Thank you for explaining why you chose this style and model. We spent several months struggling between the Caravel 22fb and the Flying Cloud 23fb, you helped us make our final decision. Your explanation regarding the wheel axle and safety sealed the deal. We chose the Flying Cloud 23FB. Great Video.
@@ExactlyErica Who in their right mind buys a Ford Raptor for serious towing? That pickup is designed for desert Baja style racing, not towing a long travel trailer. Your husband was thinking of only himself when he purchased it and therefore, wasted his money. You guys need to buy yourself a much larger truck like a F250 (gas or diesel).
Good for you! We bought our 2014 Flying Cloud 23 FB in early-August 2020 from a private party. ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! We got SOOOOO lucky and such a great deal, right before the demand went crazy! Perfect condition, includes solar, 2 awnings and weight distribution hitch. We've taken 3 trips (15 days total) and 2 were off-grid. So easy, enjoyable and zero problems. We removed the TV since we can use our laptops and tablets, and we enjoy the extra space. Also removed the corner bolsters from the dining area and repositioned the table to create a more comfortable, roomy eating/work area. Road trips scheduled for the next 4 months to enjoy some winter travel. ENJOY, you made the right decision!
Thank you for watching! Let us know if you have any recommendations of places to visit in the Airstream that you have enjoyed. Safe travels and enjoy!!!
@@rxonmymind8362 we really like it! Been out 3 times. Only 2 dislikes. The dinette table is a bit to big but not a deal breaker. The on demand water heater could be problematic when boon docking in that you waste so much water waiting for the hot while at the same time filling your Gray tank. Other than that, it’s fantastic!
Great choice. The dual axel is key not only for safety but for ease of backing. We have loved our 22' International AS since 2002 and consider it the perfect size and layout. Will look forward to watching your journey.
You touched upon the hitch weight and how this FC was less than other units smaller in size... with all the other great features, I think this model is the one for me. Thanks for bringing that up. I don't think I would have figured that out on my own!

I've been thinking about getting a camper trailer and if I get one it will be an Airstream. I think they have the best reputation and the best resale value. Nice helpful video. Thanks
This is a really helpful video as I was focused on trailer weight vs. hitch weight. I have a F150 5.0 and the larger models are too much of a stress on it. You guys made me think and I'm really loving the 23FB FC or even the 23FB Globetrotter. Thanks again.
Congrats! we’re looking at Basecamp X both 16X and 20X (20X allows 4 people to sleep). Airstream is quite nice. On a side note, I LOVE THE DISNEY SHIRT! I own Disney vacation club contracts, and go often. Great place to be!

Just found your Chanel! How awesome for you two. Ty for sharing all the details & process when seeking to purchase the perfect RV. We are in this process now and AIRSTREAM are my favorite as well. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Blessings to you both. Greetings from TEXAS!
great choice, great videos. My wife and I bought a 20ft FB Flying Cloud 13 months ago and have a Ford Raptor. I sold the Raptor because it had too much squat (suspensions?) but I also carried heavy gear and a 7000i Honda Generator..think 300lbs+..do you guys have an issue with the Raptor? we're now looking at a 23FT Globetrotter TB.
Hi, no issues with the raptor with a weight distribution hitch. We have the equalizer sway control hitch which fully mitigates the squat. We do have Timbrens installed as backup, but it never squats that low.
Great explanation on the floor plans and weights. Question, do you have bikes and how do you carry them. I understand there’s no bike time capabilities on the back. A sales rep told me there are after market hitches for racks.
Hi, we do not take our bikes on our trips, but we have heard there are some options to take your bike with the airstream. For instance, there is one particular bike rack made by Fiamma and it’s found in the airstreamsupplycompany.com store. Thanks for watching!
So how does it tow? We’re wanting a 23 fbt too. We’re planning on pulling it with a Toyota Sequoia. How is your MPG towing the twin axle? Thanks for your video. We’re right where you were.
Our Ford Raptor tows very nicely with the weight distribution hitch. You would have to check how much the Toyota Sequoia can handle. Go to www.canamrv.ca to check your setup. Our miles per gallon decreases about 4 miles per gallon on the highway, but we’re very happy with our setup overall.
