I only knew the few famous English songs by Coco eg Before I fall in love, the theme song of Oscar winning Crouching Tiger as I seldom listen to Mandarin songs. Not until her recent death, I started to watch RUclips about her concerts & her stories, then I realised she was such an amazing person & a great artist. From the age of 2 after her leg surgery, she had to overcome the pain everyday in dancing & performance but she never complained until last year before her leg surgery, she announced it in her final concert crying. Last year she had breast cancer surgery & also battling depression. Apparently her husband cheated on her for years. A few years ago she challenged herself by entering a well known Chinese singing contests a few by singing a song ‘你’ meaning’You’. At first she couldn’t even bear to listen to this song as the lyrics was like about the father that she never met (who died just before Coco was born) & she sang it & won the contest. It was so touching how she sang it. I hope you will find this song even though it’s in Mandarin. I find I learnt a lot from Coco’s philosophy. She said she was a warrior!
I learned so much about Coco, her story, her strength, she was more than an artist and fighter. She was teacher, she believed in every artist she taught or coached or learned from her and their struggles were hers too. I will try to find more of her work for us to enjoy.

She only became famous in the US after the movie crouching tiger hidden dragon... but these old songs are popping back up because of her suicide death back in july of this year. She was my idol back when i was in jhs which was around the late 90s. You can react to coco lee's love before time... there's 2 versions, the english version and the mandarin version. 😊

I heard about what they did to her on the Voice China. It was heartbreaking. I will add these to the list.
