Thanks for all your reviews Andrea. In this financial climate hearing what products NOT to buy is actually more important for me than those that are great. Take care.
You have to remember ladies that most drug store and high end products are made in the same labs with the same ingredients. You are paying for the name and packaging. Higher price does not mean better. You can’t go wrong with Elf, Milani or Colorpop.
I hear you guys but I have to say most things I buy from the drugstore, even before I knew anything about mid-high end products, I felt like I wasted my money a lot, I threw so many products away. And once you open something you can’t return it, the cost is still high and I just rather buy what I know works, what I will enjoy. I buy my makeup once a year, skincare twice a year, it’s worth it to me. But I do still have products that I love from the drugstore, just not many.
High end doesn’t always mean better, that’s true. However there are some products from the drug store that I just can’t get into. One being eyeshadow, I have maybe 2 formulas from the drug store that I enjoy but most of the other ones I have tried are not good.
Thank you SO much for this type of video! It’s just as helpful (maybe even more so) as recommendation videos! Yikes! I got the tatcha silk canvas as an ipsy add on for $18. I used it once bc it said it was ideal for combo/oily skin. I used a little speck of it bc I heard horror stories from people who have used too much (a grain of rice for the whole face). It did fill in my pores but I didn't necessarily notice it do anything for the longevity of my makeup. I'm glad I didn't buy it at full price!
I am on the fence when it comes to the Kosas Cloud powder. It works pretty well on my dry, mature skin.... but I like the Elf Halo Glow powder so much more. I have to make myself use the Kosas powder, because I know it won't last as long as regular powders. It only works if I use the smallest amount possible. So I can understand how it could be a problem for those with oily or combination skin!
I love the elf Halo Glow! It would be amazing if they came out with a pressed or baked version as well. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this product!
I don’t like the Kosas cloud setting powder either. I was so excited to try it as well because I love finding a good powder. It looks Cakey on me and doesn’t really set my makeup either. Plus I’m very oily so I need something to really set my foundation in place. I didn’t even think of trying it under my eyes because I can just tell it will crease and look awful.
As a powder lover myself, I'm wondering about the Charlotte tilbury, I have better luck with loose and for 48$ I'm afraid to take the plunge but Everytime I'm in Sephora i go and try it and it seems beautiful, however I constantly comeback to , Maybelline fit me loose nothing has beaten that yet
I got the Huda Beauty blush a while ago and thought they accidentally sent me a mini! It is sooo tiny, especially for the price! Definitely looked way bigger on the website. I have trouble fitting my blush brush in :/
Yes!!!! $22 for 0.08oz!!! That’s an eyeshadow in some palettes. I thought I bought the mini too. That said I do like the formula but for the price per ounce I won’t buy again on principle alone.
Drugstore has just been KILLING IT these days that I can’t even remember the last time I bought anything from Sephora. Oh yeah it was the rare beauty concealer. Hated it and returned it 😂😂
@@AndreaMatillano fyi I’m 54 dry under eyes I hate most concealers 😂 I can’t find one that I’d buy a second time. I’m going to try that nyx serum one though. Fingers crossed lol
These types of videos are actually super useful, especially to help avoiding wasting money. From Kosas I only ever used their setting powder which I loved, I used it up quickly so it didn't expire on me, but I do wonder if they will ever actually do anything in terms of reformulating their products so they aren't expiring so fast, especially powder products should last longer. i did want to try the concealer and foundation, but it takes me ages to finish foundations so with the quick expiry issue I held off buying it.
I can definitely relate! I haven't had any personal experience with their products expiring either but it does make me think twice before purchasing from them. It would even be nicer to see smaller versions or minis so people could use the products up before they expire.
