Yes, there's an intimacy and vulnerability in the solo performance (particularly the version recorded on the esplanade ruclips.net/video/4vHevwkzLgs/видео.html ) that doesn't show up here. On the other hand this recording, to me anyway, exhibits a bit of "in your face" defiance that I associate with the James Dean of my youth. Each lovely in its own right.
This blew my mind when I heard it on the radio the other day. It was first time I'd heard the song. I had to pull in car to listen to it because I was becoming a danger on the road. The lyrics are just amazing and he sings it so well. Pure magic! Btw did he write it himself, anyone know?
