Ma Long produces an unusual amount of winners on forehand loop, compared to his statistics in other games. In this summary I count 3 regular crosscourt, 2 regular down the line, 2 pivots cross court and 1 pivot ddl. Also, 2 interesting finishes to the body and 2 successful flips. One of the most aggressive appearances I've seen from Ma.
Ma Long was just great in every aspect of the game, Dimitrij didn't play badly and made some great points too but Ma Long was just magic.
Ma Long did show mental fortitude and I hope he will translate this skill into the singles world championship.

If there is a way to measure the distance a player has covered in a match, Ma Long's must have doubled that of Dima's. ML's footwork is just superb. He moves faster, he moves more. Much more.

That 3rd set was epic. I think Ma Long is like Son Gokū: he becomes stronger after falling or getting injured. Those blocked balls, or launched by winning strikes at the opposite side of body shows clearly that Ma Long is not only a "power beast". He still has improvement margin. A lot of it. (IMO he is the TT player with best potential among all top players). If he keeps growing, eventually we will able to see someone who fights with Waldner for the title of "best of all time".

The lesson learnt is do not play forehand rally with Malong, you will lose easily.

Dimitri is very talented but he suffers from his out of balance style: too much backhand. Ma Long is amazing in how he uses his whole body and he keeps his cool all the time. He turns himself to a life size sling shot in a way that I don't see in anyone else.
So does Xu Xin.

LegIsLate only due to the nature of his style. even with rpb , backhand is still not the main weapon for penhold players, not to say they can't hit powerful winners on a backhand, but the very nature of penhold dictates that your backhand will always be your second option because it will be weaker.

Vincent Tran you are right if we are talking about penholder players, wang hao's backhand is unbelievably strong for a penhold player. But compared to shakehands of the same caliber, like Zhang Jike or Fan zhneg dong, wang hao's backhands doesn't really have the same stability, snap and bite on his shots