I now use Wet n Wild taupe eyeliner as my brow pencil. It is wonderful. I have spent so much money on brow pens and pencils for my thin brows and this only cost$1.29
Great idea to use that W&W taupe as an eyebrow pencil..brilliant! I’ll try that~it might just be the right shade for me. If not, I can use it on my waterline.👍
It works great for me. My brows look fuller now than than they did before. Just remember to get a spoolie or save a spoolie from another brow product. I press hard on my brows so they seen. I have extremely light hair on them and nothing else was goood
Shocked about the Caliray mascara! I have the complete opposite experience. It adds great volume without clumping (I work at Sephora and clients ask me all the time what mascara I’m wearing) and it’s really easy to remove with warm water. I guess that really does prove that your mileage may vary.
I think I would cry if I paid over 50 bucks for a primer and it didn’t work for me, I still hear people using the tatcha silk primer, usually people with dry skin, but I would never pay that much.
The milk eyeshadow primer is very long wearing but it needs to be set with a powder before applying the eyeshadows (there s not patchiness either if set).
You're right about the huda glowish, however I paid £9 and put it in gym bag. It's almost like high drugstore price. Definitely no glow and it's small. Very small.
I love these type of videos from you. We have the same skin type and preference. It helps me so much when it comes to my spending on makeup and skin care. ❤
I have super dry, textured skin and I use the kosas cloud set mainly for my under eyes to set my concealer and so that my mascara doesn’t transfer! I don’t love it for everywhere on my face
Agree 100% about the Kosas powder too! There was so much hype but it didnt sit well on my skin, made it look textured and didnt set foundation well at all! Thanks for this list of products i can avoid!
So funny cuz mascara is so personal. The Cali ray is my absolute favorite. My eyes have become ridiculously and annoyingly watery in my 30s. (Fun for all makeup lovers 😒) It does everything for my lashes, lasts and comes off pretty easily for me, though I’ve always had minis. I just prefer them.
I agree with many of these products, I tried all those Kosas products and I did not like any of them either. The foundation and concealer especially were horrible with my normal dry skin. I did not like the Caliray mascara either, I have bad luck in general with tubing mascaras .. Loved this video!!!
I love your eye makeup today and to my surprise I have all those Colourpop shades...I will attempt to recreate but that is my fave look these days! Beautiful!
I was also disappointed by the Glowish blush and bronzer. Neither worked for me. I did choose a deeper color because I like my blush seen and it didn’t show up either. I don’t think it was just the lighter colors. 💛🌻💛🌻
I just rediscovered my Caliray mascara like 3 days ago and have worn it every day. I didn’t like it when I first opened it, but it’s been at least 3-4 months now and I happened across it amongst my dozens of mascaras so I tried it again and OMG I loved it! And part of what I love is how dang easy it comes off! Lol!
I have to agree with you about the Caliray mascara. I give a mascara 2 shots before it goes in the trash-totally ended up under my eyes by the end of the day!
I missed out on the Ameryze (sp?) highlighter so I couldn't compare the Iced Out to it. I know most complain about its sheerness, but that's why I like it. I prefer softer highlighters these days.
Love all of your insights! Btw I just bought the Cover Girl Yummy Gloss based on your and Jessica Braun’s recommendation and it is sooo good! It reminds me so much of the Patrick Ta gloss!
Two thoughts. I've been thinking of trying the Anastasia iced out highlighter so should I? And I wonder if sometimes when consumers test something like a plumping lip, or a smoothing primer, there is a placebo effect where they expect to see plumping or smoothing so that's what they think is going on, and that's how a formula that doesn't quite work Passes.
I bought the dezi skin mist and I was so disappointed. Not in the product itself but before I even got halfway through the product the nozzle broke and nothing would come out. And since they use pressurized oxygen technology I wasn’t able to open it and transfer it to another bottle. Such a waste! And it was expensive! I was so disappointed 😞
I liked the glowing blush, but I bought the dark berry color, but you do have to put a lot in the brush, now her cream blush is another story, that thing broke me out in hives, I think I am allergic to the lychee extract she has in it., I usually love most of her products, but everyone’s skin is different.
I think Kosas actually completely reformulated their bronzer! I never ended up picking it up the first time around because of the mixed reviews. I'm still deciding on if I'm going to try the new one lol
I quit buying kosas concealer because it would smell rancid after a month. At first I thought I just got a bad one, so I purchased it again because I really like the product. Five or six weeks later it smelled rotten.
