      @izumiculture4030 Slick tyres were available in 2004 just not the modern ers and stuff so that is what the video was showcasing and as you can if the f2004 had been using slick tyres it would be faster which makes you wonder why has F1 regressed in 17 years?

      And Williams BMW V10 F1 car was on Grooved tires so it's pretty much equal to w11 in lap times
      What if 2004 F1 car was on slicks it will cut off 2-3 seconds
      Meaning 2-3 seconds faster than W11 on Monza
      That Williams BMW V10 F1 car reached 362 kmph on Monza
      W11 only 330 km/h
      So not even close V10 F1 cars were so much faster than W11
      In lower speed corners V10 F1 cars are always faster acceleration V10 wins much lighter
      W11 is only quicker on high speed corners

      @@Smzxe Drop some weight on W11 and remove fuel consumption restriction. People compare W11 and old cars, giving older car advantage and nothing to W11. Give W11 suspension trick, that Mercedes used on Turkey in 2021. W12 and W11 has same low rake concept, it should work.
      P.s adding slicks to old car may be useless, then they need to change suspension and optimize kinematics.

      It wouldnt be fair, even without drs. Buff the car up with drs, and overtake ers (if somehow we could add it to the car) and QUALY FUEL (people dont remember or know, that in early 2000s u had to start the race with whatever fuel u had in the tank after the qualy). Nevermind partymode, which was literally overclocking the engine.... ADD TURBO ON THAT SHIT, yeah it wouldnt be fair, neither pretty to watch.

      Очень просто это сделать с помощью цифр, а еще точнее с помощью телеметрии. Посмотри времена Шуми на F2004, ну и соответственно Льюиса современные, получишь максимально объективный результат.
      P.s. Просполерю, пока ты не начал сравнивать цыфры современный болид быстрее, т.е. ровно наоборот картина, в отличие от той, что ты видишь здесь в видосе🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🧐🧐🧐🧐

    im not sure the setup here is quite right, because while the F2004 is an absolute beast, the W11 looks to be Ai driven, meaning poor dirving, buyt also a likely drop in raw power from improper energy deployment, and lack of DRS.
    that being said as so much of the nordschlife is flat out, i think the f2004 would still win, as it has a higher top speed in high downforce setup, but also the W11 isnt setup correctly, it appears to be carrying far too much downforce for the nordschlife, which i believe in modern F1 cars would be akin to a monza setup, making up the time on the straights.
    and as the current world record for fastest f1 lap ever (in terms of average top speed) belongs to the W11 at monza, there is proper cause that it should have won this race.

    Damn another lovely video, but one suggestion: try and make the W11 have unlimited ERS, and have it only set in Overtake mode. Just like most Formula Hybrid mods, ERS is gimped when tackling the Nordschleife unless you mod it to have unlimited ERS.

      @@ren_03 ERS is part of the engine for this F1 era. Twin turbos weren't in F2004 era. The point the original comment is making is not that the W11 runs out of battery charge for ERS, and thus we should give it unlimited battery capacity. The Hybrid turbo regulations restrict how much of ERS can be deployed per lap to up to 4MJ. Nordschleife is a very long lap and W11 reaches that limit relatively early into the lap, meaning that it is not allowed to deploy any more ERS even if the battery is at 100% charge. In this comparison, the F2004 has already had a slick tyre limit (which was a regulations restriction in that era) removed, so it would only make sense to remove the ERS limit restriction for the W11 and see what it can do.

    Nordschlife is too narrow for F1 cars. The smaller and lighter cars with narrower tyres like the F2004 would work much better around there than the current cars. If it were at a cicuit like silverstone, it would be much closer and more representitive to decide which one is better.

      Its pretty easy - slick tyres are 4-6 secs. faster than grooved tyres. Just reduce the laptimes of the F2004 by 5 secs. and you have the laptimes of that car with the same tyres. There are a lot of tracks today with the same layout than in 2004 where comparisons can be made. For Silverstone- the F2004 on slicks would have driven a laptime of 1:13 on slicks. The W11 did a laptime of 1:27....its a difference of 14 secs. The track today is 700m longer than 2004 with a different layout, the difference is said to be about 10-11 secs. So the F2004 would probably havr still been 3 secs. faster. But for Silverstone its pretty hard to do because of the changes. But many other tracks are basically the same. I did such a comparison a few years ago. The F2004 on slicks would have been slower on 2 of 3 tracks, but on the majority of the tracks it would have been faster.

      @@fam.hunger5244 the problem with that logic is if you're going to give the F2004 slick tires (which were illegal) then you get into the gray zone of giving the W11 something that was illegal in 2020, and theres 8973248327 things you could choose, and even that still doesn't change the fact that your "fastest f1 car of all time" is actually illegal.

      Its debatable only if the 2004 car has Grooved tyres instead of slicks... But the major difference btw them is weight of the car (F2004 weighs 600kg and has 800-850hp literally 95% of the time whereas W11 weighs 780kg and has 950-1000hp only when the battery is full otherwise W11 has 750-800hp)

      As an Automotive Engineer, I can give some professional opinions on this as to why the W11 is not as good as the Ferrari F2004:
      This is the comparison between the Mercedes W11 vs Ferrari F2004 in the Nürburgring.
      3 main reasons as to why the F2004 is superior to the Mercedes W11
      1. The main reason as to why the W11 did not win this is because of the Energy Recovery. It can only sustain so little, giving its full 160bhp to the engine. But once it is depleted and waiting for the engine and the brakes to power the battery up, it will lose precious time to the Ferrari F2004.
      2. The dry and wet weight of the W11 is far greater then the F2004
      746kg vs 605kg (141Kg deficit) win to the F2004
      F2004 141kg Advantage
      3. Engine power F2004 vs W11
      920 bhp vs (1025 bhp - 160bhp) = 825kg
      F2004 95bhp advantage

      @@Dharshanth.k It really depends on the track. On Monza the F2004 would own the W11. On Monaco for example it’s the opposite.
      I think Nordschleife is a bit in the middle of those 2 with probably a slight advantage for the W11 because it has way more downforce. On the straights it wouldn’t be able to keep up (even with DRS) because of said downforce.

