- The Universal Exhibition (Expo) of 1992 was a huge turning point for Sevilla, Spain, and the entire world.
I took a tour with the Asociación Legado Expo Sevilla and wanted to share some insights I gathered.
I am by no means an expert on the Expo but hopefully this video will inspire you to dig a little deeper and maybe even go and visit the Expo yourself! Would definitely recommend the tours: legadoexposevi...

I went to the Sevilla Expo back in 92. So long ago now that it's hard to remember things but I can remember I had such a great time. Got a guide book as a memento of the visit. It's a shame that the whole site couldn't have continued in some ongoing capacity.
most of the area is still in use as office blocks and businesses, but there are some really saddening sights around those areas. Total neglect. Every time a politician proposes doing something about it, other lobbies step in and block action. We just recently had an ''accidental'' fire at the Estadio de Rocio Jurado, quite conveniently just after a change in the insurance status of the stadium. Very disturbing...
Thanks for the vid. Came across this place by accident last week on holiday whilst exploring (could see rocket) and was amazed. Your vid filled the obvious gaps if you didn’t know beforehand. Typical of expos though when great at time but future use always difficult. I hope the locals can keep the memory alive without further decay. It’s part of an amazing city and I highly recommend it as a destination. Well done. 👏
@@Stirls various (blocked) proposals have been made to do something with the abandoned areas, we're hoping the new mayor can get it converted into something useful. It's got real potential. Hope you enjoyed your holiday, thanks for watching!
Certainly did enjoy. Came across as a clean safe place with lots to see and do. My suggestion would be to hold worlds biggest car show of Classic to recent and future again represented by electric? Would get it back onto world stage and then you can sort out permanent solution from promotion/income. 🤔
@@Stirls last I heard they wanted to build up an enterprise/business zone but the proposal was blocked. Let's see what they come up with!
In Lisbon, we presereved many of the buildings of EXPO 98. Some are still in use like a big arena for concerts. Cheers from Portygal.
meanwhile, we just let our Estadio de Rocio Jurado rot until an ''accidental'' fire breaks out just days after the insurance status changes. Such a shame we haven't done as Portugal did, and build on the investment.
I went to the website of Lega do Expo Sevilla, but as far as I could tell all the tours are in English (as is the whole website). Please correct me if I am wrong.
I meant Spanish of course
