Fantastic. One of the best tutorials EVER. Fast, clear, detailed. Thank you. Love this device, been using it a ton since it’s so intuitive but this is great to dive way deeper into the options.
Great overview -- i was kinda ignoring the monostation I bought from my buddy, then found out it works great as a sync hub for receiving clock from the old korg KR55 drum machine and then sending out to whatever I need...now I'm starting to explore what this beast is capable of and this is very helpful. I can see this becoming a primary part of my setup
Lich Skywalker The monostation is fantastic. It’s literally the bass station II and the circuit in one.. and more. It sounds so good! Ignore the shitty patches it comes with.. dig into the synth!!
By far the most helpful video I've found on the features of the Mono. Really appreciate this after just unwrapping mine. Novation: Give this creator some love!
the only thing i miss in this machine is an effects section, you have to use an external effects unit, and that is propably what most users will do -- i just won an auction with this machine and will receive it the coming week - hope i will learn tu use it in this decade! -- thx for the demo, Levi in sweden
I just got one late week and haven’t had much time on it yet. New monitors are arriving tomorrow so I’m going to have a good session getting to grips with it. I used to have a Circuit so I’m confident I’ll get it down pretty quickly. This video was a big help though, cheers.
Thanks for the vid! Inspired me to get my Mono Station out, hook it up to my Circuit and write a new tune. Also looking forward to the new updates for both of them this summer. Some great features coming up! Keep up the great work!
I have a Mono Station question I hope you can answer. (working from an init patch in an empty session). In the mod-matrix I've set LFO to control Filter and then I've used the rate knob to set different wub speeds in a pattern. Also in MM, I've de-linked EG from filter so that only the lfo controls it. So far so good. However, if I leave this single bar pattern to play out, it's as if the whole bar is on a slow lfo. Where is that 1-bar LFO coming from and how do I switch that off? Thanks in advance.
@Bumwhush Thanks! if I don't want to send the "beat"of the circuit trough the filters and osc of the mono station I just need to play them "separate" (without midi) but at the same time?
I love my Circuit! So much weird fun. On a side-note, I have had difficulty getting it to sync to my Roland JD-Xi, although if I sync both of them to a DAW, they sync up just fine. Those are the two hardware midi-capable synths I have, so I wanted to hook them up for DAWless jams, but haven't gotten them to talk yet. Is this something weird about the way Roland implements midi in some of their synths? I thought I'd read something to this effect recently whilst researching it. Thanks so much and love your channel!
You select Osc2 and the LEDs change colour on the controls. Then you can adjust the Osc2 parameters for that patch. Note that there is only one filter and VCA so you have to go paraphonic.
I have one, but I'll admit the only thing I kinda have down is the sequencing. I feel like I have learned more about the Digitakt and I have had my CMS way before! I think I need to brush up on synthesis and the mod matrix. I want to learn about signal paths and wave forms, but I don't know a good place to start.
Great. But you are very very fast. I so wish you did a more hands-on, in depth tutorial, such as how you're making a full track using Circuit Station Mono, rather than just a looped sequence of notes. This generally removes all obstacles, and from that point onward you can simply experiment to arrive at all of the other less known features.
Yes, the narration does sound better on a desktop. Sounds like your voice has some stereo processing on it, so when a smartphone outputs it in mono, there is probably some phase cancellation.
I kinda liked the original circuit better. i just got one of these brand new for only 200, which was a steal, but I really thought it would at least have a couple of percussion tracks like the original. Oh well, i guess I can just use this to add a couple random sequences to tracks, i just feel like Id be totally missing out on its potential. Maybe Ill try to write a couple tracks with just this and my TR-08.
The Circuit is that one thing I just really dislike. It sounds like a really bad soft synth from the early 2000s. And I hate that so much of editing relies on decrypting a blinking grid. Wouldn’t have killed them to put in even just a tiny display. Even your remarkable talent couldn’t redeem it in my eyes.
It's an instrument, learn to play it and it's great, Not everything needs a screen.... A guitar hasn't got a screen and they've been used by alot of people for a long time! You're really missing out if you'll only ever touch things with screens.... How do you make coffee? Do you have an ipad app and an arduino?...
Best video I've seen about this. It's not for everyone. Thanks Jade for your time in effort in all your vids! Keep it Jammin'
By far, the best vid on this product I have come across for newbies. Thank you.

I purchased a secondhand one of these a while back and have only just got round to using it. Your tutorial has been a great help, thank you 😊
OMG! Best tutorial on the Mono Station anywhere. Thanks!

A good tutorial. Too many reviews focus on the synth engine which is pretty straightforward.

Lots of great information here. Just what I need to start unlocking the mysteries of my new CMS. Thanks!

Keep up the great work!
The audio is trash, but the tutorial is excellent! Was looking for a reason to justify waisting more of my money, and now I’ve got it! 😂
Very nice video thx

thanks for the tutorial! can you explain how to connect the mono station with the circuit and play together?
@Bumwhush Thanks! if I don't want to send the "beat"of the circuit trough the filters and osc of the mono station I just need to play them "separate" (without midi) but at the same time?
@Bumwhushaaaah I see. Thank you very much !!! will try that :) been trying for ages :p :p (without knowing the system settings :p )

Hey, I really like your content but the audio has a lot of issues on mobile.
How do you record using Osc 2 without changing your Osc 1 patch sound?
You select Osc2 and the LEDs change colour on the controls. Then you can adjust the Osc2 parameters for that patch. Note that there is only one filter and VCA so you have to go paraphonic.

It is deep!
Hey Jade, Do you know how to do a factory reset on the Circuit Mono? for some reason i cant record automation anymore.
u explain well thank u now i can play well
Nice review, Jade! :)
Sound and volume was good, too. ;) Peace, Be well! K
Alot of people bought this thinking it was a better version of the circuit...... When it's entirely different
when i press play i have a song playing. how do i remove this? I can't record anything either.
Gotta clear the pattern or make a new one!
how do you clear or make a new one?
but it only has synth saw only? I thought it was like the electribe, full of sounds and drums, as well as other instruments...
You mean the circuit not the circuit mono station
Ahh, really, circuit is one thing, and mono station is a different product ??
exactly! :)

4:25 Ukrainian Dorian :D
Thank you for this. Perfect for beginners. Lots more love coming as a result of #April2019 discounts.
how much does this puppy cost?
Shortcut they are cheap now you can get a second hand one for around $325-350.
In Brazil? Well, 4990,00
nice.
For some reason, my sessions won’t save.. and it’s very annoying
You have to enable saving after delivery by pressing holding SHIFT while powering on the unit.

Ronald Figura That would explain it! Thanks for the tip kind sir

It's an analogue monosynth, what did you expect
The circuit was drowning out your narration. Other than that - great video.
Ronald Figura For some reason this only happens on mobile devices
yeah it sounds perfect on my compy
Dawless Jammin' - maybe it's stereo on a desktop?
Ronald Figura not sure, but spent hours trying to fix it then gave up lol

HisXLNC haha well the synth and sequencer are separate so you don't need the sequencer to edit sounds too much. it is a unique device though
It doesn't really need a display you just have to take the time to learn it. Its actually perfect for live performance.
It's an instrument, learn to play it and it's great,

lol yeah a screen would have helped, I feel like you have to read a manual before you can use this thing, who the hell does that :D
Hey Jade, Do you know how to do a factory reset on the Circuit Mono? for some reason i cant record automation anymore.
Did you ever find out how to do this?