      @@Dharshanth.k The Ferrari F2004 NEVER, EVER had 900hp, let alone 920hp, but closer to 860-870hp, quite on par with the W11 without the ERS, so the power to weight ratio (while still in favor of the F2004) is not that detrimental to the W11. Rubber tech (assuming the F2004 ran back then with slicks) is far superior nowdays, not to mention the W11 used far wider rubber than the cars up to 2016, including the grooved tyre period. And don't even get me started on downforce, suspension, steering and all that stuff...

    I know this will never happen, but it would be cool if Ferrari could actually race this car against the modern ones all year long, on slicks of course. Looking at it it feels like having basically the same downforce as W11 but permanently open DRS

      W11 gets away with it, apart from power/weight ratio and drag, is superior in everything, even the slicks it uses compared to this modded F2004 (it uses the narrow 2010-2016 ones) are wider. The difference would be way smaller than if the F2004 used grooved tyres, but still the W11 would lap faster. People romanticize the past too much...

    If I was in charge of the FIA; I'd bring on 12.8 liter monster super turbocharged 36,000+ rpm V-12's. Uprated and upgraded to crank out over 8,800 horsepower per ton and be geared for top speeds well in excess of 480 mph. Tires would be reinforced compound composite foam rubber slick tires. Drivers would be referred to as Pilots and would be required to wear the same high-G flight suits and helmets worn by modern F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet pilots. Cars would be built using the same composites and structural materials used in the F/A-18J Super Hornet. Fully functional aero control flaps and wing structures so that the cars all but fly around the race track. The cockpit would roll with the G-loads in the turns giving the pilots the near full sensation of flight.

    Id love to see this on real life. Both cars would have to deal with bumps, but the ferrari might be the more suitable machine here.. the merc has updated aero but weight and battery depletion might hurt its pace. Also red pirellis would overheat in no time, compromising grip. On the other hand the ferrari is lighter and has no power penalty on starving batteries, it can use full power for the whole lap, give it bridgestone slicks and it could push for the whole lap. Not bad for a 19 year old car

    Putting slicks on the f2004 is unfair, if we're messing with the regulations give w11 the v10 and take away the huge fuel tank and put in a lighter one. Plus the w11 is carrying too much downforce

    As an Automotive Engineer, I can give some professional opinions on this as to why the W11 is not as good as the Ferrari F2004:
    This is the comparison between the Mercedes W11 vs Ferrari F2004 in the Nurbugring.
    3 main reasons as to why the F2004 is superior to the Mercedes W11
    1. The main reason as to why the W11 did not win this is because of the Energy Recovery. It can only sustain so little, giving its full 160bhp to the engine. But once it is depleted and waiting for the engine and the brakes to power the battery up, it will lose precious time to the Ferrari F2004.
    2. The dry and wet weight of the W11 is far greater then the F2004
    746kg vs 605kg (141Kg deficit) win to the F2004
    F2004 141kg Advantage
    3. Engine power F2004 vs W11
    920 bhp vs (1025 bhp - 160bhp) = 825kg
    F2004 95bhp advantage

      And also driving the 2004 with slick tyres gives it extra grip that did not have with groooved tyres.
      And the 2004 car had traction control as well.

    I feel this w11 mod isn’t realistic I used the w09 mod and got faster lap times then the w11 and also that f2004 with slicks is to fast I usually run 12-15 kilo ballast to add a bit of weight to slow it down

    Never could I envisage in 2004 F1 would be going backwards even since that year, by that year and these F1 cars were monsters, in a straight line acceleration they would outright murder 2022 MotoGP bikes or something like a Rimac Nevera, on a track with slicks nothing ever since that's existed in 20 years would come close to it imagine with the technology now and 2004 regulations what these cars could achieve...

      Modern F1 cars can still outrun MotoGP bikes by a few tenths of a second in acceleration while the lap times are of course a whole lot faster. If you compare actual lap times, today's cars beat the 2004 ones by about one second per lap, depending on the circuit. A Rimac Nevera though would probably outrun both of them.

    The F2004 F2005 car even with slotted tires, scary faster than the hybrids now. Looked & sounds better wtf. I’m only 26 yr old so it’s not an age thing and bring back the grid girls and let the teams build the car they want. F**king 🖕lawyers / FIA are killing F1

    This isn't a fair fight, the f2004 weighs around 200+ kgs lighter, with the only limitations being the tyres.
    The W11 is built for downforce but also excessively built for safety.

    This is just incredibly wrong. The W11 grip around Nordischliefe would essentially mean it could take almost every corner without braking, like Pouhon at Spa. Even with the high downforce set up, the Merc’s top speed is the same as the F2004. Plus the wider wheelbase of the Mercedes, and the Ferrari’s lack of downforce, the Merc would absolutely cane the Ferrari through this track.