Dang I love these kinds of videos. The oribe body wash i tried recently wasn't bad but it definitely wasn't worth $60 CAD. It smelled amazing like their shampoo but you get so little plus it dried my skin out more than I would've liked. And long ago I tried that Charlotte Tilbury airbrush flawless foundation and I returned it the next day. I could see all my pores and it broke apart so bad by the end of my shift at the time. I almost want to give it another chance tho...
So interesting to hear about eye primers! For me the urban decay eye primer is the worst. My eyeshadow honestly looks BETTER without it than it does with it - and I've tried various application methods and eyeshadow formulas on top of it. My eyes just turn into crease central, and I hate it. I had a sample of the milk makeup one and it performed so well for me that I recently bought the full size. My only compliant is the applicator is a little too stiff and prickly, but performance wise it has been giving me 10+ hours of no budge eyeshadow looks with a variety of eyeshadow formulas, in a way that the urban decay never has.
I have heard alot of people love the glowish blush but in the dark colors I got the light color and felt the same way as u I hated it. I do love the bronzer but I got the tan shade .The Dior backstage highlight pallet is so hyped and I got it and hate it it's so glittery and it doesn't go on the color it looks they swift, I just hate it. I couldn't use the Tarte juicy lip gloss thing it dried my lips so bad they peeled . I hated the BM liquid concealer but I loved the BM serum concealer and they discontinued it , they came out with that new one so I think they discontinued both of them. I also felt the same about the Tatcha primer.
All of your links aren't working. They don't take me to the website. I picked up the UD Stay Naked Foundation and even though I haven't tried it yet, it's so beautiful on. I can't believe this foundation is getting discontinued. Even though I have oily skin, I tried the Kosas Tinted Facial Oil and that mixed with the YENSA Beauty Foundation it doesn't cause me to break out. I love how Elf's Acne Fighting and Poreless Putty Primers look when you combined those two and layer it on top with the Elf Power Grip Primer.
I actually love the Caliray formula. But I have gotten used to sometimes using an eyelash separator. Not always but I guess it may work differently for different eyelash types too.
@@AndreaMatillano it makes a huge difference! I can not stand my lashes getring clumped together honestly. It's great to have on standby just in case and has saved many a makeup with different mascaras. What do you think of the Tower 28 mascara?
@@charmedbymeghan That is so good to know! Thank you for sharing! I really do love the Tower 28 mascara. I think it does a great job lifting and curling but also adding volume.
@@AndreaMatillano I've been loving that one too! It has been so hard to find a GOOD mascara that also does not flake or transfer until this past year. Of course though I am always looking for the best of the best! Would love to see an in-depth top Mascara video with close-ups of application, etc! Those kinds of videos are so helpful ❤️ drugstore, highend, luxury - whatever WORKS lol ♡♡
I also have a couple of the Huda Glowish blushes (I got on a deep discount) and I think their cute! I dunno they are glowy and lightly pigmented like I wanted. No issues on application
I love when you give us the donts. It’s funny there is one that a lot of my mature babes love. It’s lux. It’s theBy Terry Cc serums. It looked horrible on my skin. The formula is weird. Ha ha. Give me a drugstore glow. Purlisse ageless glow serum 😂it is amazing
I have the glowish Bronzer and well.. it looks super patchy on me. Especially on one side. Didn't notice that problem with other bronzers before. Also have the huda blush stick and although I like how it looks, it feels too greasy for my taste and doesnt last as long as I hoped. So I will try setting it with powder in the future. Both products have really good reviews so I was a bit disappointed.
I’m not the biggest fan of returning makeup because of what I do on RUclips/social media. Since I typically feature the products in videos testing them out or sharing updates I usually end up making some sort of profit talking about them so it feels weird to return them for that reason. If I didn’t film RUclips videos I think I might feel differently! If they happen to arrive broke or damaged I will end up returning or exchanging those if I can’t just press them back together easily though.
