ORIANA's first master Commodore Gibb gives a look at life as a Captain and a tour of the Super liner's bridge. Taken from the P&O film ORIANA: Behind the Scenes.
I had sailed with the then staff captain Phillip Pickford, he was my first ever captain when I was a cadet on a cruise ship. Now he's a retired Captain after many years with P&O/Princess. A gentleman!
Also just too add the IMAC system for the machinery etc is exactly the same in layout and display as it is on most of the ships now! This must be before 2000, crazy!
Thanks for the insight James, Oriana entered service 1995, she really was ahead of her time. However it is sad to hear that she will be leaveing service in August next year.
Used to hate having to turn too for Captains Cocktail Party! such is the life of an Engineer at Sea!
