    That is so lovely! It's a very nice construction. I defiantly see the use of a journal keeps you on track.

    Lovely dress and it looks great on you. I agree with the walking foot use. I have found that walking feet need maintenance to keep them functioning well. Don't for get to clean and oil your walking foot.

      Thanks so much! That's a great tip about oiling your walking foot, quite frankly I don't even think I ever thought about that. I'll definitely look up how to do that.

    I love looking at the directions of vi Tage patterns because they usually have super interesting construction techniques. Sometimes they are a bit hard to follow but they can turn out awesome like your maxi dress! Also love vintage sewing books for the same reason!

      They do have interesting techniques! I mean sometimes they’re silly (feeding one shoulder into another to assemble a facing-no thanks I’ll burrito it lol) but sometimes so clever! I really like how the casings are formed in this bodice.

    I'm going to adopt your journal ideas for myself. I do have a note book for projects but I don't really take notes on the construction. This I need to do.
    The dress came out so well and you look darling in it. I hope you get to go to a garden party! 🌹🥀🌺🌻🌼🌷🏵️

    Love when a garment highlights and showcases one's tattoos so well. This shape is so lovely!

    So much useful construction info in this video, thank you! Le sigh, I love the dress, it's super cute. Wouldn't have thought of black, but yeah, really nice.

      You’re very welcome! I don’t think I set out to but I’ve really ended up liking lots of florals on black backgrounds.

      Thanks! Do you mean the yellow peasant blouse I'm wearing? That's a Charm Patterns Rita top made in jersey fabric. 😊

    It turned out so well! Do you have strapless bra recommendations, or is the boning and cup-ish construction of this one supportive enough to go braless?

    • @tashacouldmakethat
      @tashacouldmakethat  Год назад +1

      Thanks! I wish I could say I do have a recommendation, but really, the strapless bra I have is... fine. Nothing remarkable that is worthy of recommending. 😂 I wear a D cup so it wouldn't be enough without a bra for me. I'd love a more retro strapless bra but so far haven't found one, so this is just a regular modern round cup strapless. I honestly don't wear them enough to have spent too much time trying to find something better. 😊

    • @lynn858
      @lynn858 Год назад +1

      Whether (and which) strapless is going to work, is more a factor of one's body and breast structure.
      Some bodies are more self-supporting of breast tissue, and then there's the shape of the breast tissue...
      There's a site/group "a bra that fits" which explains a lot of this, and has suggestions/links to what has worked well for other people with similar breasts.
      Best of luck!

      The alternative, being to find/make/alter a bra to have aesthetic straps, and embrace the extra criss-crossing strappy lines with this shape of outfit.

      I know, it was such a bummer! Someone suggested maybe framing a piece. I haven't gotten rid of it yet, in case I come up with something for it.
