish a 5k in 38 mins now I’m 40 secs of a Sub 25 consistently and discipline always pay off
Well done sir 🫡

If you say what you mean and mean what you say, and you always follow through with what you say you are going to do, that makes you somebody that is deemed faithful, or trustworthy. It takes discipline to keep promises, even if your feelings try to change your mind.
Cowards take the easy way out, but real men, men that are faithful and honorable, they will always make the right choice
Promises are much better kept!
I definitely need to work on my discipline, great advice!
All the best! Thanks for watching.
