The VSX Hunter rifles are one of the few that actually used a 24" barrel for the 243. Yeah, if I had a pressing need for something, I'd give one of these a go. Only thing I have the hots for is a 280 AI but I'd have pretty little actual use for one. Heck, I have three 270s and a 30-06 I almost never shoot. I've had nothing but great experience with Savage. My first bolt 223 was a Savage Varminter circa 2001. I think my first 22-250 was an identical rifle. Currently have an older 110 in 30-06 and a really old 110 in 270. Not 100% sure on the date, but it should be between 1966 and 1968 and probably closer to 1968. Still shoots like an absolute champ. Don't currently own a 240 but used to have a fairly lightweight Rem 700 and a not lightweight M70 Coyote, I think that was the model. Laminate stock and matte stainless/nickle type finish. That was one of three rifles I bought from a former benchrest shooter and man that was a great rifle!
well, not sure if Gunny Hathcock is still alive, but he used weaver in his time in the jungle to become the best. Just saying, but unless weaver rails and all that have gone down hill since he used them.

I bought my 1st Savage 110 with a plain wood stock in 300Win mag in 1988 , With a 4-12 Simmons & plain 180gr Core Locts it shot touching 3 shot groups, Stupidly sold it
Savage is my go to. But I prefer wood (even laminate, my current freezer filler has a Boyd's laminate) stocks, steel rings and two piece bases (look much better IMO and give action access) and I really have no need for a threaded muzzle. Maybe when supressors drop below $250 and I don't need to be a corporation or some such to register one. By then I'll be so deaf from age and degeration it won't matter.
I have a savage axis in 308 and I put a very nice scope on it and it is all over the paper, tried 4 different ammo brands and weight but none provided better than a 2” group. I have a savage 110 with walnut stock in308 and is a tack driver, not all savages are accurate. P.S. that guitar has a great sound to it, any info on it?
I have a question can you do a review the inserts that goes in a shotguns that allows them to shoot bullets like 22lr 45acp 357 mag 10mm 9mm I believe they make them for single shot and pump shotguns
I had a Houge overmolded stock years ago so maybe not the same as current. It was pillar bedded but the forend forward of the action was super flexible and not great with a bipod. Are the ones on you 110 Trailhunter the same or do they have something in them to strengthen the forend?
I’m not giving this man much rifle advice. 😂 Many people like to keep it all on the same side because it leaves the other side of the rifle to be smothered and clean and also without snags. The left side is gonna be on your cloths so you done want nuts and things sticking out that can snag. That left side without the nuts on it will the side you see mostly when handling the rifle so having it looks slick is nice too. Just my opinion. I do different things on different rifles for different reasons. Happy shooting!
Also on these rings… they have a bubble level on them. If you reverse the nuts to the left side you are putting your level on the right side and possibly on the back of the ring where you can’t see it at all. If the level is on the left you can easily peek at it or open both eyes to see it. If it’s on the right… if you can see it at all…. You would have to break from your hold position to move your head to see the level. 👍
My brother has a 308 that shot a one hole 5 shot group the size of a 308 bullet at all most150 yards never seen a gun shot that good and can do it ever time
Hey there! I asked you the other day if you preferred the 110 Trail Hunter, or the 110 Lite. I guess this means you prefer the 110 Trail Hunter. Is it because it has the longer barrel? My next rifle will be one or the other in .243.

@@TheBeefSlayer agreed, I use both styles and no problems
My uncle was very into the .243 for small game, red deer the largest, next up was moose and its not allowed for those big game due to having to low energy.
You ever going to do that video with your new browning x bolt in 6.8 western????
They actually say that laminate stocks are much stronger than traditional walnut stocks.
Evolution Gun Works sells picatinny rails for those. They run about $70.
Is this model better than the cascade in camo threaded barrel and vortex scope for $717 bucks?
I have a question can you do a review the inserts that goes in a
shotguns that allows them to shoot bullets like 22lr 45acp 357 mag 10mm 9mm I believe they make them for single shot and pump shotguns
Good old Tollivers! 😊
Yeah buddy
They nice bullet slingers, no one local to me has any in stock , I’m not sure of the caliber I’m going for though !!
Try the trail hunter lite next. Im curious!
Weaver bases are fine. Just buy Weaver base rings, and you’re good to go.
You can make a vídeo of putting some chassis ,I put the Oryx chassis in my savage man it looks good
I had a Houge overmolded stock years ago so maybe not the same as current. It was pillar bedded but the forend forward of the action was super flexible and not great with a bipod. Are the ones on you 110 Trailhunter the same or do they have something in them to strengthen the forend?
That action sure looks like what savage put on there target rifles several years back
Recommend moving your scope ring lock nuts to the other side. That’ll keep em out of the way on the working side of the rifle.
I’m not giving this man much rifle advice. 😂
Many people like to keep it all on the same side because it leaves the other side of the rifle to be smothered and clean and also without snags.
thank you. I've been shooting the 350L and wondering if you are a fan?
I've got several Savage rifles and they're all very good shooters!
The lower scope base may have led to a lower scope mount and deeper cheek weld which resulted in such tight groups.
Can you please do a review on the Weatherby 307 Alpine CT?!
I need to
@ you’d be the first legit one!
Cmon Adam, waiting on the follow up 6.8 western browning vid
I'm waiting to pick up the rings for it. Should be out next week
@ ok thanks fir updating me
I remember you pushing the Ruger American for quite a while. What happened?
Long story 👍👍
Did you just discover the Savages, or did something happen that made you lose that loving feeling for the Rugers?
You can modify weaver bases with a file to fit Picatinny
To much hassle and wouldn't be precise if I did it
That should be a good keeper.
👍👍
Thank you for letting us live vicarious thru your hobbies
Thanks for watching
Great video....I have one like that but in a 223 ....
Nice wood, polished blue steel are a joy for the eye, but then sling in on your back and it getsdinged scratches, ouch.
I like the look of a rifle fitted with Weaver rings much better than with Picatinny rails that look they escaped from a kid's construction kit
I prefer the longer, heavier barrel. I've had 2 of the lites tho and they both did good too
Waiting on the 6.8 western video 😁
Me too
Are those pillar bedded?
Dude… we gotta get you a professional wall rack system to put those rifles and ammo on. 😂 you need a store gone out of business to get a shelf system from or just buy the new fancy stuff Adam.
Airborne.
Trail hunter lite comes with longer bases, just saying and fluted barrel and Hogue stock.
Bur skinnier, shorter barrel
You have to be,their best customer!
Doubt it 🤣
I wish you’d do a video on the Sig Cross 18” 6.5CM
Whats your Thoughts on the Taipan X 223 or 300 ACC pump action rifle
Never heard of it. Sounds interesting
Love your vids Adam and your passion for gun learnt a lot of your vids xxden
Hey Man…you should have bought a Weatherby Vanguard…they have 24” threaded barrel
True. I like those. But those have skinny barrels
@…yes they do
So, are you going to get a 7mm back country?
Eventually
