    Excuse my ignorance - and for clarity purposes - how did you get the carried forward figure of 8181 because I am struggling to find that exact figure?

      Hi it's not a c/f figure but all the position from the debit side of the cash book SUMMED UP. So basically, Michael showed us the cashbook after summing up the figures: debit side = 8181 and credit side = 6374 (only the cash book before fixing it up). I checked with my calculator ;) And then, he wrote the position that appeared on the bank statement (money in) but not in the DR cashbook side. And adding it, he ended up with 10290 on debit side.