Abh totally gaslit EVERYONE with that highlighter. Everyone thought they were gonna get another amreezy. They almost got me, but I held out just long enough to see some reviews, thank god. What a piece of absolute trash that was lol tatcha has a lot of products people love but damn that price tag. No ty. I do remember when it was the “had to have” primer though.
It's so true! They really capitalized on the hype of Amrezy for the launch of that highlighter. I wish they had just actually created something similar!
@@AndreaMatillano imagine the money they would’ve made if they came out with diff shades of the amreezy. I don’t know who runs that place but they really dropped the ball on that one. Instead they came out with 14 eyeshadow palettes in a year. What?!?! Lol

Andrea is the kaja lipglosses still one of your favorite lipgloss formulas. I love how it feels so smooth and glossy on the lips.
Yes! I actually wore one of them today! They are so good. 🙌
@@AndreaMatillano I'm thinking about getting honey drizzle. I already have pink drink and I'm almost done with that one.
I'm thinking the toofaced palette had an inconsistent formula because mine works great.
The peptide plumps after month of use, it’s not an instant plumping effect.
Good afternoon, Andrea! Thank you for this video! 🩷💜😊
I was excited to try the Buxom lip balm. I love their glosses. It was awful. It was right pink on me too. Disappointed. Returned.
I love powder too. It was a no for me too.❌️⭕️
Thanks for saving me money.
The silk canvas primer was disappointing
Always wanted to try buxom though😢😢 😍😍
I actually love the Caliray formula. But I have gotten used to sometimes using an eyelash separator. Not always but I guess it may work differently for different eyelash types too.
I keep meaning to get an eyelash separator. I saw someone using one and it made a big different!
@@AndreaMatillano it makes a huge difference! I can not stand my lashes getring clumped together honestly. It's great to have on standby just in case and has saved many a makeup with different mascaras. What do you think of the Tower 28 mascara?
@@charmedbymeghan she loves that mascara as does everyone else I’ve seen. And the separator thing…love love love
Happy Monday Everyone
Hope you have a great week! 💗
I also have a couple of the Huda Glowish blushes (I got on a deep discount) and I think their cute! I dunno they are glowy and lightly pigmented like I wanted. No issues on application
That’s really interesting! I would say maybe mine was expired or something but I ordered it right after it launched so I don’t know what happened. 😭
@@AndreaMatillano It just may not be for everyone ♡
I even bought the Kosas Cloud Set off Mercari because I couldn’t find it in stock retail. It oxidizes on my skin and looks so dry, bleh.
Love the video!!! Beautiful look!!!
0:26 I love these videos!!!
Thank you for taking the time to watch! ❤️
Sometimes For These Things Are To Much Expensive
Very true!
These videos are so helpful so I don’t waste my money.
My brother in law is rapping up a day long triple bypass surgery & this is PERFECT timing for a lil distraction 🙃
Wishing your brother in law a speedy recovery! ❤
I am glad I could provide a distraction during a such a stressful day! ❤️ I hope his recovery goes really smoothly!
Thank you both ❤
I love when you give us the donts. It’s funny there is one that a lot of my mature babes love. It’s lux. It’s theBy Terry Cc serums. It looked horrible on my skin. The formula is weird. Ha ha. Give me a drugstore glow. Purlisse ageless glow serum 😂it is amazing
We need to hear what doesn’t work!
Thank you.
Omg your lashes are awesome. What mascara is this?
Ahhh thank you! I layered the Milani Anti Gravity with the new Milani Lash Extensions!
I feel like people convince themselves that they love Kosas, or they just haven't tried enough brands to compare it to anything else.
Literally feel you can do better with kiko. They do baked products better and from Italy
Caliray mascara made my lashes and eyes itchy. I returned it to Sephora.
Oh no! That’s the worst feeling. 😭
Have a great weekend ❌️ ⭕️
Hi Andréa! Several of your links seem to be the wrong (repeated) 😮
Oh thank you for letting me know! I just fixed them. I appreciate the heads up!
ILIAs stuff smells so bad 😩
What’s your personal policy on returning products that don’t work for you?
What?!?! Lol
