This video brings back memories of the many times i drove this road into Kantishna. Not as a tourist but as an inholder(gold miner). What the park doesn't like to admit is that there is a lot of privately owned land in the Kantishna hills district of Denali.
It is definitely "our wilderness"! Gives great joy to see the grizzly, the caribou and the ground squirrel. A great view of the Denali mountain and Tundra vegetation. I love the wilderness....Thank you for sharing with us!!
Nice video. Was there in May 2019. Almost got left at the Eielson visitor center and It was the last bus out. Thought I had at least one hour, but found out otherwise. After checking out the books at the visitor center I went down to the river to talk to one of the ranger. One of the other bus passengers realized that I had not returned and yelled for the bus driver to stop. I figured the rangers would have put me up for the night, or I could sleep in one of the restrooms with the heavy lockable doors to keep the grizzlies out. Did not have the opportunity to hike the trail like you did. Denali was clouded in on the day that we went as well.
We got the best view of Denali from the south viewpoint in Denali STATE PARK right on the Parks Highway. The whole massif was clear and laid out like diamonds.
Hi Gabriel ....congrats on the 100 000 subs... really enjoy your videos have been a fan since way back....thanks for showing the world in your special style ....and thanks for all the hours you put into all your videos filming, editing unloading etc etc etc ... cheers
Gabrielle, you need to take a trip to svalbard, right up near the north pole. It has plenty of wildlife and you can get a cheap flight there from oslo. It is polar bear territory, and there are affordable hostels etc.
Hey Gabriel, ever thought of doing a podcast? It seems like you have met plenty of interesting and intelligent travelers you could have as guests. I think you would do well with it and it would further diversify the platforms you use. Books, youtube channel, podcast? pretty solid trifecta
Btw, if you have any plans of visiting Holland again, hit me up. I'd love to see you do a video of my city (lots of things to see, city walls dating back to both 1225 and 1318, an amazing cathedral built in 1220 (rebuilt in 1530), etc.).
you can see more bears floating the Upper Kenai river in Cooper Landing than Denali. i usually see a half dozen or more during a normal float fishing trip..its 30$ for a sightseeing float its about 1 1/2 float 90 miles south of anchorage. also..the bears in Denali are Grizzly Bears and on the Kenai you have mostly Brown bears not many Grizzly bears and sometimes black bears. the bears on Kenai are probably a ft or two larger from eating salmon. this time of year the bears are either eating salmon or berries depending on where you are
Sad fact--back when I was there in '84, the bus rides were free. In some ways, Denali is bigger than Everest, in that, though lower by around 9000 feet, Everest is surrounded by other peaks nearly as high as it is. But, Denali juts up from just a few thousand feetof surrounding plains to 20,310 ft.
After learning about the solar eclipse set to happen today, I'm surprised you didn't delay this trip and stay in Oregon to watch. Anyway as always great video!
Hi, there are bears out there so it's definitely something to keep in mind. Bear encounters are rare, mostly involving people seeing them from a distance. But here's a video in which I talk about how to avoid a bear encounter: ruclips.net/video/XpFmZLmB5mA/видео.html
GREAT VIDEO GABRIEL!!!! QUESTION - DO YOU RECOMMEND TAKING THE SHUTTLE BUS OR THE GUIDED YOUR BUS? NOT SURE WHAT TO DO? SEEMS BOTH CAN DO THE SAME. I APPRECIATE YOUR FEEDBACK. THANKS.
I know full well how dangerous it is to hike through the wilderness areas around Denali but damn I wouldn't want to be trapped on a bus with talking tourists
Toklat was the firts movie i saw in a cinema.....I hope you re not to sad not to see ruins, graffitis and churches !! I would have ask the girls why, with all the choices there is in the would, they are in Alaska. Most would go to Bali !!
That's pretty much exactly what they do. You can hop off the bus you start on at any point you want, and then you can catch any bus going back as long as there is room. You don't have to stay on the bus you started on for the whole day.
haha bambi, looks like i have triggered something with you, but you are correct in that they are not my species. Though we do have hybrids aboard our ships, maybe I can hook up with one or a hundred of them. haha cheers, anyway from the good mothership.