@ExactlyErica, do you guys ever see yourself jumping to a 25ft? My wife and I have two basset hounds and we're trying to figure out if a 23ft would be big enough. I want to pick your brain on if there's times where you feel the extra space would be worth towing a big trailer or if the 23ft is more than enough space. Thanks.
The main reason we chose the 23 foot was due to the low hitch weight. We find the 23 foot the Goldilocks of Airstream due to the nimbleness, light weight, and narrow body. With the double axle it was a perfect combination for us. It fits three adults comfortably. It may be tighter with your two dogs, but you will have to decide what’s most important to you. For us, going bigger would not have worked with our tow vehicle. Good luck on your decision!
Hi! We were just so happy to get one that the discount didn’t matter as much. With the demand much higher than supply discounts are not as they once were. We did negotiate some though.
Thanks for sharing the information. Would you mind sharing the towing specifications on your Raptor? I have a Gladiator and think the two have similar specifications. Also, any issues towing? I am looking at the same exact Airstream and love the specs on this.
Hi. Thanks for watching. Towing capacity depends on your specific vehicle. A good resource which we used is can am. They are towing experts and can provide some feedback on your specific vehicle and trailer. www.canamrv.ca/towing-expertise/contact/
Thanks for the video. Answered a LOT of the same questions I had! Are you still loving it? I'm waiting for Tampa to get a BC20X before final decision but looking at the 23fb as #1 for the same reasons (tandem axle, tongue weight). Do you think the international or globetrotter is worth the upgrade? Considering the globe because of the twin setup. Thanks in advance! All about the 🙌🏿!
We also looked at the Globe Trotter, but thought we were getting all that we needed with the 23FB and at a lesser price. But, it’s really preference if you prefer/need the two twin beds then that may be the way to go for you! Good luck deciding! And GO ‘Canes!!!
Hi! Yes, we do. We have an Equalizer Sway Control Hitch. We will be putting out a video on how we hitch up very soon, so stay tuned! Thanks for watching!
Hey, great video but I do have one question. We have a Raptor as well and are looking at trailers. You mentioned you looked at the hitch weight, but that hitch weight isn’t the true hitch weight. You take the unloaded weight add in all your stuff plus maybe 1/4 tank of water etc and then take 13 or so percent of that. The listed hitch weight is NEVER the actual hitch weight. Also, what is the payload of your truck? We are sitting at 1033 on our 802A.
Hi. Thanks. Also, did a lot of research on payload and hitch weights before purchasing and agree that many factors play into actual hitch weight. We are careful and don’t load too much extra weight when we travel and we never travel with water in the tank. Also, the weight distribution hitch is a must for safety. This model did have one of the lowest hitch weights from the airstreams we were interested in. So all those factors would have increased the hitch weights on all the other models as well.
@@ExactlyErica okay cool. I just wish they would be upfront with people that the advertised hitch weight is not the true hitch weight. You guys are doing it right so that is really great to see. Safe travels and have fun!
Can you talk about what it's like to tow with the raptor I'm looking at getting one but i have a trailer that has a 5400 pound dry weight... Do you sway all over?
It’s really nice to tow with the Raptor. The hitch weight is the limiting factor in the Raptor. You want to know your specific vehicles payload by looking at the sticker in the door jamb and then start subtracting the weights of all passengers, cargo, and hitch weight. The trailer weight will probably not be an issue.
I have a 23 FB just to give you some insight. It's a perfect trailer for one person. A good trailer for two people. For three people it's kind of snug. By three I mean two adults and one kid. If you plan on having a kid or two I would highly suggest a 25 FB or larger whatever suits your taste. Leave the 23 FB for a couple or at the max two adults and a kid. Beyond that it's too small. Enjoy!
Hi! Compared to the 23FB, the 23CB has a higher hitch weight of almost 200 pounds more. Low hitch weight was key for us considering our tow vehicle. The other reason why we chose the 23FB was the layout. We preferred a larger bathroom in the back separate from the main bed. Many thanks for watching!
did they give you a discount off MSRP and if you don't mind sharing. what did it actually sell for? we are looking at this exact same model on the west coast. thx!
Hi! They did give us a small discount off MSRP, which we were surprised about considering COVID and the demand. Though it was not a huge discount. Congrats on your future Airstream!
Thanks. We were mostly looking at hitch weights when shopping. The flying cloud 23fb has a low hitch weight while still being a good size and having nice features.