Hi Gabriel,
You are from California, so I would love it if you could some day show us Yosemite, Channel Islands and Pinnacles too.
I actually have a couple of old videos from Yosemite:

Beautiful..thank you..spent a week on Kodiak Island .you need to check it out..
So happy to see a new video first thing on a Monday morning to start my work week. Safe travels Gabriel and good luck finding some work.
Chris Brown I know right?! I was thinking the same thing
Spectacular!
Stunning views of the Denali National Park.
Well deserved 100k subs, great work Gabriel, enjoy all your vids!
We got the best view of Denali from the south viewpoint in Denali STATE PARK right on the Parks Highway. The whole massif was clear and laid out like diamonds.
Downtown Denali is known as Glitter Gulch by the locals (Fairbanks, Anchorage, etc.)
Educational and breathtaking footage.
Thanks.
You did it! 100K subs! Very notable accomplishment, that you have truly earned.
Thanks a lot, appreciate it.
Hi Gabriel ....congrats on the 100 000 subs... really enjoy your videos have been a fan since way back....thanks for showing the world in your special style ....and thanks for all the hours you put into all your videos filming, editing unloading etc etc etc ... cheers

congrats for 100k
Congrats for 100k!!!
Congrata for 100k
Firstly congrats on your 100k subs!!! What are your plans for your next destination and how long are you planning to stay in Alaska?
Not sure yet after Alaska, but I'll be up here for the next month since I got a job. I'll explain that in another video.
Do people in Alaska consider August the fall season? 4:27 😛
Pretty much. It certainly feels like it now, it's gotten colder just in the past week since I arrived.
Gabriel Traveler it's in the 50s this week not too bad...I think maybe you miss that hot Mediterranean weather 😉
I don't miss it yet actually, I'm preferring the cooler weather. That heat was too much.
Gabriel Traveler I think it was probably the length of time and amount of traveling you did that made the heat especially exhausting
Amazing!
Wow! Congratulations! I think you had about 30K when I found your work for the first time. Cheers!
What are your thoughts about the bears? I’m planning a trip to the park but am very scared about running into a bear on the trail.
Hi, there are bears out there so it's definitely something to keep in mind. Bear encounters are rare, mostly involving people seeing them from a distance. But here's a video in which I talk about how to avoid a bear encounter:

the scariest animal in Alaska? the cari-BOO!
Brent Perry haha that's a good one 😂

Gabe is the international man of mystery. Notice how he never mentions where he has been to people he meets?
Do you know why the flag was at half mast? 11:32
Not sure. This was the day before the terrorist attack in Barcelona so it wasn't because of that.
Gabriel Traveler ok I see you're able to keep up on current events in the wilderness but maybe that's not such a good thing 😏
100k wohoo! Subbed when you were at 7k/8k
The bear did Gabriel's musical fast walk through the market thing.
Haha, yeah.
100k Sub nice..
If you open up a Travel agency, Gabe, you can offer your expertise on how to travel affordably and safely to almost anywhere across the globe.
I'm so behind with Gabriel's videos 😞
Why is the flag at half mass ?
100,000!!!!
Woohoo!
Toklat was the firts movie i saw in a cinema.....I hope you re not to sad not to see ruins, graffitis and churches !! I would have ask the girls why, with all the choices there is in the would, they are in Alaska. Most would go to Bali !!
I don't like their shuttle system. They should just have one bus run every 30 minutes or so and lets you hop off any stop and then catch one back.
That's pretty much exactly what they do. You can hop off the bus you start on at any point you want, and then you can catch any bus going back as long as there is room. You don't have to stay on the bus you started on for the whole day.
Fire weeds should still be aplenty
Time to get a new pair of gloves, I think!
Hey, your gloves look like my gloves, full of holes.
The views are coming down maybe that's why Gabe needed to look for a job .I never skip ads on Gabe's videos.
Watch out for the invading armies coming from the north. WW3. Be safe Gabe.
:-)
salmon fillet for 23 dollars.....
Yeah, not cheap but it was good.
LOL what a ripoff
Not the PURR-DEE-EST (prettiest) OF GALS, but maybe they were having a bad hair day.
J. Rod Oh come on now, be realistic, neither of them would give you the time of day.
haha bambi, looks like i have triggered something with you, but you are correct in that they are not my species. Though we do have hybrids aboard our ships, maybe I can hook up with one or a hundred of them. haha cheers, anyway from the good mothership.
I don't like Salmon. I love the white fish meat. Trout.
Great video, Ill be there in July.
Try panning your camera more slowly, less jerky, makes for a more pleasurable view
